This was by far the best demonstration of the Gemini's sonic character at SB23. Will definitely be picking one of these up in the autumn after watching/hearing this one Cuckoo, so cheers to that.
Ghe guy presenting is so nice and honest. Love his attitude.
Yeah
That’s George Hearn, the guy who made/designed the synth, along with the Super 6. Not just a nice presenter guy.
He loves his synth!
💯% agree 👊🧡👍
@@79GlitchDid saying that make you feel all giddy and knowledgeable?
Someone said somewhere else: This is a true CS80 sucessor. More modern of course and way more powerful. But a true character.
"Nerd time, I love it" 😀
George is amazing. So chill & precise in his presentation, both word & sound. Great designer & artist too.
Role model I'd say.
Cuckoo & George together have sold me on this synth more than any of the major press lol. I like this combo!!
"I'd like to play it for 5 or 6 minutes" - CEO of the company grabs the camera so that you can do just that. So cool.
28:20 please get in the habit
@@voilabolognessich423 You have too much time on your hands. Please get a life.
this is one of the few times that when I hear a demo EVERYTHING that I hear sounds really good/awesome...really well done guys...I am SOLD
Haven't been this excited for a hardware synth in a long time, it sounds stunning! 🛸
Ok. Now I understand this synth. This is BY FAR the best synth I’ve seen and heard.
Unfortunately my beginner level isn’t enough for this one, but if I was rich I would definitely buy one and keep it all my life to grow up with it.
Absolutely fantastic instrument.
By the way Cuckoo x UDO is such a nice combination, love it
I love it. UDO brings back the spirit of old classic synths and takes it onward. When they turned on the binaurality I had shivers, amazing stuff. It must sound even better in person.
Love to see enough space on the board to fit your hands on the controls. Old school style, made for humans.
When I had questions about updating the firmware on my Super 6, I contacted UDO. George and his small team were not only quick to respond, but went above and beyond to help me understand the architecture of the synth so that I can maintain my patches while upgrading firmware and wavetables. They were very understanding of my numerous questions and always explained everything thoroughly. I truly hope more small companies like this can thrive in today's market, because as we've all seen, it can be brutal competing against big companies. The world needs more George and UDO Audio. Love you guys!
The fact you created some amazing sounds in that short space of time shows how amazing that synth is! Think you would do wonderful things with it should you get one some day!
This synth is absolutely incredible. The concept of layers just RIPS!!
This synth is therapy!!!!!!!
I love the light grey off-white color. Black is so standard. :)
Excellent video exploration of the Gemini. Thanks, This one definitely worth some re-watches. George and his team created something wonderful.
Superb! Love George’s approach and ideas - sound as therapy! Thanks for this vid 🙏🏻👍💙
This is a lifetime of playing, learning and creating. I can totally see this in my studio. Every penny worth the while spent. This was definitely an eye opener! Great vid brother! 👊🧡👍
Really cool synth, love the look and the sound!!
Most informative video I've seen so far - definitely a future classic!
George is such a nice guy. Wonderful technical insight - his passion and approach are inspiring.
Incredible synth.
Lovely interaction Cuckoo, with George and the synth.
Great interview and some great questions.
The sound melted butter would make if it made a sound. Agree with Cuckoo, the sawtooth sounds great.
Love that vid. The vibe, the sound and the awesome nerdiness!
At times it has a CS80 sound to it ❤
I agree.
Thanks! Love this synth! 😍
Is it a Jupiter8? Is it a CS80? No, it is a Gemini. Great job, UDO 👏👏👏
Love the synth, but I'd love that UDO tshirt as well 😍
Wow, so many great sintys. Great video! Beatifull piece of art machine, its beast on its own.
Brutal sounds man. Love it!
Amazing keyboard skills, I'm impressed by your playing ability.
hes created a modern times cs 80 holy fuck
I’m a major league fan of sawtooths, but I know what you mean, and these ones really do sound thick and rich in a special way. As much as I love sawtooths though, I’m an even bigger fan of these Superbooth videos you’ve been rolling out. You’re such a genuinely kind, thoughtful, and curious person, and it’s cool to see how comfortable and at ease the people showing their products become when they’re with you
🙏🏼❤️ Thank you so much David! That’s the kindest comment ❤️
Stunned, wasn't looking for another polysynth but this is beautiful. :O
Wow...a classic wonderful organic instrument...cheers
It's lovely!
What a synth.. Good thing there's still a bit of timeto save up for this :) It looks awesomeand sounds stunning as well! Finally a synth that sounds different, it's got it's own character:)
My favourite sounding synth since the MEGAfm, which btw got a new firmware update the other day which added looping envelopes like what this has. Your demo starting 28:48 is amazing.
