I love it when you use a decibel motintor to measure the loudnest of the switches, please do it in every soundtest if it isn't cause to much trouble. Thank you very much
To me it sounded pretty accurate to the feelings these materials give, and it was quite useful. But Keybored did a great job to explain objectively why such differences exist. Hearing is on thing, understanding is an other. They complete each other great though, no competition there. But to me what I'll remember is Keybored final chart, not the sounds I hurd in any video. And as a thock lover it helped me to avoid POM when PC does slightly better at a fraction of the price. ^^
hi! i hv a question, which material do you think is the best for quiet keyboard, i am going to build a silent keyboard, i am thinking about PC or POM, do u have any suggestions to me, thank you so much!
What'd you think is the loudest plate (interms of volume) ? is it CF or aluminium? Some people believe it's CF because of the higher pitched sound that it produces, some believes it was alu...
Hey comin back after a year… this was an awesome video. what would you recommend in terms of dampening sound? I feel as though the Aluminium or Carbon fiber but the FR4 also seems to do great in it. I am bit stumped :(
Thank you for the effort :) feedback if you want to make more videos like this in the future. It would be interesting to see the sound difference in a properly gasket mounted keyboard and tray mounted one in comparison and most importantly spacebar and backspace key should have well tuned stabilizers.
I have high sensory and POM makes me feel like I am hallucinating. I cannot explain why. FR4 would be my pick. Currently using a steel plated keyboard (GamaKay TK75) and it is exceptional. I am looking to add a second keyboard.
FR4 + SA on Speed Bronze are really a typewriter! But I have to say that the case itself makes a big difference. I have a roomy Vortex PC66 kbd with PC plate and it sounds really different. I wouldn't like the PC plate if I watched this video before.
What might the quietest plate be? I have an aluminium and pc plate option on my keyboard but I can't figure out which one I want more. I want it to be quieter but the pc plate is a bit weird in my opinion and the alu plate just feels better to me even tho it's stiffer.
@@ClickandThock makes sense. I have been running the pc plate for a while and I'm kinda digging it to be honest. The sound is pretty nice. The feel is pretty neat too.
They are, and clipped and band-aid. But for some reason they are « loose « and they rattle, I’m aware of the problem! I completely change the stabs by now for new ones. But at the time I filmed the videos they were not!
For some reason your videos sound way worse than they should regardless of good or bad stabs. I've tried multiple sources as well as listening to other videos on RUclips but I think it has to do with your audio bit rate. You might want to look into your video rendering and also compare your recording before/after rendering the video.
Really good test video. The Gateron switches sound so cheap… just plastic colliding with plastic. Kailh sound better but maybe too loud. Interestingly, changing the keycaps had a bigger impact on the sounds. I suspect the GMK caps may be hitting the top of the switch.
Thanks for the confirmation. Obviously the GMKs were not designed with quiet operation in mind. Anyway, thanks for posting the video - really well executed.
A litte late, how do u feel about the sound of clicky switches on carbon and brass, I'm consider to get 1 of those and not know which is better, thanks!
Never late! Brass feel more sturdy, it vibrate a little bit more and have a little metallic ping to it. But i feel more solid overall. Carbon have a deeper and smoother sound. i have mixed feeling on both. But I have to say that I love the fact that Brass add weight to my board, but that have nothing to do with sound...
I don’t see the problem… 😅 you could just watch the cherry profil sound tests (which are back to back) or use the time code and jump to the SA keycaps sound test without watching the one you don’t want to watch…
I just wanted to say thank you @click and Thock for the different comparisons. If they were all unique combinations that would be a different story. But the way you have done it here is great imo. For me personally as someone who is just starting out and trying to get a feel for this, the coverage for the different combinations here was REALLY REALLY great. The differences are very minor going from the materials that are right next to each other, but when you go to the extremes they are noticeable. Because you used different keycaps though compared to the singular keycap and switches setup so far, I could see how the effect will be better when the characteristics align more. For example, (Personal opinion) the SA keycaps make the deeper plates PC and POM sound nice cause they complement more than making them clash with a brass plate. Where as with the GMK keycap the PC and POM plates didnt seem to do as much.
that spacebar is a hate crime, good video tho, the editing was nice and you put effort on it!
ahah you are right! It is fixed now! :)

Where can I find plates for the Lemokey p1 from keychain. I’ve searched everywhere and could find any

FR4 imo. defetively not PC, all my test where louder with PC...
It sounds like fr4 and carbon fiber have the deepest tone. In the video it even seems that carbon fiber makes a deeper noise than fr4. Is that right?
Yes!
What'd you think is the loudest plate (interms of volume) ? is it CF or aluminium?
Some people believe it's CF because of the higher pitched sound that it produces, some believes it was alu...
Yes, depending the case, that could be the CF because of the Higher pitched sound!
Hey comin back after a year… this was an awesome video. what would you recommend in terms of dampening sound? I feel as though the Aluminium or Carbon fiber but the FR4 also seems to do great in it. I am bit stumped :(

Good question.. .Haven't measured noise amount of each... Would say pc since it flex and absorb part of the shocks, so sound...

The one I consistently liked the most was FR4.

the space bar really ruins the sound test…
Yeah, it is fixed since then.
remove the foam on your microphone and it will be better
Will make some tests.
question: if you can mention where did you order the plates from if they were custom made ?
These plates have been ordered from @Kbdfans
what might quietest and loudest plates be??
Good question, never tested that.. POM and PC really are more poppy so these are maybe the loudest, but I'm not sure!
PC plate the best for poppy sounds

Any reason for not lubing the stabs?
Also a note for the future it says Gat Yellow still after you changed switch (3xcept for the first slide)

What's the difference in feel between PC and aluminum? I'm talking about the speed bronzes.
Aluminum will have a more solid feel but also a little more ‘ping’. Pc is more flexible, litle more bounce, but sound a little deeper.
@@ClickandThock Thank you!!
@@ClickandThock Also, is fr4 comparable to alu? They sound similar.
@@Julozon FR4 have the best feel and sound in my opinion. It feel and sound more « thocky », deeper and less high pitch. Feel more solid than pc.
