    Also, Star-Lord didn't screw anything up. Like Korey said, if his interference was going to change the ultimate outcome, Doctor Strange would have stopped him. So, it either had to happen to carry out that single successful scenario OR it had no impact on the successful scenario. Plus, even though Doctor Strange knew they would and NEEDED fail trying to remove the gauntlet (he needed to obtain all 6 gems to do the snap), it had to appear as if they were really trying to stop him. If they just let him win with no fight, Thanos would probably realize something is up. So, yeah. Star-Lord's actions didn't screw anything up.

    • @o.t.d_ody_the_dreamer
      @o.t.d_ody_the_dreamer 6 лет назад +1

      Toukon4ever I was keeping your original comment in mind. If anyone did have a chance I would assume it's Thor. It would be silly for anyone to have a chance in the comics. So no Avengers putting up a fight in AIW isn't really an issue. Since no Infinity Gauntlet Thanos would smack em em up too

    • @Toukon4ever
      @Toukon4ever 6 лет назад +2

      Ashani Francis In the comic it was Thanos' ego that gave earth's heroes a chance. He willed away the full might of the gauntlet to impress lady death thinking he was powerful enough to win all on his own. And he nearly lost it all because he underestimated that with even a 0.0001% chance they could find a way to win. The movie never sets this up though. They fight him at full strength. And with that kind of power not even Odin, Thor, all of Asgard, Galactus, or whoever combined could stand a chance.

      Honestly for me the emotional part comes from being genuinely interested in HOW they'll be coming back, because obviously they are. But the key thing here is that the audience (for the most part anyway) WANTS to see them come back and tbh the way it ended works perfectly because not only do you please those who are tired of the good guys winning everytime, but for those who do like a happy ending (and presumably those same people already know before they enter the theatre that the good guys will win) not only will they be emotionally affected, but the hype and anticipation for the next one is stronger than ever.

      "I really think that Thanos should've needed the power stone to overpower Hulk to show his strength",
      No, that's EXACTLY why they showed him not needing it - to let you(the audience)visually understand that, on a base level, Thanos is as strong as the Hulk. Now of course, unlike Hulk, his strength doesn't "scale up" like Bruce's does the angrier he gets... but it doesn't NEED to. Thanos is a warrior/skilled fighter/strategist, Hulk is simply a brawler/unskilled force of nature. Thanos won't give Banner time to "get stronger", so he put them Roy Jones Jr paws on him, lol.
      Plus, Thanos is waaay underpowered in the cinematic universe anyway. Have we forgotten, this guy has gone toe to toe with the likes of Odin, Galactus, etc, you know COSMIC level beings... So, Thanos aka "Deebo", isn't someone to be taken lightly... I'm sure Hulk will get a chance to somewhat redeem the L he took here in part 2, next year.

    I HATE when people downplay the deaths in this Movie simply cuz we know they'll be back. Yall really can't make that a point against the Movie. If it's due to a plot device that the heroes have access to, such as DBZ with the Dragonballs, yea sure. But in cases like these, where the writers have cleverly taken away all clear options for those, the Infinity Stones??? That holds no weight, and we gotta wait & see how they'll get out of this. It's about the JOURNEY, not the destination.

    Tony Stark is Thanos. Not literally, but their motovations. Tony Stark from the 1st Avengers movie realized how vulnerable the Earth is and he was trying to tell everybody why he was doing what he was doing. He knew what would eventually happen if they didn't do anything. Just like Thanos, Thanos said he tried to tell the people of his planet what would eventually come to pass and they didn't listen. And Thanos's world got destroyed. Just like half of the population of the Earth was wiped out. That's why Thanos ends up saying that he is curses with knowledge just like Tony is.

    I honestly wish before his death they showed Loki as more of an overpowered badass like they did Thor.
    Like he's the god of mischief and tricks but the only thing he does is duplicate himself and stab people. It's more of a complaint for the previous movies since it was always hinted in the Thor films that he can shape shift into anyone and other tricks, but I wish more was done with him.
    Not going to lie, his death was zod levels of brutal, but leading up to it was pretty weak.
    All in all, this movie and Ragnarok has given me a new found respec for Thor.

    Honestly, it was hard for me to believe that Thanos was the sadistic psychopath they made him out to be in the other movies. I feel like it’s better when they’re done that way, it shows you why people would follow them. If Hitler was this hysterical cartoon we see in most depictions, then why would so many people respect, listen and look up to him? Same goes for Thanos, it makes sense why people would willingly follow him despite his monstrosities. Those people usually find something anyone would consider right and just, hook most followers in that way and then go ahead and splice their own way of thinking to it which is where the difference between a hero and a villain lies.