Bloody amazing does sum it up!
29:20 wowww super Kid A vibes really love the sound of the click and the noise!
The demo of the super 6 absolutely blew me away how fast it was morphing from beautiful tones to mind blowing sounds. Can’t wait to see what this does
great video....indeed this could be an ode to the CS-80.....it's sounds so different...just like the CS-80...not joking, in all the videos I have not heard 1 bad or boring sound. That's over RUclips through my HS8's, can only imagine how it sounds live.
I can't wait!🤠
What I hear is an overwhelming quality that can break through even when recorded with a microphone and listened to on youtube!
Oh wow I love it.
One of the more interesting new synths. Together with the 3rd Wave from Groove Synthesis and the C15. Thanks for a great vid!
This thing is lovely. I've had the summit on my list as my first big poly; but while slowly saving - and being somewhat hesitant about the menu diving; this lovely thing comes up and may skip ahead in the list.
I’ve got the Super 6 because I hate menu diving, this architecture is absolutely a wonderful sound design tool. And the Fatar keybed is wonderful, so I’m sure the one in the Gemini is too.
It’s probably the only big analogue poly I’ll ever own, though I’ve got a few smaller (and cheaper) digital ones which I play through the 6 as the MIDI controller. But the 6 is almost always my main go-to.
Agree with the sawtooth thing, UDO makes sawtooth sounds so good!
Looks and sounds like a bigger brother of the Micro- and Minifreak... Very nice!
I'm at a stage in my life (both age and musically) where I ONLY want specialty, hand-crafted synths. Nothing else will make it into my studio. This new UDO is the king of specialty hand-craft. Definitely grabbing one when it's released.
Congrats with reaching ✨luxury stage✨
Would you feel like less of a success, if you were surrounded by Volcas? Because, like, Grimes and Elon Musk... probably we shouldn't define success by such measures ("we" meaning culturally)
@@GizzyDillespee lol
Nothing to do with success. Like Reznor has said in the past, a synth should be it's own unique thing, offer it's own unique sound and textures and maybe even workflow.
Assuming the build quality is the same as the Super 6, you won’t be disappointed at all. The case is all bent sheet metal, there’s no wobble in any of the knobs or sliders. The microswitches under the preset/mod-matrix buttons feel like they’ll last forever too, they’re not weedy little ones.
wow thanks cuckoo
25:00 - I like this concept about "take the worst opamp" :)
This guy is not only the engineer but the true artist!
Some years ago while DIYing I've found myself that cheap components gives the most lovely sound! It's not about precise operations like signal transmissions so you don't need super accuracy like in space ships.
Also I've noticed that many Korg's top synths suffer from their "best quality components" approach. But some low end devices like NTS-1 suffer from the worst solutions (to give the affordable prices while maintaining some profit). It's weird IMHO.
George is an amazing person. Cuckoo is an amazing person. UDO make amazing instruments. Love the new synth. Prefer this to another big synth released in desktop format.
This is a masterpiece.
Creamy IS the word. This is so thick and lush! Thanks for the early demo video.
9:59 bass demo! Thanks, George
super cool!!
The blue UDO Super 6 definitely sounds superior to the other colors :)
As a big fan of the Super 6, I’m really glad to see this “Prophet 10” to the Super 6’s “Prophet 5”! I’m not surprised at all to hear the inspiration came from plugging a Super 6 into a desktop Super 6 and playing them together!
I find it pretty funny the 6 was described as more giggable, because my first thought was I could multitrack the two parts separately at home with the 6 but the bitimbrality could be indispensable on stage x)
The controls look so well thought-out, as to be expected from UDO. I hate menu diving so I love their stuff, plus supporting small local outfits rather than conglomerates feels nice.
The delay send, and the way of controlling the layers in the preset and sequencer sections looks great. Poly aftertouch is great too. Plus that ribbon functionality is probably the best-designed I’ve ever seen!
Though I notice it’s 20 voices rather than 24, maybe a limitation of stuffing the VCAs and VCFs in there? I’m assuming each DDS unit can still do 12, and therefore the limitation is further down the signal path.
Loved the nerding out too, especially discussing the differences in harmonics between the sample based oscillator and the algorithmic one. I’ve suspected that for a long time by listening to them, but the confirmation is great. (It may be mentioned in the manual, but since there’s mo menu diving I’ve only referenced specific parts when I need to :p)
hope this gets added to your studio!
Amazing stuff, always fun to play!
