      @kenosabi evil pedophile "priests" don't represent the catholic church, and the church itself doesn't represent Jesus. It's a hard distinction to learn. There are bad seeds in every establishment. If you gave a regular person a beethoven musical sheet, and they butchered it/ played it very badly, do you blame beethoven? It's sad because the only one who can actually save her(Jesus), she might never turn to, because, tragically, she associates Him to her trauma. (understandably so)

      Sadly, perverting religion is far too common, not only in modern times, but in all of human history. Anytime you give someone that sort of power, it will be abused. I am not saying you can't be a good, moral person who follows a religion, but I am saying religion has justified a lot of hatred, abuse, suffering, manipulation and death since its inception.

    It's crazy how predators can sense trauma and vulnerability. Its like they can smell it

    • @joelmolinapalau6811
      @joelmolinapalau6811 15 дней назад +48

      I think there are behavioural patterns like unsupervised "freedom" or confusing deorientation of moral dilemmas and dangers, otherwise warnings that parents are suppossed to provide, and that builds into a somewhat excessive sense of trust, which would be leathal, especially when you are so young.
      For instance, I was taught since I can even start to remember, that you don´t talk to other adults alone you, especially adults, and that you walk away from them if they insist in talking to you. This "rule" actually saved my life when I was 8 years old as I believe I was a target to be kidnapped when a young girl started calling me from a car while I was on the swings outside my aunty´s, just like in the movies.

      Its actually not crazy at all. It makes perfect sense. Predators in the wild can smell and sense trauma/ vulnerability, why would humans be any different? We are natural predators.

    • @JasonSpielberg
      @JasonSpielberg 15 дней назад +17

      It's usually pretty obvious. Most vulnerability comes down to basic stupidity, and people tend to have a very hard time hiding that, as they lack the intelligence to do so. More sophisticated people don't remain vulnerable for long, because we're able to identify our own flaws and deal with them accordingly.

      It must have been unbelievably confusing for Onami to be in a structured society that was consistent and predictable, but ultimately unhealthy. Paradoxically, I think this gave her an advantage in improving the rules and structures in her life that benefited her once she put a complete stop to all the problems. People who grow up without any structure would likely have a harder time doing the same. She really has a voice for those who grew up in a structured but messed up situation.

    The thing i think should be known about this woman is she isolates her children and lives in a very cultish way still.
    She doesnt let them go to school, or the doctor, doesn't vaccinate, drinks her own urine, does unschooling because she doesnt want her kids to be influenced by the outside world.
    Unschooling is where you teach children what theyre interested in. So her kids are far behind in education.
    The way she responds to critism is just cult talk. " Anti society, my sons free others are not"
    She sells courses on sex magic and strange hippy spirituality.
    I think people that are raised in cults fall victim to cult mentality

      Most people of her age in this cult (including myself) are the grandchildren of four men and women who were seekers, not satisfied by the status quo and looking for meaning alternatively. It's not surprising that their grandchildren have similar tendencies. But having awareness that you were in a cult opens your eyes in a way that many others don't. You are more likely to see the wrongs in mainstream culture. Most people coming out of this end up drawn to "culty" things and alternative lifestyle

I love her authenticity and frankness. I just really love her. Thanks for sharing your unreal story, Onami, and thanks for giving her the platform to do so, Mark. I am a very open-minded person but, in all honestly, if I passed Onami in the street before hearing her story, I probably would’ve made unfair snap judgments about her. Maybe because of the tattoos, maybe because of other less visible factors. After hearing her story, and learning about how resilient and intelligent and articulate and beautiful she is, I can’t believe I was so quick to make negative judgements. This is exactly why your videos are so important, they challenge our preconceived ideas and snap judgements even when we don’t know we need that challenge. Thanks again for all you do.

    • @PalinaZ
      @PalinaZ 14 дней назад +13

      You don't need to learn more about other people to not be ok with yourself making negative judgements. You don't need to sympathize with ones story to know your limits of consciousness. There are soo many who grew up in deprivation of mature adults. That comes in many different shapes and always plasticizes a children's brain. Do not make negative judgements ever about things that have nothing to do with you.
      There are many people who won't even be able to name what has happened to them ever. Not everyone is capable of telling their story or two..