    Does it feel a little like they're setting up special relationships between each of the Infinity stones and individual characters?
    Power (purple) - Starlord (Entire plot of the first Guardians; he briefly interacted with the power gem and wasn't killed by it.)
    Space (blue) - Loki (It was inside the tessaract and wielded briefly by Loki, before he was forced to give it up to Thanos.)
    Time (green) - Dr. Strange (Obvious.)
    Reality (red) - Scarlet Witch (Color aside, comic-readers know exactly how much Wanda's powers tie into 'reality'.)
    Mind (yellow) - Vision (This one is connected to several characters, but it *literally* serves as part of Vision's mind.)
    Soul (orange) - Gamorra (Also obvious.)
    And is it a coincidence that all of these characters are gone right now?

    Thanos: I have to kill off half the population of the universe with the gauntlet so everyone can live better because resources are limited
    Anyone else: Why don't you use the gauntlet to make more resources?
    I love that they changed his motivation from the comics and it made him a lot more sympathetic and it just makes more sense. But honestly his plan is temporary at best since the population will just grow back again, even quicker in the prosperity.

      Jailyn the Great The Universe running out of resources, if people knew anything about space they know that bullshit. , i agree, that why NASA is so important if civilizations stay on one planet yes it possible to run out, if you exspand into space, improve technology enough to extract resource from space, it is infinite, the problem is organization will power, people would rather kill other people to get resources than do the hard work of exploration .

    • @joshuamunn3924
      @joshuamunn3924 6 лет назад +4

      I think changing his motivation was a mistake. having Mistress Death being the reason for him wanting to destroy half the universe in the comics honestly makes much more sense than his motivation in this movie which almost seems nonexistent to me, like my question with Thanos is "what did you hope to accomplish with all of this? You Don't wanna take over the universe with the gauntlet, you don't wanna destroy all life, just half, for all your life you have fantasized about this, you kill and torture people, and destroy entire planets, even killed your own daughter that you love clearly for what exactly? People say it makes him more relatable but it only makes me wanna see him get killed there's no redeemable qualities or relatable qualities but now that he won, there's nothing to stop and he doesn't seem to even care about anything else anymore lol that's why i think Kang the conqueror will be the villain in 4, and Thanos will die either early on and when they go back in time, especially if time travel is involved. But point is, I think his motivation was kind of lost but Josh Brolin's acting really made up for it and Thanos is a villain you really wanna see get beat. If he had been trying to court Death, it could've been silly but Marvel usually takes this silly stuff from the comics and makes it cool so it'd probably work.

    • @spibbymcgoo4877
      @spibbymcgoo4877 6 лет назад +13

      Where does it end though? More resources will just mean even more overpopulation. Then what? Create free energy lightspeed spaceships for everyone? Where will they all go? Create more habitable planets for every race in existence? Then the same cycle will just start all over again. Then what? What happens when there's so much life that there's no room to stand and so many people that it's impossible to provide for them all without relying entirely on one dude with a magic glove?
      For that matter what happens when all life becomes completely reliant on this one single person for everything to work and one day that guy isnt there any more?
      For him it'd be simpler and more merciful to just do quick cull every few generations than try to infinitely maintain everything for everyone until things get out of hand and he'd just have to wipe out even more people.

    • @atticusrex9468
      @atticusrex9468 6 лет назад +10

      Creating more resources only feeds into over population and doesn't fix the problem. His plan wasn't temporary as it had already happened. He'd already razed half the population of multiple planets to the ground well before he got his hands on the gauntlet. He already had concrete proof (he explained this to Gamora) that the concept actually works that way. If something is festering, you don't give it something that can nourish it; you cut it off.

    If they didn't show the gamora killing scene and just had thanos show up on Titan with the soul stone without gamora, even we as the audience would be like "what did he do to gamora?!" Then after the initial fight, they reveal what happened, showing the scene, while under mantis's influence and being held down, with quill pleading, yelling and asking him what happened to her. Thanos tells them, the scene is shown and then when the scene is over we are shocked just like quill is and even we would be on his side almost immediately, at least we would understand his reaction cuz we just went through it with him. It was all about the survivors having to witness this shit in the moment. And not only that, but it makes you wonder what it's gonna cost to bring them all back. Cuz outside of a few, the survivors are all the Original Avengers. Next movie has to be their reunion, where the unite one last time, put aside any drama, and just do this shit, before passing the torch to the New Avengers. Something I found fascinating about Thanos is that he pretty much seemed like Hitler if Hitler made sense. What I mean by that is whenever I think of Hitler, I think of a guy who said he wanted to fix humanity, but when I think of his overall plan I can't see how it benefits us in the long term. But when Thanos explains his plan, I sat back and actually understood how it could benefit us. It's way to huge a price, but it kinda made sense.