You’re right about the sawtooths, I know some people like them that way but there’s a lot of raw saws (and oscillators in general) that don’t sound nice for my preference, but the udo saw (and sub37, moog one) I have the trigon currently and something about the saw on just sounds off putting to me
I ordered mine already at Kraft Music - and I do own a CS80 - I can so many of the good similarities but total modern. UDO is showing Yamaha how Yamaha loses market share. Great job UDO!
I need this, I want this, i’m dreaming about this
Superb
There amazing synths these guys make , kind of like a ppg / roland cross a bit , I think is is fair to say this is a modern cs80 of sorts no so much in character of sound but in its ability to be played live into infinity and back .The 2 layers and all the hands on control mean it can do really nice dense ' one patch ' music recordings .
Damn, UDO synths are so awesome and so expensive!!! 😁
Thanks for the Demo, i hope they’ll make a desktop version out of that.
Sounds amazing. Wish it was blue though.
I would love to see a newer version that you can add your own samples and manipulate it with the knobs a trick your own samples out ,,,that would be so cool just like making your own personal synthesizer
Aha. Yeah, sample synths are tricky to make interesting. Wavetables is a fun middle ground where you can make your own sounds. For more flexible wavetable synthesis or sample synth check out Korg Modwave or Wavestate. Maybe it’s right up your alley! They’re pretty affordable too.
Have an Osmose…Now want this! 😃
George Hearn, synth designer and philosopher - fantastic guy. I‘m afraid I‘d buy the Gemini even if it sounded crappy just because it looks so cool!
Nice.
massive synth... the star on superbooth
Cuckoo - how does the polyAT keyboard feel? Is it heavier than a typical Fatar synth keyboard, but not heavy like a digital piano? What other keyboard do you think is the closest comparison? I mean just the feel of playing, not the aftertouch..
Just for my understanding, is the Super Gemini using the short-throw faders from the Super 6 Desktop edition? The faders look shorter than the those from the Super 6 Keyboard version ... anyone know?
Thanks for this. Man what a beautiful instrument. This is just so unbelievably inspiring. 🧠❣⚡⚡⚡🎛🎚
My God! I wanna watch the whole TED talk with this guy). Why does he make me feel like he is my old friend😂😂😂
Extremely interesting. I can clearly see, he knows what he is talking about). "OMG I sound nerdy..."😂😂😂 Man, thank you)
Holy baby Jesus
Any word about that white Super-6 back there? When is it going to be available?
This synth is as cute as this guy
He is a cutie for sure.
It's confirmed If you open the video and jump to @12:57 your brain will actually catch fire, and your face will melt off, and Godzilla will destroy your city 😲🦎
This is the poly to get!! Future classic. 🤓
If it was under £3000 it would be but at nearly 5 grand it's quite ridiculous. Only youtubers with big channels who can make money out of it will buy this, mostly.
@@uv77mc85 The user base of synthesizers are not large, so these poly synths are made in small quantities.
Find a synth for what you can afford, versus asking someone to lower their price. You want people to go bankrupt selling you an instrument?
@@dimllc Fking right i do
Do you know if they're planning on doing a non-keybed version of this synth too?
#NerdTime LOVE IT :D
If I win the lotto I’m getting one … great synth 👏
buy me one too if you win
@@fortheloveofnoise9298 will do !!
So cute
29:38 happy accident 🧑🎨
was super booth held at a summer camp?
Haha yes!
> be me: sells almost half his eurorack on reverb ASAP
Special…
Are you getting one Re?
Such an expensive synth and no screen to navigate sounds? Why? I cant remember what i added in user bank 56
People get tired of this preference, but it’s totally valid. A screen would make this thing sooooo much better
Wow! This thing sounds really squishy and for lack of better term, "Rolandy". :D For some reason I didn't get exactly the same feeling from the sound of the S6. Maybe just different patches, different people demoing, etc. My friend has a S6, and it sounds quite beautiful, but for some reason the Gemini is catching my ear far more. I haven't compared specs etc. yet, but this took me by surprise. Nice!!
Edit: On the sawtooth thing, I find that sometimes they fatigue my ears faster than other waveforms. Especially when unfiltered.
The Super 6 didn't really rattle my chain. But this is on the list for 2024. Well done UDO.
Really???
With no led screen how are patches saved/named.
The buttons represent banks and memory slots when you save patches. Back on the computer you can transfer, backup, organise, and rename the files to whatever you like, following a simple numbering convention like "p1_your_patch_name.s6". Although for the Super Gemini perhaps the ending will be .sg.
@@truecuckoomany thanks for the reply, really appreciated. Keep the great work up. Phil.
wow. how much is it going to cost?
I just took a look at Schneidersladen, and it's currently listed at 3,999€
i wud like a screen....
🎵🤓❤
Sounds really analog.
FPGA oscillators into analog signal path is truly special.
