We have many Roosters and hens and it can be confusing aha, I never did it for an exact result I just love chicks, but sometimes you get 4 toes sometimes 5 toes 😂its usually the first thing I check, but one of our girls were born with a genetic wry tail and she walks side by side instead of straight ahead, but she is an amazing girl she raised our first 3 black silkies and loves dust bathing, and has a great appetite, one thing that is an advantage to her is she is small and light so its less strain on her legs, hips and spine, im not exactly sure what it is but she seems to be happy
I have been studying genetics , and one day hope to breed bantam cochins for show quality so I can join 4h and show them at our local county fair. There is alot to study before I feel confident to show and breed. Thanks for your videos they are so helpful!
I am so glad it helps, and that sounds like so much fun! I HIGHLY recommend the chicken genetics books written by Sigrid Van Dort if you dont already have one. I have her silkie version book and learned so much. Cant wait to see videos on your journey!

❤🇦🇺 if anyone can please let me know how to introduce a young rooster to 3 silkie hens all about 7 months old (I've had the hens since they were babies) i would love to know the gentle way to have him as part of my chook family. Ty in advance to any advice 😊
Hi! Lots of patience can make a huge difference. Keep them separate but where can see each other. It’s even better if they can sleep that way as well. Dog crates can be very helpful.

@@birchmoonfarm101 Yes! I have a roo that I thought was blue based, but he turned out to be a very light dun chocolate rooster (think platinum dun chocolate). His coloring is similar to Ash's!
