@@rickanator65 gaining the ridge of Waverly Mountain was a good introduction to Seg 13! Wish there would have been better views for all the effort, though. Next time, CW!
What did you guys do for food storage against animals during your hike? I never thought too about bears on the CT until the recent posts about them in the CT Thru Hiking Facebook group the last couple of days.
We've always used an Ursack with an Opsak liner. Occasionally a bear can if required. We've never had an issue. If we can do a proper hang we will, but in most cases at or around treeline it is almost impossible. In these cases we tie the bag to the trunk of a tree. Seems most issues happen, with any bear bag, when not hung properly. ursack.com/pages/how-to-use-ursack-bear-bags
Just did this segment and I felt that the last mile was the hardest haha!

I agree!
Some trails are best shared with your favorite hiking partner
I saw that pic of your gaiters at the end! Where did you get those?
Dirty Girl Gaiters, worked great on the CT, they also have all kinds of fun patterns too! dirtygirlgaiters.com/
Man that looked like a great campsite.
It was indeed! Flat, plenty of water nearby and great views. That said, we were whooped and called it a day early 😎
