to anyone who knows korean here, whats the difference between unnie and noona?
If I remember correctly (it’s been a few years since my K-pop phase), noona is older sister if you’re a guy and unnie is older sister if you’re a girl. Korean is very “speaker” based so some nouns change depending on the gender of who’s talking. And if my manhwa binge is correct, Korean also uses these to the equivalent of senpai, so noona can also be senpai to a slightly older women that could be your sister although idk the exact context for this because I never notice unnie used in this way

@@anari234 Well, it turns out "where are you from" is a pretty tough question to answer. It doesn't even have to have anything to do with one's feeling about their ancestral homeland.
Supposedly a person was born in country A, but moved to country B at a very young age. In fact, they grew up in country B, naturalized at some point during that, too. Now, here comes the question: "where are you from?" How should they answer? Where they were born in A"? Even if they have basically no connection to that place? The place they grew up in B? What happens then if they got asked "no, where are you really from?"
I'm using nondescript names because this happens to Asians of all kinds in both Canada and United States. Hell, some Asians born here in North America gets asked "no, where are you really from?", never mind actual immigrants.

In Hangul there's the use of certain ways to address superiors, so Unnie (언니) = older sister used by girls to other girls, usually older or someone who has a cool aura, Noona (누나) = older sister used by boys to address older girls, Oppa (오빠) = older brother by one young girl to an older boy , Hyung (형) = older brother by boys to address older boys, some of this ways are used more for like accentuate friendship or relationship status, so it may use for flirt, you don't address someone just like that because they may feel uncomfortable, it needs context.
