    Not sure how it would work out there but using collection cups is much easier to catch fish in a tank. They cant see it and are easily corralled in. Maybe some sorta large plastic on a stick in tandem with a net could work

      Collecting fish is a ton of fun. Every fish has a story. Bermuda will have a lot of great reef fish for your tank!

      I collect fish in a nearby beach for my aquarium which is in a rural area during low tide since it’s when the small fish are in pools and hiding under rocks and its easy to get to and I even can catch large damsels, puffers, and even moray eels. They look just like the ones in the store but the difference is that I didnt have to pay anything for them and I get a work out. Just today at this time, I was able to net a whole school of cardinal fish which is like so perfect!
      Although I still do buy fancier fish like tangs, angels, butterflies, and other pretty deeper water fish I don’t usually catch.

      These structures are covered with molly miller blennys. I've also spotted a tessellated blenny here as well.

      @@adambretschneider1822 what do you do with the fish you catch? do you sell them or put them in personal tanks?

      @@FishyTomato- I collected them for tanks at an environmental center. Each tank represented a different habit.

    Seems like too much handling and stress on these fish , wonder how long they will live ?

    • @gimeurfridchiken4615
      @gimeurfridchiken4615 20 дней назад +1

      This kind of stress doesn't even compare to the international shipping most go under, they're probably going to be fine.

    Nice collecting. Where can I find a net like that?

    • @adambretschneider1822
      @adambretschneider1822  Год назад +1

      Those nets are homemade. They both are old butterfly catching nets. I cut the wooden handle shorter and sewed on the two different nets on the aluminum frame with braided fishing line. One net was made from an old 1/4" cast net. (I wish it was 1/8" but I used what I had.) The second is a paint straining bag that fits over a 5 gallon bucket. It works well for small creatures. It isn't that good for catching the fast fish. Thanks for watching.
