Shark in John Pennekamp State Park

One of several videos we did in the Keys for our 2022 vacation. We visited John Pennekamp Coral Reef State park with hopes of seeing Christ of the Abyss. We booked out of the state park directly for a 2.5 hr snorkel tour, d/t we didn't have our boat. Unfortunately, the weather had its hand and we ended up at Grecian Rock. Beautiful reef, however, did a lot of jellyfish dodging. Saw Barracuda and a reef shark. If you are taking a snorkel boat, take the early morning sessions. They are more likely to go to the Christ of the Abyss in the morning, then late morning, afternoon sessions. The buoys are less crowded in the AM. Also, you can rent a boat directly from the dockmaster at the camp and is very reasonable pricing. Many reefs to explore in this area.