    • @paulmccloud9395

      Well Thanos was able to point to an event from his own past to prove his point. He told his own people overpopulation would destroy his world, and he was proven right. He saw what happened to his world happening throughout the universe, too many people, not enough resources.
      Same thing with Gamora's planet, everyone starving, a people on the brink of extinction, but after he 'fixed' it, it's a happy, prosperous world.
      As you say, Thanos makes sense. He could be right. I'm sure there are thousands of starving worlds across the verse blessing his actions, while those planets that are prosperous and thriving will condemn him.

    A ton of good points brought up by Coleman, Goodwin, and Martin. Even the nitpicks were somewhat logical and hilarious, and I found myself going "Yep, that's fair!"

    I find the complexity of Thanos to be in the subtle dialogue and actions he takes. The first time we see him being more of the “Mad Titian” was the beginning of the movie. First when he was beating Hulks ass. Like Maw said let him have his fun. Thanos is till a warrior and despite how passive he wants to be in the movie, his warrior side still yerns for the fight. I didn’t see him killing Loki as enjoyable for himself I saw it as him tying up a loose end. Regardless of what Loki would’ve said in that scene Thanos would of probably killed him for his failures and betrayals. The next most obvious scenes of him being the “Mad Titan” is with his interactions with Nebula. There is a great line he says on Titan to her basically saying “it wouldn’t be worth the parts”. I do believe that this version of Thanos isn’t the “Mad Titan” the comics like to portray him to be. To me they wrote Thanos as a person first and as the “Mad Titan” second. They really wanted to get across that despite him being the most badass in the universe he is still motivated by primal emotions. He let his fear shake his entire core and infect him. He became so obsessed to save the rest of the universe that he lost empathy for the people he was slaughtering. The only time he clearly shows who he really is, is with Gamora. Despite how she feels about Thanos she knew at that moment when confronting the soul stone that Thanos actually loved her like a daughter. She was always his rock always the thing to surprise and enthrall him. I can’t wait for Avengers 4 to see his full arc.

    Tony didn't get Spider-man killed. He would have been targeted by the Infinity Gauntlet regardless.

      Well I guess technically he got Spider-Man killed by not being able to stop Thanos.

    I thought the opening and some other parts were a bit clunky without any context.
    I think they should have showed thanos and the black order boarding and attacking Thor and the asgardian ship. It would have been a better opening and made for their killing go down easier. Probably was cut for time. Maybe open with thanos in a flashback to his homeworld Titan seeing his people suffering and having his idea of half genocide being shut down. End flashback and then show thanos approaching the asgardian ship. I think it would have added even more to thanos initially where you know already there is more to this guy than meets the eye, and that curiosity will carry on till they start really peeling back his layers later. Would have added to the gamora killing scene, and more context to when he explains to Dr. Strange (really briefly) what happened to his homeworld.

      Sahitya Kota I could see where your coming from but I think it was effective just showing “half” of the Asgardians slaughtered. It provided a level of confusion but intrigue for casual audiences. And for fans it provided a sense of dread and something new for an opening. Marvel already did the flashback opening with Civil War so i’m glad his backstory is saved for the middle of the film and could possibly be expanded upon in the next movie.

      DistantProjects I %100 agree! The dreadful music and the distress call just grabs you with tension from the start. And then you don’t realize it’s Thor he casually grabs off the ground until you see his huge hand grasping his head. For me this movie gets better every time I see it.

    Believe it or not, Avangers Infinity War was one of the first Marvel movies I ever watched. And when I watched it, I loved Thanos so much as a character, I didn't care about any of the superheroes. I wanted Thanos to win, because he was just simply the most likeable character to me. Also, I agree with Korey. It did feel like I was watching HIS movie, it did feel like he was the hero and the superheroes were the villians. 100 percent. I did not expect him to win, and I was very surprised when he did. I was like, "Well, Thanos. You defiantly deserve to rest and retire after all that hard work. I salute you."

    when heroes started phasing out, when Groot turned into dust does that mean that Thor cant use his new hammer anymore since the handle was part of Groot?

      was, is or its is still part of Groot. that handle is part of Groot so when he vanishes that means the handle goes with it making the hammer a paper weight now.......a very heavy one.

