When I watch other people's videos, I realize how little I know, but it makes me want to learn. Enjoyed the video and my wife will probably be upset for a little while when I bring home some silkies to add to all the other things I get into because of watching RUclips. :)

You only need one. It's a single dominant white gene over black.
You can put a paint rooster over a whole flock of black hens and half the chicks will be paint.

I love silky chickens I've had them about every color there is. I've hatched a lot of frizzle cochins but I've never had a frizzle silkie. Thanks for making the video it makes me want to get frizzled silkies. Lol.

I think that pretty paint silkie from MaryCarl should be named Nandina.
I have been biten by the silkie bug lol.
But to find the bloodlines I want to raise I'm having to buy eggs and have them shipped.
Its so hard to get a good hatch from shipped eggs.
I'm sure you know.
But I figure if I can get 2 or 3 to hatch to add to the bloodline then I'm happy.
Silkies are so much fun.
Those 2 new babies are gonna be beautiful once then fill out.

I can't wait to see the chicks that you get out of that pair. Please do an update video when you get some. When my grandkids were little they had a bunny( a checkered Giant) as you know colored like a paint silkie. Her name was Sparkle. I think that would work for a silky also. I think chicken genetics are fascinating. I am working on raising some blue turkens. I have bred my black turken rooster to a blue Marans and the chicks are a beautiful blue color and all naked necks. We will see what happens in the spring when I can start hatching second Generations.
