How To Get 500WHP On Stock Turbos With A BMW 335i (N54)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 18 сен 2018
- PLEASE KEEP IN MIND I am in no way responsible for your car or what you decide to do with it, this is just my commentary. 500whp on stock turbos is pushing these cars hard and beyond what one would consider "safe hardware limitations". Your car must be well maintained and regularly serviced (oil, fluids, ignition system, fueling, tuning, cooling, etc) in order to safely run these modifications. With that being said, it's very well possible to achieve 500whp! Here is my take on how to hit those kinds of power numbers. Hope you guys enjoyed and please be sure to like and subscribe!

Simply Car Things just wanted to say thanks for throwing us N54 content, had the N55 just recently got a N54 and nice to have both on one channel, thanks again mate
@G I'm poor and can afford them.
yeah, then i buy out your motors for like 200 - 500 a pop cuz they're all knocking. lol.
F!@k i got the 535i n55 😵 nice luxury...but upping the hp is limited
@@markrayes2973 Pure 800 is your answer
I got dual cone intakes, upgraded Stepped FMIC, index 12 injectors, ngk spark plugs, carbon blasting, always fresh oil, and I'm more than satisfied with my MHD Stage 1+ V8 Beta tune. It pulls hard and doesn't destroy my clutch.
Advice to those who want downpipes. If your turbos are replaced or don't have rattle, sure get downpipes. I won't do downpipes until I upgrade/fix my turbos, which are currently NOT giving me problems nor rattling, But it's more cost-effective to do downpipes while you do your new turbos in the future. Downpipes on your original/wearing turbos will only make them more audible/rattle more due to higher flow, and more power needs.
Leandro yep I never noticed any rattle until I installed my dp's recently and now they rattle quite a bit
I’m definitely going to take these tips, I just purchased a 335i hard top convertible & im looking to get it to that point soon
They are all hardtop no need to say that each time.

I thought i read this motor was bulletproof? Where does the un-reliability come into play? What parts are known to fail?
Moto Hobo it is but the stuff around it breaks

You need an intercooler it really makes a difference! We’re taking my friends stage 2 plus on Saturday! He only has downpipes now we’re adding the IC and charge pipe then.
Does an intercooler boost hp?

That Shell station you were revving your car at is right down the street from my house. There's a dominoes, a taco shop, a Farmer Boys, Denny's and a Popeye's there. I've been to that Shell station in Menifee at the end of your video. Well keep an eye out for me in a dark blue 335i. Just bought one.

Any tips for things to do on a 08 535xi?got intake, charge pipe, jb4, and about to get dps and lpfp anything else that'd help turn this into a sleeper
My car made 481 wheel with FBO e40 mix
I should fix the valve cover gasket leak first hahahahah
How do your angel eyes hold up? And do you have a video how to install it
Cool explanation 👍
Correction on the tuning. JB4 is a ots piggyback tune. MHD is much better. Yes MHD has ots tunes also but there are adaptations that allow it to make custom changes to the way your specific car is running
On a budget: Get intercooler, downpipes, MHD V8 E30(30% Pure ethanol with 98RON) and be done with it, you will also be around 500hp because I've tested it. More important for me besides power was adding an OS Giken LSD. You will beat almost everything you meet at the streets or track. N54+500HP+6MT+LSD= heaven
@JerainJezza stop drinking that E85 bro
DCT beats manual anyday
LSD made that much of a difference in making it faster? how so? acceleration or speed? or cornering?
@@liammartin8773 not sure about the science but an lsd will ensure that there is significant power going to both wheels because instead of one wheel like an open diff setup. i’m not 100% sure but that’s what i can give you from my experience and what i’ve searched so far lol. i’m sure there’s more but that’s the bread and butter i guess lol.

How long do the stock turbos last ?

I have to hurry to work but before I do, has this n54 had any repairs or parts replaced since 2 years ago?
What’s better? A 07 335i or a 08 335i? Looking to get one
I think it's fast enough as is, even when breathing room is made with a first stage tune from mhd is plenty and wear and tear will be negligible
What wheels are you running and can you link them
First time on this channel so forgive me if this has been covered. In regards to the stock turbos I’m aware that the wastegates are know to rattle and eventually fail. Are there any known fixes to the issue instead of just going with a large single turbo?
What years were the n54 produced?
Hey Omar what injectors were you running on this 335i?
I have tried two custom tuners... both of which failed...they are way too busy to be a practical option. And they don't seem to care about feedback. Nothing worse than a tuner that doesn't listen and cannot fix issues in their tune.
Next time I am only doing full day dyno tunes so I don't have to deal with delays.
Doc Vue Tuning
You clearly have the wrong tuner then.
My 335i bencmarked with upgraded downpipes, fmic, chargepipe etc to 400 hp. Then with a custom jb4 flash i think we're talking over 400 already....
Is it possible to run full e85 in the car? I've seen adapters and sensors for other vehicles but not as much this one. I would love to see (or do) a full flex fuel conversion
How can you tune it with JB4 and MHD in sync?
I think the whole 500hp on stock turbos refers to crank horsepower not wheel horsepower. If you lose roughly 15percent power loss through the drivetrain that means you need to make around 435 to the wheels which I think could be doable with FBO and 30% E85 on a stock fuel pump.
I've never dyno'd to see if it does or not lol but in theory it's possible to do 500 CRANK horsepower.
My brothers fbo 335i is nasty doc race kit coming soon 😈😈
I thought even though e85 is highet octane it burns different wouldn't something like sunoco purple pure race gas be better
This car can make 500 easy with the twin turbos, anything between 700 and up will require converting to a bigger single turbo and a 7 stepped intercooler, mhd tune can be done regardless.
yep, i completely agree!
Simply Car Things both of you are completely stupid to think that .

