But the moment ESPN starts paying one conference more than the other, we end up right where we are now...chaos.
It would be a pool of money that is distributed like the NFL, except the blue blood programs would get a larger share.
Notre Dame would never agree to be in that group because of the lower academics of most of those schools. Needs to be private universities and AAU members.
This is point of this proposal, to stop this type of thing from happening.
Media deals will be with the conference/league, not the divisions or schools. There is only one conference/league. Schools would have to sign a contact to be part of the conference. Teams who think they can do better on their own would be banded from playing teams in the conference and in any playoffs and championships. Media deals would be open to all networks to bid on, and the playoffs and championships would be separate, just the the NFL today.
@big12plus the big10 and sec would break away and take all the money with them. They're not going to take a pay cut to support this 80 team format. The bottom 40 teams wouldn't have enough value to make it a viable option
If the SEC and B10 drop out then ALL their other sports would also be out. That includes basketball. I know people will say FB rules, but there are many fans in these SEC and B10 schools who will not want their BB teams out of March Madness. It's not as simple as "we'll just take our FB and leave, but we still want to play with your BB". It's not as simple as it may sound to just get up and leave. @@mikef3896
Penn State needs to be in the Big East. Notre Dame would need this at a minimum.
is there a photo of the "map"?
The networks want consolidation. Its not really Realignment
I am soooooo for this because football plays well as a nationwide league because you play one game a week and it would allow the regional conferences to reform for the Olympic sports which, over time, will not play well nationwide.
Spring games is an amazing idea!
What is to understand with Miami being in the Big East? How many Miami boosters have Northern roots? Many Miami students are from the north. Miami is a private school.
Waste of time.
Why is espn not speaking about the Acc contract ending in 2026
If ND says no, do they get dropped?
Yes
That big east tho would be fun conference
Honestly, you can do this in football and keep the traditional conferences in all the other sports.
football is it all
This proposal is for football only. The other sports would remain in the same existing conference format.
"I'll take Things That Will Never Happen for $500."
Add UCF to the Big East
Please get them out of the Big 12
The bowl games should be after the conference schedule and be the out of conference games that have playoff implications. So first 9 games are in conference. The last 3 games would be the out of conference games/bowl games. SWC 3rd plays Acc 3rd ect. Then after the bowls playoff starts
South Carolina got that SEC money but that ACC lineup ya'll got them in does sound good too.
Looking like a pretty big win today by the ACC in the FSU vs the ACC saga. Waiting for you guys to chip in so I can better understand the outcome in that ruling. :)
Actually, being stuck back in the Pac 10 really does nothing for me. Arizona gets no breaks from the coast. So, even with a top 10 Super Elite Division, i'd still prefer to stay in the Big 12. Especially with BY going hard for basketball!
Football, and sort of basketball can travel easily. But non revenue sports would play primarily in their own division, either East, West or Central.
So when are the G-8s going to create their Super League? Why don't they add the FCS? Also, who are they going to have their TV contract with because the B1G and SEC will be on Fox, CBS, NBC, ESPN, and ABC since they will have all the best players and teams?
Again, why would the Big 10 and SEC ok this change? To level the playing field? Yeah right.
It's a pipe dream that's all
They’re just desperate for content so this kills a couple days
Power 5 no longer works with about 60 teams, how in the world would anyone think 80 teams are better. Why not be like basketball and make it 300 teams and the top 64 play for three more months
Swap ND with PSU for the Big East.
My liver will probably explode
This is ridiculous to talk about because it will never happen. BIG10 and.SEC won’t give up their power 😂😂😂
It's the offseason, let em dream
@@zedalvea841 LOL. Yessssss
Who would ?
B1G ,SEC will make about $ 100 million dollars per school, B1G probably a little more.
So why would they throw a lifeline to the ACC, Big 12, who will not even come close to that money.
The G5 should just start their own CFP because they will never have a chance at the P3 or 4 CFP or revenue.
@@waltercole5024capitalism has no ceiling. Only a matter of time the top dawgs in the B1G and SEC remove the weak links hiding behind them.
I know it's wishful thinking but I hope there will be a day where people become so nostalgic that they want this and stop watching until regionality becomes a thing again
Concept is a vast improvement advance. New England gets 1 team & North Carolina get 5 & Indiana 3? UConn not allowed to play? Put the Huskies on a competitive landscape & they will be better than most.
Nah dude. UConn had a great opportunity in the old Big East and AAC and just couldn’t cut it. Many idiots from there last summer were saying they go 9-3 or better with their schedule. I told them they were crazy and be lucky to go 5-7 or 4-8. Reality set in and showed up and they finished 3-9. Mora Jr. is a great coach. But UConn is not going to be better than 8-5 or 9-4 at best unless they swallow their ego and pride and either join the ACC in all sports or downgrade to FCS football and keep everything in the New Big Least, I mean East 😅😂.
