This was a hell of a catch. The load is more than significantly noteworthy all on it's own, never mind the power that got the call to pull it. You really hit the light good in all of these spots, ever since I first came to the spot while out there for a weekend a few months ago, I really wanted the shot of a southbound there at Laflin. I arrived there at high noon and didn't realize how good the lighting actually got there on the other side, I guess I know where I'm going if NS does runs enough in daylight on the Taylor-Sunbury portion now that everything is all (finally) set in stone. Great stuff, there isn't much in the world that beats that paint scheme. Oh, and me being me, I've gotta throw this comment in there too. Everything off the new cam looks fantastic. The 60p motion portrayal is incredible (well, when I can get it to play properly, but that's a whole other unfortunate matter). It almost looks "too" good lol, no that it's a bad thing by any means. I've really gotta start catching up on the content I've missed out on if it's all now being delivered as exceptionally as this.
NIKE RailfanningTTM that happened to me a lot for the past year and a half when my transition school bus went down to Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount Minnesota. We got stopped nearly daily by the Progressive Rail (ex-MNS) lineup of MP15AC's doing yard duties or the Union Pacific trains that occasionally showed up. It was always nice to see them pass by even if it meant being 10 minutes late to clsss
I remember seeing the D&H lightning stripe units making runs north or south back in the mid 80's passing thru Mifflinburg. I always thought that was a great looking paint scheme next to CP's dual flags & the Pac-Man paint schemes.
I agree. They had already painted one unit in Pennsy paint scheme I which the Sunbury line was originally the Pennsy decades ago before the Penn Central disaster of 1968. NS had already done all it's Heritage paint schemes of it's former road's it now owns.
I was actually looking at that too... I thought it was just a very tall retaining wall or there could be a possibility of it once being the foundations of a bridge?
Ummm... at about 2:20, they've got the caboose in the wrong spot and it appears the engine is running in reverse? No wonder they went out of business. :p ETA: I'm sure Andy's Café liked the free advertising! :)
The consist is in reverse for these few short miles because when the train is handed off to the Reading & Northern Railroad, the train travels the opposite direction with the locomotive hooked to the correct end, you can see that in the other video I took that day titled "Heat Exchanger on the Reading & Northern Railroad"
+LoadsofTrains Yes, this was the CP line from Sunbury, PA to Binghamton, NY via Scranton. I updated the description to include a brief history of the D&H/CP operations of this area, if you are interested in reading that.
+LoadsofTrains Right now there are 6 daily freight trains, and about 3 or 4 local trains between Binghamton, NY and Sunbury, PA. The plan is to expand intermodal business from Harrisburg, PA to places in New England across Pan Am Railways, such as Mechanicville, NY, Ayer, MA, and Portland, ME. There is also an intermodal yard at Taylor being served. I'm sure more trains will be added soon. North of Binghamton, NY, about the same amount of trains use the line, most of which already were run by Norfolk Southern before the take-over.
they still call it D&H ,and when you call dispatch they use NS D&H spent the summer in binghamton wish i felt confident to markup but i prefer watching over working it
That railroad had one of the great paint schemes. And, GP38s/GP38-2s are one of my favorite 2nd generation locomotives.
Whether it is gone or not, I will always love the Delaware and Hudson line.
I love that unique Squeak at the beginning of when a P3 or a P5 blows!
Very cool video. I work for a former air products plant here in Oklahoma and was interesting to see the caboose painted up in the AP paint scheme.
Anyone of Us that enjoys and loves Trains , Never wants to hear of a Road name going down !
D&H is still alive and well...just under different management.
Enlightened Iron by.... a bit of a Canadian one.
@@yalepelchat6613 canadian eh?
I like about a half hour away from Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, they used to have an ex- D&H RS-3 and do have two former D&H FPA-4s

In my years of railfanning. I never seen the D&H in my life. Farewell D&H railway.
Well, that's something you don't catch every day railfanning, a school bus stopped by a train!
Rail Fanning 844 huh??? TRAIN!!!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Rip bus driver

Awesome video and beautiful way to bid farewell. Great locations and lighting and catch. Sweet stuff all around!
Damn! That's a big ass compressor.. It gave the little geep all it could handle!

Remember watching the d&h rs-3s as a kid going through Peru ny. Tracks tore up many years ago. Just abandoned bridges left here and there. Really sad
Awesome footage dude, great tribute to the D&H!
+Dan Davis Thanks Dan!
My fav D&H is the Sharks.......outstanding video
Since NS is now a successor. They should really make a heritage unit as a tribute

Awesome!Great tribute! Perhaps one of these former Lehigh Valley GP38_2s Will be in both LV.AND D&H PAINT!
Very nice catch!
That's awesome!
does ns plan on keeping 7303 i8n its original livery ? its a 'proper' heritage unit
NS doesn't have it.
Now that the D&H has fallen uner the bland and blah black of NS, or as I call it, 'The not failing PC', NS should use 7303 as a heritage unit.
7303 is still D&H CP property I believe, not all of the D&H was sold to NS
Agreed though, NS should have a D&H heritage unit
The D&H was the best there ever was
starting at 0:54, it sounds like a song!
CP has a few D&H engines here in MN
Aaaaaannnnddd.... Heritage unit
What ya mean? Cp has to locomotives in the d&h paint scheme
Fantastic video!!
In the Yatesville segment, what's the history behind that tall abutment at 2:45?
I was actually looking at that too... I thought it was just a very tall retaining wall or there could be a possibility of it once being the foundations of a bridge?
That bridge abutment carried the Wilkes-Barre and Eastern RR over the D&H.
@@frankjonathan8043 Thank you
I’ve seen 7304 3 times in 2019.
Nicely Done!
great video, its a sad day for cp fans .
Good video

Not every line has a turntable or a yard at the end of it. As for the caboose, I can't really say.
Sweet Video!!
I am sad
That's so cool! Isn't this the same CP line that ran to Scranton PA?
+LoadsofTrains Yes, this was the CP line from Sunbury, PA to Binghamton, NY via Scranton. I updated the description to include a brief history of the D&H/CP operations of this area, if you are interested in reading that.
Central Penn Rail Productions Will CP still run run-though trains to Scranton?
No it will all be operated by Norfolk Southern now.
Central Penn Rail Productions do you know how many trains NS will actually operate on the line?
+LoadsofTrains Right now there are 6 daily freight trains, and about 3 or 4 local trains between Binghamton, NY and Sunbury, PA. Are they going to do anything to the line like take it out or is someone else going to buy it?
+Isaac Feenstra Norfolk Southern Railway bought the line and now operates trains on it.
thats awesome!
I thought co sold that unit to helm in 2013 ?
The train scared all of the pigeons away at 3:04.
By the way, great video!
cool video

2:07, look how slow he's going!
What did you mean by takeover by Norfolk Southern?
Norfolk Southern bought the line from Canadian Pacific.
Central Penn Rail Productions Do you mean the mainline via tunkhannock viaduct?
@@thomasweekley9209 Yes, Sunbury, PA to Schenectady, NY, including the Tunkhannock Viaduct.
I hope they don’t tear down Tunkhannock Viaduct and replace it with a new bridge. Why did CP sell the line?
We still Got D&L tho
Do more videos of SWP.
that looks like its part of the ISS
What is that the train carrying
WHY was that flatbed squealing so much??? DRY bearings?
I thought d&h died years ago
