I have been a quilter for ages and a RUclips follower for as long as it’s been around and you are one of the finest teachers I have watched. You cover all the details without any “extra” stuff. Love it. Thank you🤓❤
Hi from South Africa 🇿🇦 Thanks so much for pattern and tutorial. I've made a few QAYG quilts but never a big patch work alone quilt. I took the challenge 😮😊 He blocks came together quickly and easily, even the ironing. Then the rows were just as fun. I did get a few mixed up but that worked out well. I love it. I used old clothing as I'm recycling and when I look at it I remember things like my mom's washing machine cover and an old apron and cushion cover. Brings back memories and makes me 😊 Thanks for sharing. My next 1 is a potato chip quilt... can't wait😂🎉
Ivonne thank you for this super easy, beginner friendly tutorial. I’m watching the replay from cold, windy, rainy/snowy Greenup, KY. Jelly rolls are addictive!! I love that you can buy one like you said and get the whole fabric line. They are great to put 2 together for a quilt or buy a solid yardage and cut your own to break up it up if they are very busy prints. Extremely versatile to work with. I appreciate all of the different projects you come up with to use them. Stay warm and safe over there. 💙🤍🪡🧵
Most of my favorite quilts are made with one Jelly Roll and 3.5 yards of a coordinating solid. So many things that can be made. There are lots more projects trapped in my head... lol
I love your instructions - they are so clear and thorough! And I truly appreciate your explanation of how to choose colors to make quilts “sparkle”. I’m so happy to have found your channel!!
thank you so much for posting this video. We've got ALL the family together, doesn't happen often, was able to catch this after everyone broke into card games and I could sneak away for a few minutes, will watch it all tomorrow. Beautiful fabric tips.
Great tutorial on selecting colours and choosing patterns to pair…sometimes I am too matchy in my patchies (blocks). Like using white polka dots on black with its inverse black dots on white.😊. The various jelly roll race/strip quilt are also easy and quick quilts, too.
It's called the RING OF FIRE and I wrote the pattern. Here is the project page if you want to make one sites.google.com/view/jelly-roll-club/past-projects/ring-of-fire-quilt
Thank you for the free handouts! I think I’ll make each row 7 1/2 bricks, alternating which end gets the half brick, so that the rows are the same length. This is a terrific pattern to use up scraps and strips!
Good morning. What a lovely very informative video again. I’ve made 3 brick quilts already for my daughters with different themes. I will not be making another but I enjoyed your colour wheel info. I’ve got one but never used it. lol. I just grab fabric I like and put it together. Must give your idea a go. Appreciate everything
January 26 2024 Maryland USA: Today I found your page and all I can say is thank you, thank you so very much. I appreciate the free download with the ability to scan to the site.
I love the quilt on the wall that you plan to totally finish. I am wondering if you have shared the pattern and I just don’t see it. Thanks for your excellent podcasts.
It's called the Ring of Fire. My grandbaby calls it the fruit loops quilt. You can find the pattern on my website. I will post cutting information below Supplies: 1 jelly roll 2 yards of a contrasting solid for background 3/4 yard for binding 1 ¼ yard print for second border. Cut your solid background fabric into 2.5″ strips. Cut on the lengthwise grain (parallel to the selvage) so that you get longer strips (this will come in handy when you make the borders). To make each block you will need to cut: from Jelly Roll Strip 4 (2.5 inch) squares 4 (2.5 by 5.5 inch) squares 4 1.5 inch squares from background fabric Cut 144 squares (2.4 inch by 3.5 inch) Cut 144 squares (2.5 by 2.5 inch) Please watch the tutorial for tips and tricks for making this quilt.
Hi I’m watching replay from Australia. Love your videos but I can’t find where to get the colour wheel you mentioned. Your description o the colour wheel is the best I’ve seen. Thank you ❤
Hello from north queensland Aussie. Love it, thank-you. If you want a finished 10" block, add a 10 1/2" strip on each side, try a background or a neutral colour. Would you be able to 1/4 turn on every 2nd block?
I did a scant 1/4 inch on my rows with 7 blocks and a "chubby" 1/4 inch on my rows with partial blocks and they lined up on the edges. I hope you're enjoying your summer in the south.
Didn't get to watch live but I noticed that one of the bricks on the pattern is sewn wrong it is baby blue and gray. Thanks for a fast jelly roll quilt.
Hi Dana - the pattern is on the website sites.google.com/view/jelly-roll-club/quick-and-easy-gifts and you can download it to your device using this direct link drive.google.com/file/d/1y__r_yaZZDj3Ymz4DDHmWPAfoe3ekssP/view

Oh…. I like everything you do but this… to me looks like a tissues box (Kleenex) not really like brick. 🫣 But I like the look of the quilt you showed in the beginning, with all the pieces in center appearing to be the same light color. Well, we are all “different” aren’t we ? lol. I remember one time talking to another quilter and she said… I never put red and yellow next to each other. I asked… why ? She said.. it looks like ketchup and mustard, McDonald’s colors. Since then, I too avoid having only red and yellow together. I always make sure to incorporate at least another color in group, making sure I don’t have ketchup and mustard all over my quilt. 😂😂

Hi Sandy!!
Hi! Candy from TX here. I am really interested in the quilt you have hanging up in this video. Have you done a tutorial on it?
Hi Candy - that quilt is called the Ring Of FIre ruclips.net/user/liveG7o-adJ5AuM?si=5TZNwbPmtuw2liLM

Didn't get to watch live but I noticed that one of the bricks on the pattern is sewn wrong it is baby blue and gray. Thanks for a fast jelly roll quilt.
It looks right to me. Ask tv’s aren’t created equal as far as the color goes. ID right with what I’m seeing and what she’s saying
Question: why wouldn’t you sew the whole strip length then cut the 10” lengths? What am I missing? Thanks.
Hello I'm Carol fromvohio
Stay warm up there!! Welcome Carol
I don’t understand how you make them square, can you please tell me again?
To make a square, sew three 2.5 inch squares in a row. Then attach the 6.5 inch strip to each side.
I missed the live, darn.
Is pattern on web site?
Hi Dana - the pattern is on the website sites.google.com/view/jelly-roll-club/quick-and-easy-gifts and you can download it to your device using this direct link drive.google.com/file/d/1y__r_yaZZDj3Ymz4DDHmWPAfoe3ekssP/view
I have had a color wheel many years and have never used it! Stupid is as stupid does.
I love my color wheel - I have a video and handout showing examples of how to pick colors for a quilt. ruclips.net/user/live33YQZ9eoCNA?si=-cOhk7HUjEeVJswL
What size
The block measures 6.5 x 10.5 (unfinished) the quilt is 70x90"
Hello everyone
Hi Linda
Do you starch your fabric?
I did not starch these since they are batiks and very stiff already. Normal quilting cotton, I wash and starch before I cut my strips.
Another easy way to know if colors go together, is think about nature...if it the colors happen in nature they go together (flowers, colors of birds).
Absolutely.
when printed out the pattern it cut off the right side anyone else have this happen I can make it from handout but just wondered
Set to landscape and fit to printable area. I'm going to revise the page setting and post it again. So sorry about that.
Looks like batiks
Yes, I love batiks for scrappy quilts
I meant all three strip lengths…
Some are 6.5 inch some are 10.5 -
They look like tissue box tops. Lol
Yes, they do :)

Variety is the spice of life. You can make this scrappy or with a controlled color scheme, they look great both ways.