All you did was name conferences as they basically were lol they’re not going backwards, as there was a reason those regional conferences did not work
Not that half the B1G and 1/3 of the SEC add anything to CFB but you aren't going to kick schools out. That said, add 14 of the best eyeball schools of the remaining schools to create two 24 team leagues with no cross over games between the two leagues and schools scheduling only those schools in your league. You could have 4 six team conferences where the conference winners make the playoffs and the winner of the B1G plays the winner of the SEC in the championship game. The championship site could rotate between both conferences from dome stadiums or warm climate sites (Pheonix, Miami, Los Angeles).
Why is the emphasis on having to have 9 conference games ,all those years the Big Ten, and PAC 10-12,Then those years the Big 12 had 10 teams, and the SEC has won so many more National Championships after playing 8 conference games, so what's up
Interesting. Maybe the SEC should lose alot of their money as they've stayed on easy street all these years.
@@gregnelson1330 No what I mean is 8 SEC games are tougher and more of a grind than 9, 10,11,22 or 12, or any other number any other conference could come up with. Plus you could schedule an extra high profile power conference matchup.
@@therealanonyomous Definatrly different points of view. But I'm hoping Yormark takes a shot at NC, NCST, Duke, Louisville, Miami, Virginia, SDSU, Gonzaga, Marquette, Creighton, Villanova, St Johns & UConn. We can never catch SEC & B1G in football, but a Strong basketball conference should keep the Big 12 in business! When my conference has these teams I'll take your view, but for now I have to think you already have too big an advantage.
I don't hate this but I think the only way it happens is if more "TV networks" get involved. The Fox/ESPN duopoly would not have enough cash to front this. We would need to see digital networks like Amazon and Apple as well as more from CBS and NBC to make this work.
Why the hell would Navy be in the G5 top tier division?
I thinks it’s hilarious that the gophers isn’t even in the thumbnail 😂
They have Them in though .
I ship it.
Why a need for conferences or divisions? Base playoffs on records and opponents records
The B1G is going OG and will have NW instead of PSU. PSU would get sent to the Big East, Miami to the Big 12;
South Carolina and Arkansas joined in 1992
One media deal for everyone and everyone makes the same media money. This would level the playing field, but the Big 10 and SEC schools will never agree to an 80 team league with one media deal.
Six 12 team Power conferences would work better from a regional placement perspective. 7-10 is hard to make them all fair.
I can do a 7-division with 10-team league. The 8th division...kind of unnecessary. I booted Vanderbilt. It has no pulse regarding football.

The best G5 schools are in AAC and MWC, my opinion !!!
@@waltercole5024 None of those should be considered. USF, Memphis, SDSU, and Schools like Fresno are all bigger brands
@Khromiux
Yes, but like with most of G5 schools, they have potential for growth.
Such was the case with Cincinnati UCF.
Like I said, AAC and MWC schools have the most potential for growth

Notre Dame to the Big Ten, Penn State to the Big East. This is a no-brainer.
Not sure who would be in what "division" but that can be sorted out.
What isn't going to work is regulation. That's going to be a non starter with so much money and resources at play.
Tv contracts would be a disaster
The NCAA would have to step in and negotiate the contracts for everyone.
@jamesknapp64 no way in hell would they allow the NCAA to negotiate thier contracts. It's a pipe dream and doa. Big10 and sec would never sign up for it, not to mention tv networks wouldn't want it. The whole point of the new realignment was to get away from regional divisions so they could have bigger brands play each other more often. This would completely contradict that and not enough of these teams hold enough value. Big10 and sec aren't going to take a pay cut and give up power just to support this format.
Why should premier football programs that invest millions into their programs share TV revenue with B & C grade institutions with their much smaller program investment and smaller fan base? This plan was disseminated by the Syracuse AD which is the cause in point. It greatly benefits programs that refuse to spend the money and effort to rise to the top. Equal opportunity not equal outcomes.
If they did regulation they should do every 4yrs
Please bring back the SWC
Memphis, a school who's been to a bowl game for 10 straight years and has more NFLdraft picks than any other G5 in last 10 years, couldn't even get into a 80 team alignment? The Memphis hate is REAL!
There’s just better options available in realignment. Schools like South Florida, Tulane, UConn, Wash St, and Oregon St are a couple examples
Ok, G-8 League
Texas could be their own conference - TX, Tx Tech, Baylor, A&M, UTEP, SMU, HOU, TCU…🤔
We are done with that forever.