      @ I was involved with the Rainbow family for the better part of a decade. While I was technically free to come and go, I lived with a core group of them, and had to go along with what the group decided. We ran a restaurant. We didn’t get pay, but I got to eat and a place to sleep on the floor. Once on the way to a gathering, the “elder” I was traveling with decided that I k and my younger sister) needed to put some money into the gas tank… knowing full well I didn’t make any money… so my sister and I got out of the van in the middle of the night ( while they were sleeping in the air conditioned hotel) and hitch hiked up to the gathering site. That ended my involvement with them. I wasn’t saying they were a proper “cult” I was implying they were a stepping stone in that direction, and I was glad to get away from them.

    BTW if you are inspired by this woman, I just wanna let you know the other side of her life. She sells her book and courses for a lot of money and she has created her own cult, but in a different way. For example she has an esotheric course about s*gggs magic (I have no idea wtf this is). Recently she has decided to unschool her son. She did not send him to school and her son cannot read and write at the age of six. By "can't" i mean AT ALL , he cannot read even the simplest words. And he is doomed, because he is not gonna be able to go to college (in order to do so in almost any country incl USA you need a proof that you have finished school and you have some level of education). She does not care about that and a lot of people are following her advise and taking their kids out of school. One again, she is NOT homeschooling, she in UNschooling, her children have no textbooks or anything. And she claims that she is a witch. So just think about it and don't jump to conclusions about someone based on one interview. In my opinion she is not a survivor, she is the face of the cult. She has learned everything there and created her own cult based on her dramatic story about escaping from another one, because she wanted to be at the top of the cult, to be a leader and influence people rather than being influenced by someone.

  • @jaywysard

    I found this interview to be very fascinating. Onami is certainly a very intelligent and interesting woman who's been through a lot. What I found most intriguing is the fact that literally nothing worked for her to help her get over her past--therapy, psychedelics, etc--until she found her own way, the way that works for her. She's found "answers" and she's smartly turned it into a business to "help others."
    With this in mind, I'd suggest that everyone who watched this video to take a look at her website. You can decide for yourself what to make of it. But let me just say this: IMO, when you're selling access to knowledge about woo woo "sex magic" systems that claim to help you to have a better sex life, to "build financial prosperity", to "self-actualize", or to find God, I don't see how this is fundamentally different from something like "prosperity Christianity" or, worse yet, cult construction.
    Maybe I'm just too cynical about these things. But consider this: at one point in the interview, she talks about not wanting her business practice to become a cult. That's all well and good and I hope she sticks to her guns. At the same time, she has first hand knowledge of how cults work and the psychological tools that they use to convince people to open their wallets. She has an "experience PhD" in these things. Just saying...beware. Have a good day.

    • @badmuddafadda
      @badmuddafadda 15 дней назад +5

      You make some very good points. It may be intuitive, or unintentional, after all she was raised to frame existence in this manner. Like all the teenage grifting using the female teenage sexuality as the hook. If this is how years of your life was spent, it seems like it would be the most familiar tools one has to work with. In her story, she locked that toolbox and tried to “teetotal”-yet she was an alcoholic and tried heroine and used cocaine. How is that teetotaling? It’s not, unless you are talking about using the tools you developed from being in the cult. She failed to thrive without the tools. She is successful now because she is not teetotaling anymore, although she is likely straight edge. It is a conundrum but if you listen to her-she pretty much says the quiet part out loud, many people don’t hear it.

Upon a terrible breakup with an ex I used to walk my dog and carry a little flashlight and wave it back and forth to keep coordination while walking so as not to think about what he did to me. White Noise and Nature really helps anyone with trauma....the Piano evokes natural emotions, as well; as trauma can make you as hardened as abusers (they hurt you for crying or having feelings) once away from 'that' - certain melodies can help you regress, naturally and 'identify' with a past memory without feeling threatened. I've "balled" after having to attach a moment of hardness with a memory to cry....its not allowed in some "areas"

    What a fascinating and powerfully intelligent young woman. I’m so terribly sorry she had to experience such prolonged and entrenched traumatic experiences at such a deeply formative young age. But hearing her story, told so incredibly eloquently, is a deeply powerful experience.
    I grew up from the 80s and my mother had previously been a social worker, and even in the north east of England she had worked with the victims of the Children of God. They are everywhere and it is terrifying. I’m so glad this wonderful person has escaped it. These people are truly cruel and evil, in the basest sense of those words. She deserves the best of life going forwards.

    I was like, why does she look so familiar? She’s the lady who went viral on tiktok for “unschooling” her son. And he’s really far behind, but she doesnt understand that. And now that I hear her background, I can see why she’s going that route. She’s trying to keep him from being indoctrinated, but she’s overcorrecting and going to start new issues.