Simply Car Things I can’t wait to finish watching this video. I have a 435i with WMI and FBO and made 385whp on my first run without adjusting the JB4.
wow thats awesome! Was that on pump gas only? Thanks for watching!
Simply Car Things Yes, 93 oct. only and meth. Boost was 14-15 psi. Now I’m making 17-18 psi, planning on going to the Dyno next week to test again.
thats very impressive! Sounds like a pretty damn fast N55

Tbh I don’t even want a 500hp bmw. I like bimmers because to me they are the most elegant/most classic looking car. They really are beautiful examples of engineering (not always done right) but done in a way that just hits different. Long Live BMW. 👑💙
If I already have an MHD tune, Stage 1, can I just throw a JB4 on top of that? Will the vehicle work fine or would it brick the DME?
Yes you can use both
How many horses can factory injectors go to?
What about a meth system too? I get about +5deg -5 of ambient running my 335i hard now with a big front mount would a meth system really improve upon that?
Quick question.the color stripes on the front grill is for “M” cars only or any bmw model can rock them?
Dont do it unless you own a M
500 WHEEL hp is ALOT different then 500 CRANK hp.. Its pretty much impossible to make 500 rwhp on the stock twins.. Now 500hp is certainly obtainable. I have two 135i's, last dyno my 09' put down 420 rwhp and 444 rwtq on stock twins, nothing crazy installed either. JB4 G5 ISO, DP's + Full exhaust, 5 step IC, DCI, VRSF CP, 1 step cooler NGK plugs, 30% e85 and bam flirting with 500hp to the crank w/ over 500tq. So, its very doable to get inducted into the 500hp club on stockers.. Just not the 500 WHP club (thats around 575-600hp).. LOLLL.. THEN after all that you can't put any of it to the ground! You need much more then the items listed to actually have a "drivable" 500hp car.. Soo better add wider wheels with wider/sticker tires, coilover/suspension upgrade and just for the heck of it a sway bar kit. Engine work - $$$, Suspension work - $$$, The smile on your face - Priceless...

I think you are right but stock turbos shouldn't be considered. FBO I'm replacing my seized 335is engine with another 6 bolt N54. That's getting new turbos anyways since I'm doing a whole lot of work anyways. I think the best point made here is E85 I can run it as it's relatively available to me.

Simply Car Things if you’re trying to go to the moon and back perhaps some moonshine? Duh
Omar, quick question: which dyno are you getting your numbers from? There are three basic designs and they can display very different WHP numbers. Each will have a "conversion factor" to convert the wheel numbers into crankshaft numbers. To more accurately discuss the mods / power isdue it would be best to define which type of Dyno you sourced your values from. For example, my N54 ran 364 WHP on a Mustang Dyno which typically gives low output numbers but the Dyno operator said to use a multiplication factor of 1.3 to get a ballpark crankshaft value. Doing so would show approximately 470 HP at the crank.
most of the numbers i give in the video are rough estimates which i have gathered from other enthusiasts ive met in person as well as on the forums. The majority of the numbers are figures in reference to a dynojet