    This is a movie that really shouldn't have worked. But somehow, it did. I felt like I was watching an actual Comic-Book Crossover brought to life. Every pocket of story, separated by the individual groupings of characters, all felt like single comic-book issues of a mini-series. As we went from plotline to plotline, we were basically going from issue, to issue, to issue, until the big finale. Is it overstuffed? Hell yeah it is. Are there too many characters? Goddamn right there is..... But dammit, it was fun seeing all of them just come together like this. This is what comics are all about. And this movie is the only type of movie that you can get away with not having to "set up" their individual motivations, and see what makes them tick.... We already had a ten-year crash-course to get that shit out the way.
    When it came to the deaths at the end, I'll admit that as soon as I saw Black Panther disappear, I immediately thought... Okay, this shit isn't permanent. So I jumped to the question: How are they gonna get out of this? Yeah, they can use the stones, and all that, but the specifics of HOW are up for question. But damn, seeing Spider-Man bite the dust definitely was heartbreaking, even if i knew he was coming back for "Homecoming 2" hahaha. It brought me back to the scene in "homecoming" where Peter is trapped under the rubble, and for that brief moment becomes a kid again, and begins crying, hopelessly crying for help before he finally pulls himself together after remembering Tony's words. Here, he becomes that kid again. Even with the severity of the situation, Spidey really does act like he's on the adventure of a lifetime. But when he's faced with that feeling of death, he's begging for his life again, and goes to clutch Tony. It sounds like a cop-out, but the fact that the characters themselves don't know that there are sequels does add to their individual emotions in the moment. That's why it was key to see characters like Okoye be shocked by T'challa's disappearance, and seeing Rhodey hopelessly call out to Sam, and seeing Cap just utter "Oh God....". They don't know what they're in for, in the moment. Even though we know there are further adventures, they gotta hammer down the emotion of these people watching their friends die. In the case of Tony, the final shot we see of him (and Nebula) on Titan, is a frightening call back to his vision in "Age of Ultron" when everyone around him his dead. I don't even dig that movie that much, it made me appreciate it more as a set-up for what ultimately comes to pass.
    And while it might seem like a cheat or fake-out to "kill" the newer characters.... I definitely felt that it was a vehicle for the true emotion, which will be the fate of the original Avengers. Outside of a few strangler heroes, the originals all survive. So to me, that means Avengers 4 will be the original crew reuniting one last time to do this one mission, before going off into the sunset. Whether that means retirement or death, remains to be seen. I was disappointed we didn't have a scene with Tony and Steve, or any true reunion of the originals.... But that just means we'll hopefully get that the next round, when they go out in a blaze of glory, and pass the baton to the next generation of the MCU/Avengers. Shit this a long-ass rant. But i enjoyed this shit that much. Ain't perfect, but this movie managed to succeed in alot of ways where it should've crashed and burned.

    Some people are saying the deaths don't mean anything because of contracts and sequels and all that but the deaths meant a lot to those left behind and that's what really hit me. More than that, the MCU has taught us that everything matters, every movie matters to the movie that follows, and even when the heroes with sequels come back they will be changed in some way by the experience.
    Never again will we see storytelling in movies like this. Grand scale serialization. Great entertainment.

    I'm just going to paste my comment from another video, 'cause it pisses me off how everybody is going "Oh Thanos really loved Gamora, he's crying when he kills her, that means he cares!" Yeah, Thanos is real sad because he killed his golden child that he physically and emotionally abused for years; why everybody thinks the "kill the ones you love" trope shows the villain cares? It shows exactly the opposite, only an evil narcissist would believe killing someone you love to gain a mcguffin is "sacrifice".

    I love that Marvel hasn't released their next slate! As for the next films, remember that both T'Challah and Peter Parker aren't always Black Panther & Spiderman. Shuri and Miles have both worn the suit. Finally some stakes!

      So are we to keep an open mind on Spidey and Panther (arguably the 2 most unwarranted and unwanted deaths) being gone for good as well as the ENTIRE Guardians minus the racoon?
      We could argue that their future movies could be flashbacks to before Infinity Wars but Spiderman and BP just got started.
      I ain't buying it.

    Honestly, Scarlet Witch not having her accent anymore is a simple case of her becoming more American & adapting to the culture. In fact, she kinda would HAVE TO, considering she was on the run from the govt. ever since she went against the Accords.
