- This snorkel tour is filmed at Carysfort Reef Lighthouse in Key Largo Florida. This reef can be visited by boat from John Pennekamp State Park. The lighthouse was built in 1860 and has become home to all sorts of incredible marine life.

I really enjoyed the narration, and how you talked about almost everything we saw. Such a nice break from those videos that only play music! I've been snorkeling the Keys for 19 years and didn't see any mistakes, except maybe for calling them Blue Tangfish! It's just "Tangs"! JK!

Awesome video! Are there any snorkel tours you would recommend in the key largo area? Will be in the Miami area next week.
John Pennekamp park in key largo has a snorkel tour boat that runs tours. There are several other ones in the area also. I use my own boat so I have no experience with the operators.

It is about 6 miles offshore. I have made it there in an 11 foot whaler on a smooth day but normally a 20ft boat is best.
How did you get there? I'm trying to find a boat tour that goes there without much luck.
We took our own boat. I have rented a boat at John Pennekamp and gone out there. They don't like you taking rental boats that far but it was a flat day so I was not worried about it. It is a far reef so not as many of the snorkel trip boats are willing to go there.

@@stacyoneill4218 wow thanks! That's a very nice comment! So molasses reef is a decent one that is closer and frequented by tour boats. Also grecian rocks and dry rocks are popular. Those are all key largo. In Marathon Sombrero reef lighthouse is really nice. I have not done much in the lower keys and Key west so I can't help you there. Of course all these are weather and vis dependent, some times a good location can just be no fun on the wrong day. Hope you find a good tour boat and enjoy! Thanks for watching

why do your prefer simple snorkels over dry snorkels
When I free dive down I want the snorkel to fill up with water. If it was a dry snorkel the air would make the snorkel pull up while I was underwater. Also, on a basic snorkel there are less parts to fail
