I did not realize bright colored chickens were so vulnerable, makes sense! TY for the video, a few of your hens tried hard to outdo your recording with their 'the egg is here' arias :)

Yes, they are very vulnerable. All of the prettiest ones are! The hens outdid themselves today! 😊

You can only use domanaint white with pure blacks to get paints.
Recessive white will no produce paints.
And that black with the silver leakage is what you want to use with your paints to cover the khaki leakage in paints.
I have never found a paint line in the USA that doesn't have khaki leakage. It is so common that 10% khaki leakage is excepted in show.
Any leakage in any other color verity is a disqualification.
So if you have a paint with great type and the only defect is khaki leakage you can breed it to a pure black with silver leakage and it will cover the khaki in the off spring and they will be cleaner.
I have been working to find a way to produce paint without khaki leakage.
It's going to be a long road.
In the UK their standard calls for a crisp white in their paints.
So I know it is possible to do.
Hope this helps with your breeding.

Wow thanks so much! I was just going for “beginner” breeding lessons. ❤️ I’ve got a lot to learn, but I’ll need the info! Thanks again!

Thanks for sharing and in my experience the last year with chickens you’re extremely educated in breeding and I appreciate your information. And in the last year, I have been breeding bearded and non-bearded crested Polish chickens, and the coloring works the same way if you don’t have a golden lace rooster and a golden laced hen you are highly likely to not get a golden lace baby. I’m blessed to have some top notch show bird bloodlines Golden laced Bearded Crested Polish. & my non-bearded have beautiful coloring Tolbunt “Splash rooster” but black on black crested hens with white streaks in their crests. Which have been making some beautiful color patterns “can’t find any Tolbunts or other splashes anywhere. Sadly & Splash my Tolbunt non bearded Crested rooster is absolutely gorgeous everybody that has seen him wants him and yes because of the different breed variation, bearded and non-bearded and different color variations that I have I have them separated accordingly to make things stay legit and 1000% show quality. My backyard probably looks like an assembly line with two coops and five chicken tractors in it. & chickens everywhere some inside some in garage some in tractors some free ranging lol just trying to do the best I can to keep good bloodline birds. I have a couple shorts vids you can look at if you like i’m definitely happy and proud of my funky pet chickens 😅 super excited after this week of quarantine to put my new “to me” silky rooster with my silky hen & start breeding some of those. The rooster is about the same age as my hen a little under two years old and they look like they could be identical, twins, gorgeous little cotton balls. 🤍

What is considered a "pure white" silkie? How many generations of white silkies are required to get pure breed white silkie?

I have a question about skin color. I got a few chicks from tractor supply. 3 yellow, and 3 brown. I think the brown ones are bantom easter eggers. one tiny yellow one i have no idea...a light brown/yellow silkie, black skin, 5 toes, black beak....And a large yellow chick, white wings feathered feet, tiny afro, 5 toes, white skin, white beak. I dont get it.

Pure Silkies always have black skin color. The last one you described sounds like a Polish chicken of some sort. Sometimes they will be labeled but different breeds will be in the boxes.

Sometimes it seems like I have a billion of those little white and black speckled hens and a couple of roosters as well. It's frustrating because I've been trying to get all one color lol, but yeah I got a ton and I think there's some sultan mixed in with mine as well. But yeah I think I'm up to about 10 or 15 of them now that are black and white. Mamasan, fancy, a bunch LOL I even have several babies in the horse trough out there that are black and white

If you breed the paint to paint, you’ll have a chance of solid color black or white but still at least half would be paint. It’s hard to get but also hard to get rid of 🤣. We love them all regardless! ❤

@@harmonhomestead7434 yes indeed, once you have it, it's there lol. Unfortunate when you're working on Bresse that should be solid white rofl... But my fluff balls are 🥰