Running mhd v8 stage 2 91 95 can I just switch to e85 do I need anything I’m FBO n54 I just re write the map and would start putting in e85?
Rabey Amir you have to upgrade you low pressure fuel pump to a stage two. Super cheap and easy. Just lift up the back seats and pop it in. Check out ecs tuning for the parts. Other than that tune and make sure you use the same fuel or reflash it every time you want to change octane.
Lol he’s not making anywhere near 360whp. Stock intakes, stock downpipes and stock charge pipe. Which is important because to get 360whp you need to be pushing 17 psi of boost which will blow that charge pipe
My car used to peak at 17psi i ran the stock chargepipe the entire time i owned it and never had an issue lol. I have friends running consistent 20+psi on the stock chargepipe. its a hit or miss thing
@@SimplyCarThings that's pretty ballsy. Within a month of hooking up my BMS JB4 I was already leaking at the diverter valves. Another month and the boost leak was so substantial it would kick into limp mode between shifts. Basic order of operations to be safe: Charge pipe, intakes, JB4 (or a tune in general), downpipes, exhaust, intercooler.
I'd also like to note my car was meticulously cared for by the previous owner and was bought with 60k miles. So it isn't like it was dogged before I bought it. BMW has shitty quality gaskets and seals all over this car
Simply Car Things it is not a hit or miss. The parts were not designed to hold double the boost+. You WILL be leaking pressure.
I have 2 335s, one I drive every day and it has the stock charge pipe running MHD stage 2+ without issue for 2 years now. The one I don't drive as often broke the charge pipe in a month on less boost.
215Sugarfree i unno why you guys vouch so hard for the stock pipe, it’s a horrible plastic pipe, and a much better aluminum pipe with a meth outlet incase you wanna run meth later is only 150 bucks (vrsf)
If you can afford a 335i, you can dish out an extra 150 bucks for a damn charge pipe you can rely on.
What about 2015 535
Who says the N54 is unreliable? That’s definitely not a common complaint that I am aware of..
If u tune MHD Stage 1 does your mpg go down
Why you worried about mpg lol
Just replace some of the high pressure lines/pipes and make sure your pumps are good before all this 😂 they love to leak when you run the high boost and hold redline during pulls
Just a question, can I go stage 3 on some parts to be ahead of the game. Or will I need to be tuned to run them
Yes you can
Ahead of the game... this car aint the right one
Nour Hummadi Trust me as an 335 n54 owner who has done it all. You need it to be tuned once you put catless Downpipes on. You will throw all sorts of codes and get limp mode conditions. Couple of things to note as well. Get your heads walnut blasted, replace all of your coil packs and plugs before you try this and get an Bms OCC and an oil cooler if your car doesn’t come with a stock one. Cooling and good oil are what that motor need. With the increased boost your turbos will not last that long so factor that in as well as the seals will start to go.
Definitely get a tune first! Piping changes often increase the diameter and with less restrictive airflow you will LOSE POWER due to the lack of air pressure causing DME to dial in on increased oscillation and wastegate rattle while struggling to keep the intake track pressurized evenly.
Nour Hummadi put what u have on the car and get a tune right away. And go get a tune for a pro or will blow ur n54 up
how to pass emission with catless down pipe?
Take It to a special Smog Place
If it’s second hand make sure you get maintenance first!
Fbo for i dont i dont know how to build a motor. My m54 made more than that with a built motor on boost
Take this from a guy who's been fbo for 4 years and hybrid turbos for 2. You can't get 500whp on stock turbos. It's not physically possible from the tiny 9t turbos. You'll be blowing hot air and creating big back pressure. Only a fake dyno will fool you into thinking it's possible. This is an easy way to generate hype and traffic to a RUclips video.
I got 467 on mine. Stock turbos
I’ve been saying this for the longest time. They type in how to get 500hp n54 on google and sponsored sites that want you to buy shit say you can. Go to the forum there is a 21 page dyno thread and nobody is making 500 on stock turbos
@@i_read_bad_reviews I've seen 2 at 500 hp dyno tested
William A the first thing he says you make 500 relatively easy. He was still a noob when he made this . I’m sure he has learned from them, but he is pretty much a poser in this video. Your going to need everything done , inlets , meth , pray you get a strong walboro 450 because most can’t run full e85 like whoever sold it to you told you it could. A shit ton of little things with a ultra healthy engine then maybe , just maybe you can make it. But I looked for it and only found 1 person on stock turbo making 500+ and he made 540hp with every single thing done besides turbo on meth, nos and race gas.

@@tball4746 it’s literally a must.. night and day difference
What’s difference between hp to wheels and hp to engine? Sorry kind of ignorant here
HP= horsepower the unit of measurement.
BHP = brake horsepower. The rating of horsepower at the crankshaft. (engines power)
WHP = Wheel horsepower. The rating of horsepower at the wheels (engine power- Transmission, friction, heat losses)
23
HeepingBand• Jul 23, 2014, 5:06 AM
BHP - Brake horse power is a measure of ENGINE power (some weird tool that i don't even know about).
WHP - Wheel horse power is a measure of the actual amount of power that makes it to the ground (dyno).
HP - Horse Power is an insignificant term.
Manufacturers almost always tell you crank horsepower - the power that the engine makes with accessories, but not including drivetrain losses. Prior to some date in the 70s, manufacturers used power numbers without accessories. After that date, they were required to use SAE Net horsepower, meaning accessories were included. This is why cars experienced a perceived huge drop in power after whenever that was.
BHP is Brake Horsepower, and refers to the method of measurement - you apply a brake torque to the engine and see what happens. Many people use it as a synonym for Crank or Flywheel horsepower. In my opinion it's a bastardization of the term, but I let it pass because generally the machines that measure using a brake are engine (not chassis) dynos.
Wheel horsepower is of course the measure of power at the wheels. It'll be less than crank/flywheel horsepower, but may not be less than the manufacturer's claims, since for some reason auto makers occasionally lie. See the SRT-4, which, in addition to being fastAr, also suffers negative drivetrain loss by putting down more power to the wheels than Dodge claims it makes at the flywheel.