Texas will be earning all the revenue and everyone else in their conference will be leaching peanuts off them.
Dear lord no! I hope my Longhorns are never again in any conference/division with any of these schools, except A&M.
Has everyone forgotten that the Big East name isn't available? 😂
Where is San Diego State, Boise State etc
Troy is in but not Boise? Huh 🤔
Penn State should be in The Big East
Memphis?
I miss the Big East. It was a great league but the ACC mess that up because of greed .
I just want smaller conferences, not 20-24 teams. Go Vols
Nah. Money grab by the professionals/NFL type. Don’t need it. Would kill the goose. You only need Mark Roger’s proposal of the Power 3, 24 teams in each, 16 team playoff, each 3 get 4-5 teams in, allowing 1 or 2 wild cards. A Tier 1 Commissioner and commissioner’s office each 3 conference commissioners work with to bring structure and uniformity, resolve issues. The other 60+ schools/teams in DIV 1 can have their own conferences and separate playoff.
Yeah that is never happening. BECAUSE MONEY
A P3 will happen.
Top half of the ACC and BIG12 becomes last of the P3.
Bottom half of the ACC and BIG12 becomes the tweener league.
G5
Only if they get invited into the B1G or SEC as partial-share members, but at least they will get their door in the door.
UCONN is a Big East original and they got football, so you can't leave them out.
They suck on top of suck and actually their football team was D1AA for a long time before deciding to move up to FBS/D1A and not a Big East original football team. I could see moving Louisville to Big12 and UCF to Big East. That makes more sense.
Plot twist. FSU and Clemson pay 100’s of millions in exit fees. The ACC gives all the money to Norte Dame to become football member and let’s them keep their own tv contract.
This really sucks. No chance for a Group of 5 to be a part of the playoffs as setup going forward. Mountain West and American Athletic Conferences going away? No more regional rivals anymore, all because of money and ESPN. There is no chance of the smaller programs breaking through for upsets any longer? The group of 5 you listed had many non traditional programs with winning records or history. Many of the schools that bailed did it to themselves regarding travel. Air Force, Wyoming, CSU, San Diego State, Memphis, and so forth are screwed!!! College football is losing what I love about it over the NFL due to money. There is no opportunity for group of 5 teams to compete in any way due to no money now or TV deals. Very sad....
Go back to pre-expansionpalooza conferences (c. 1990), then add in schools new to the P5 since then. South Carolina back to the ACC is a good move.

How does UC, UCF, BYU and Utah make the conferences again, but the rest of the MWC doesnt?
The only change I would make is Utah and BYU Big Eight. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State SWC.
@@MattBuild4 Utah won back to back Pac 12 Championship games in 21 and 22. Cincinnati, UCF, and BYU began Big 12 play this past season, so they already in.
@@therealanonyomous I could care less that teams previously played in the b12.
Dude SMU, Rice and UH played 40 YEARS in the SWC with all of these teams, but what so youre gonna assume that who joined last year defines 100 years of history wtf is this garbe?
Noticed TX and OU comments about not playing current SEC teams and basically back in the B12/SWC. There will be 3 games with teams outside you're division so TX would play TCU (who has a great record against TX) and still match up with LSU &/or Bama. This proposal impact FSU the most right now. If this picks up steam, who wants to pick up new teams to only have things mixed up again in the near future?!? Plus, if a team is better than the rest of the teams in their division then they will get to play better teams each year in the playoffs. And since everyone will be making the same money, who cares. Oh the blue bloods in college FB? Just like the blue bloods in the NFL, Green Bay, New England, Dallas. Oh wait, are these still NFL blue bloods today?!?
Needs some fine tuning, but I like the ideal.
Agree, The SEC and BIG10 is too powerful. They will never give in to this.
Turning back the dial wont happen ... even if one could equilize the tv revenue (good luck!), what is the $value$ to (eg) the city of Norman (or Austin) to host (eg) TCU over (eg) LSU ... the latter will be a $BANANZA$ of purple and gold decending on campus. That has real economic $value$ for the city... there's NO WAY going backwards (moving OU & Texas back in some regional division) can match that.
Regional Conferences "ALWAYS" made sense... Too bad GREED Destroyed College Football!!!
With that being said, here's my thought on things: The BIG is now at 18-teams and need six more to get to "SUPER CONFERENCE" Status (24 teams), and here's how I see it playing out.
#1. The BIG wants Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina and Virginia because of "LOCATION"..."LOCATION"..."LOCATION" (Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami, Richmond etc...), that plus their academics and AAU status!!!
#2. High School Football Recruiting!!!
