Word of advice. Anytime you want to see poverty stricken or blight areas in the innercity visit the NUMBER streets (2nd st. 4th st etc). I am a black man Saginaw born and raised . I left the city for a better career. Did not mind living in Saginaw but I outgrew it. When I got my degrees the job opportunities were elsewhere. If you can make it in Saginaw you can make it anywhere. You started off on the North end which is the worst of the worst (number streets) you should have rode around there more to get antrue representation of the ghetto or what is left of it.
But you aren't missing much in leaving, I mean the crime and street gangs have gotten a million times better, but it's just so GD BORRRRRING anymore, there's literally nothing to do. Anderson's gone, our mall is just collecting dust, no clubs anymore (the vu but nobody wanna see them old tired hood rats naked anymore) and the worst part is everyone walks around like they're king shit high class and not just another dust bunny nobody from Saginaw Michigan.
Really ain't TOO MUCH blight and boarded up houses like that left too see is there?. Most of our old boarded up burnt out houses got tore down, we didn't used to have this many vacant empty lots

Videos like these seem to look for the bad. Saginaw is a good place to live and is on the biggest upswing it’s had in a long time. Can’t wait to see the narrative around this place to change.

It looks country because every other house or building has burned down or been torn down. Most of the homes and buildings I remember from my youth are gone.
It all depends on the crowd you associate yourself with! If you went home and closed your front door at sundown the crime rate would shrink to nothing!

I don't know about now (2023), but when I drove through a few decades ago I felt uncomfortable just getting out of the car to gas up and buy snacks for the road. I've travelled through most of the U.S. and Canada so I have a clue of what I'm talking about. Scary stuff!
Let me help you with something . You going by some foolish report & status. I grew up there you rob the city of its economics status and leave them with nothing what do you expect.? I didn't see a lot of boarded-up anything. Usually where there are really great old houses down the block the windows are boarded, cause old houses cost so much to maintain. Hope you had the Greatest Thanksgiving Ever!!! PS., Did you get that PIT assembly for your front bumper yet? Love, David
You won't see that for awhile. All of these videos that will post for a bit I filmed this last summer. Come next spring when i go on the road for work again, then I'll break out the PIT - haha
Lived here most of my life. Both of sides of my family were GM employees and retired before the plants started closing. When the plants starting closing up that is what killed the economy and what has caused the decline in the neighborhoods which left a lot of decaying abandoned houses mostly on the east side (which is where you were you just didn't turn down the right streets) but also on the west side city and YES, those areas tend to attract crime. As far a murders, MOST of them are people killing people they know. A lot of it is retaliation. Sure, we have had some random murders by people who didn't know their victims but that is very few. Just like others have said in the comments, you mind your business and you will be fine. There are a lot of good people here! I do not feel like my safety is threatened based on statistics because I know what makes up those statistics and it is what I mentioned above and I mind my business. I could figure out a way to leave if I wanted to, trust me I would love to live in a state where the sun is always shining, where palm trees exist and the ocean is nearby but I would only do it to escape the snow, not the people!
Yeah they cleaned it up pretty decent compared to what it used to look like, now it's just boring as all hell though, there's Jack 💩 to do here anymore.
I live outside Frankenmuth in farm country, pay taxes to frankenmuth, live in frankenmuth school district, BUT I have a Saginaw address. It’s always fun telling people I live in Saginaw to see their reactions 😂

What they do with all the Mexicans. Portorecans cubens. What up. Yeah I know that they threw them out. As far as taking some one completely out of the picture. That's racist strong hold. Black people who were supposed to be running the school board. Seemed racist too me. Growing up there in the 70s.. i starter school 1974.
Most of them went to prison when they cleaned out Sunnyside/folks, a few handfuls of families still around here and there. What I always wondered was where'd all the Vietnamese and Korean families go? When I was young they were everywhere, now .......I don't think I've seen an Asian person in like 25-30 years.
Hey if Saginaw Michigan was good enough for ELVIS to come to twice in about a weeks time April 25th and Back on MAY 3RD 1977 its GOOD enough for anybody. Peace and GOD Bless Dontoons
