    Thank you so much for doing these reviews. I just bought Tumi Nomadic because of you. Tumi should definitely sponsor you!
    I'm a freelance graphic designer who works remotely and travels a lot. I was looking to replace my 5-year-old Incase Icon backpack with something bigger, sturdier, and more professional looking. This bag pretty much ticks all the boxes for me.

    I like that this bag's bottom does not involve the bottom pocket at all. The older bags have the bottom part of the pocket so the corners of the pockets eventually bend if your bag is fully packed and standing up for a long time. Not enough for an "upgrade" but a good design change.

    Following up here after I commented on your Search Backpack review. I bought the Nomadic at the CLT airport last Sunday on my way to Europe. Tumi shipped my Alpha Bravo Sheppard back home to me at no cost. In short, it's the best business backpack on the market. There are tons of backpacks but I am in and out of global meetings so I always like having something that's a bit more formal looking. For my personal travels and with more camera gear, I use the Wandrd Prvke 31L. It's a bit more rugged and I don't mind it getting dirty.
    The straps are a major improvement over the previous model I had. The zipper pulls definitely make the bag more accessible, especially the pocket under the clear section.
    I do have a few little quirks to share:
    1. If you put anything of substantial weight in the front pocket that you put your iPad Mini into and there's not much else in the bag, the top part of the bag caves in when holding it by the straps. Super minor but I wish it had more support.
    2. The little bag with the magnet on it is a bit tight to get things in and out of - you almost want to put things in there that you don't need to see to know they are there.
    3. The clear section is useful for things like business cards, etc but that's about it. I wouldn't put a passport there but that's just me.
    Appreciate your review!

      Thanks for the follow up. Agree on the iPad pocket and flap pocket. Had another viewer say that the clear pocket is also good for a boarding pass. This has been an awesome bag and I’m also thrilled I let my Search go for it!

    Thanks to your video, I went to the Tumi store today and compared it to my 15 year-old Tumi Alpha laptop backpack which is still amazingly rugged (steel D loops, THICK ballistic nylon, and MASSIVE zippers), and I still can’t justify replacing a backpack that has traveled a million miles and has no sign of wearing out. - If only the Nomadic didn’t have that weird clear plastic window and if the pockets in the main compartment were a little wider, I would have bought it today. - Every year I try to justify replacing my old backpack, and I almost did today. I’m going to wait until 2024 at least.

    Great review! Think of getting the Renegade due to the very compact proportions (not too wide nor too deep, rather larger in height) but still waiting for a good review first ;-)
    The part with the plastic clear window though, could it be for paper boarding passes? If so, it would be a great solution to the frustration of where to put those things within immediate reach when juggling yourself and your carry-ons all the way from the check-in counter to the airplane..

    Great review. Shopping for a slightly larger tumi bag for extended travel. This design may do the trick. The clear area under the front flap doesn’t look very tumi like but I would assume it was designed for a quick glance and confirmation of a critical item. For me that would be my iPhone and or passport when traveling abroad particularly when going through airport security and i need to make sure those items are still in the bag before walking away. With my current tumi bag i always have to open my bag and pull them out but the clear pocket/ flap would make it a lot quicker to confirm when putting the backpack on top of a suitcase after clearing security.

      @@BioGearDoes the laptop section have a false bottom to prevent the computer from hitting a hard bottom? Also, does the expandable bottom collapse to squeeze the bag over your suitcase in those ever shrinking aircraft overhead bins, or is it rigid? Nice bike.....

    • @BioGear
      @BioGear  7 месяцев назад

      the laptop compartment stops just above the expansion. The cool part is if you have the expansion closed, the folds in the expansion provide more floor cushion for your laptop. Not certain what you mean on the expansion collapse but I’ll explain the design: the bottom panel is semi-rigid and can be squished if necessary. The expansion area surrounding the bottom is soft and folds when zipped. The bag isn’t deep enough to struggle going into an overhead bin fortunately

I think the Nomadic is more practical for the use I’m going for, more comfortable, less bulky, and I feel the nylon will hold up better than the leather. Thank you! The expedition is larger than the nomadic in size and volume. The nomadic is a small step up from the Sheppard in size, and does have the lower expansion. If I could add to this question; I am an airline pilot and am looking for a new bag. I’m trying to decide between this and the esports pro large. I LOVE the idea of the shelf in the esports, but in your opinion, will one bag over the other travel better? Also, does one seem like it would hold up better than the other?

      @@nathanmurray6675 I got the Nomadic, best backpack I ever had! I travelled a lot with it and it's amazing how I can pack it with my 15inches laptop, iPad, lots of clothes and even bathroom accesories some souvenirs. I love the extension which you can fit a pair a walk shoes at the bottom. Very comfortable to carry, you don't feel it much on your back and love those easy access pockets. Great overall backpack for travelling and daily commute.

    I just picked up a Search for overnight work travel (small change of clothes plus laptop/access and some work stuff). I’m debating if I should get this instead. Thoughts? I like the bigger laptop compartment on the search as I can put all the work papers and mac there, and then clothes in the main compartment. It seems like while the Expedition is bigger, I’d need to share the main compartment with some work things. I plan to use packing cubes if that matters.
    Thanks!

      Get the Search in and pack into it to see how you feel about it. Generally it isn’t that much smaller than the Nomadic. I’ve been using my Search lately and am always surprised how well it loads up. If you’re having issues with fitting your belongings, the Nomadic is a little bigger but does have a few more pockets. Hope that helps!!

    • @Mmike3680
      @Mmike3680 Год назад

      I just re-read your comment here about the Nomadic and pockets and I think I may be making a rookie mistake in terms of how I’m looking at the backpack for overnight work travel. I’ve basically been just looking at the main cargo area and picturing packing cubes and my toiletry back all trying to fit in there, and I didn’t even think about using some of the other pockets as well with smaller cubes (like the two sides). I just assumed I’d be dumping cords/chargers in those.
      I’ll have to give the Search another look in that light. Also, will a Nomadic generally fit under an airline seat? In your video on the materials with the Nomadic on the left and the Search on the right, the Nomadic just looks massive in comparison. In this video too with it sitting in front of your car.
      Thanks!
      Mike

      Just saw them side by side in a Tumi store. The Nomadic looks like it is more for a weekend trip. I think the Search will be better for an overnight work trip. I like the layout of the laptop areas better since it’s big enough to also put in some work papers and a notebook and keep the main cargo areas just for clothes.
      Thanks for the reviews / help / feedback!

    • @BioGear

    How would compare this to the esports pro large backpack?

    • @BioGear
      @BioGear  6 месяцев назад

      Good question. Both are large but nomadic feels tighter, a bit less huge on the back. Part of what you want to consider is if the shelf and front opening are useful to you or not. If technology is the focus, the esports feels more intentional. For travel, I don’t think you’d be disappointed in either, but for some reason the nomadic just feels more like a correct formula, where the esports just comes off as a badass backpack.