#3. Georgia Tech OFFERS more to the BIG then Rutgers did then and/or does now... At least Georgia Tech has a Winning History!!! "NEWS FLASH"... PLUS, they'll get/take Cal and Stanford "CHEAP" after the collapse of the ACC... For the SAME Damn Reasons!!!
Now their footprint is Coast-to-Coast, and they will have MOST of the Major TV Markets, PLUS, and this is The BIG Reason, they are "NOW", in "The HEART of DIXIE"!!!
That's their plan to create one of two 24-Team Semi-Pro Super Conferences and EXIT the NCAA!
The SEC counters by taking Clemson, Florida State, North Carolina State and Virginia Tech with the latter two teams helping to encroach into BIG Territory!!!
After taking the four ACC Schools (Florida and South Carolina have ZERO to say about the additions of Clemson and FSU, just like Arkansas, Missouri and Texas A&M had ZERO to say about the addition of Texas... It's a "If You Don't Like It... You're FREE to Leave the SEC ANYTIME you'd like).
To get to a 24-Team Super Conference, the SEC would need to add four more teams, and since MOST of the SEC are Land Grant Institutions, NONE of the Metro Schools left in the ACC fill the bill... THUS, the SEC has no place else to go EXCEPT WEST!
So, "THE ONLY PLACE TO TURN"... The Big-12, and to keep up with the BIG (Coast-to-Coast), they "POACH Arizona, Colorado, Kansas (to APPEASE Kentucky) and Utah!
That's your two "SEMI-PRO, SUPER CONFERECNES", and at that point they "WILL BREAK AWAY" from the NCAA to create their own playoffs and championships in ALL SPORTS... After all, it's about "Making and KEEPING as much money as you possibly can, and to HELL with the rest of" College Athletics"!!!
New BIG:
EAST POD: Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, Rutgers, Virginia.
LAKES POD: Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue.
PLAINS POD: Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Wisconsin.
WEST POD: California, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Washington.
NEW SEC:
EAST POD: Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, NC State, South Carolina.
SOUTH POD: Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech.
Central POD: Arkansas, Kansas, LSU, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Missouri.
WEST POD: Arizona, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, Utah.
What's left of the ACC, the Big (Little) 12-2 +4, the PAC-12 minus 10, the G-5 conferences and Notre Dame will create Eight New Regional Conference with 10-12 Teams under the NCAA Banner.
Here's a possible Eight Conference League with Eleven Teams (Would need to add Three more FCS Schools to get to Eleven Schools), in each conference.
AAC: Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, James Madison, Liberty, Marshall, Troy.
NEW ACC: Army, Boston College, Buffalo, Charlotte, Duke, Navy, ODU, Temple, U-Mass, *Villanova*, Wake Forest.

NEW PAC: Arizona State, Boise State, Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon State, San Diego State, San Jose State, UNLV, Utah State, Washington State.
Sunbelt: Arkansas State, Louisiana Lafayette, Louisiana Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee State, Sam Houston State, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Tulane, UAB, Western Kentucky.
Time to get this ESPN, FOX, BIG and SEC Money Hungry ARROGANCE over with... Send them ALL Packing... REFUSE to play any of them in the future!!! They wanted their EXCLUSIVE Conferences and Playoffs, let them have it!
The NCAA should disassociate themselves from both conferences as well and EXCLUDE all the schools in those two EXCLUSIVE Super Conferences (Semi Pro Leagues), from the NCAA Basketball Tournament as well as other "College Sports", going forward!
Let ESPN create a Separate Basketball Tournament for them!!! The other 80+ FBS Schools have ZERO NEED to continue to play the BIG and SEC in any sports going forward and WILL Survive with their own "COLLEGE SPORTS CHAMPIONSHIPS"!!!
Big East should have Penn State instead of Miami. Thats the only way an Eastern Conference would survive.
I am sure Penn State will be so thrilled to be forced to share their revenue with a bunch of basketball schools, against their will.
Would this plan be better for college athletics? Yes. Will it make more money for the big schools and TV networks? Probably not, so it won't happen.
Really... OU and Okie St have to go play with the entire state of Tx? Like, put us back in the B8.
How's this, Old Big 8: OU, OSU, KU, KSU, ISU, Colorado, Missouri, Nebraska. Plus Arkansas and Iowa to make 10, regional schools. Sounds fun!
@@big12plus@big12plus I would do that for sure. At least we would be natural rivals.
You really have nothing better to do than deal in this delusion? Things at 365 Sports must be very quiet. Oh well, have fun.
The Miami situation is simple. Miami had died in football. Then the Big East threw them a lifeline and they won a couple more national championships. Donna Shalala, president of U Miami, came out in a speech and thanked the BE for saving Miami football. A couple of months later, Miami joined the ACC and took a couple more teams with them, starting the death of the BE.
