    As a synthesizer designer, he has of course captured the soul of his instruments well and is one with his "babies". Nobody can promote this synth better than himself.

    Its amazingly exciting to be witnessing the next generation of great synthesiser designers come up in the industry. In 20/30/40 years, when we are all old, we will have seen the entire progression of George Hearns work and imagination through our lives. This is still very much the beggining... It's wild to think about really. Drum machines? FX boxes? More amazing synths!? Gives me huge anticipation for the future. I sense greatness in this man.

    This is definitely an update of the classic CS-80, love it. But my heart is still with the original UDO Super 6, that binaural sound. Had a chance to play it at SB a couple times. Hope one day to be able to afford one, and hope that you will keep it going as your flagship sound.
    Beautiful little speech you gave there, exactly what it is about, getting lost in the moment and away from the everyday.

      Its why I like the the playing here so much especially the intro, it's more explorative in sound design vs a keys virtuoso, I really love Vangelis also as a composer though many of his "signature sounds" are presets.

    I have always been envious of " artists " for their practice. It’s their daily work and through it they make " works " Maybe it’s to do with the medium. Gemini as a medium will always be beyond my means but it's colours will from this day on will be an inspiation. Beautiful presentation George. You’ve made a Masterpiece.

  • @FnorDiskordRekords
    @FnorDiskordRekords Год назад +3

    I really liked his comment about putting too much pressure on outcomes. Focusing too much on outcome.
    A lot of prolific artists have sketchbooks filled with exploratory visions of an artistic idea. Or several iterations of an artistic idea.
    Exploration is my favorite part of playing music, or writing (like playing around with the prosody of a written piece), or color composition of a painting.
    I think this is why I love synthesis so very much. It really allows the individual to dial in sounds that are sonically unique and evocative.
    Thank you for this demo, what a beauteous instrument. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

    Thank you, George - your reflections on the creative process being the real enjoyment, and not focusing on the end product (a finished piece of music; a song; or even just the framework of those) totally resonated with me as that sums up exactly why I have always loved synths: they are the way in which we can explore the sonic landscape, an infinite journey of discovery and wonder at our fingertips, to be enjoyed in the moment.
    I think the Super Gemini is a reflection of that ethos - that the journey is more important than the destination. Here’s an instrument that’s designed from the ground up to be tweaked, adjusted, changed and then expressed through the ribbon controller and the magic of polyphonic aftertouch. All of these are what makes an instrument a truly ‘musical instrument’.
    Having been fortunate to have briefly played a CS-80, I found it to be an incredibly engaging and emotive musical instrument and the Super Gemini is clearly influenced by it (as well as, I think, the Jupiter-6, another instrument I love) The Super Gemini really builds on the legacy of both those great instruments yet very clearly stands on its own two feet as being something unique in its own right - a musical instrument for the player’s inner journey.

    After a couple years of completely "bla", "boring", and overpriced "meh" synths by everyone, this one is hitting me hard. Unfortunately I'm in the process of buying a building for my studio / record label so I don't think another 4k instrument is on the horizon for me. BUT I've said that before so I'm not totally ruling it out. It's definitely on my very short "most wanted" list right now.
