Last time I weighed in - it was somewhere around 27 lbs. hoping to cut that down even more since we usually take shorter trips 2/3 days. Maybe I’ll make a video closer to CT season.
Love your videos and website with reviews! My husband and I are planning a trip to Colorado and hiking our first 14er together. Do you have any recommendations for an easy to moderate hike with beautiful views that will not take all day? Thank you!
Amy Walker hey Amy, thanks for the kind words glad you guys enjoy the vids. Check out my blog post on the 14ers to find one that might fit the bill for you guys. Most will take at least half a day, especially if it’s your first, but at least you can get a better idea of what to expect on the one you choose. I wouldn’t worry about the views, they all are pretty awesome in that department 👍🏽
@@TheVirtualsherpa Yes! I've been looking at your website for hours. It is awesome! I think we have it narrowed down to Elbert, Bierstadt Sherman, or Princeton. Any preference on those?
Probably go Princeton - very quick hike if you don’t have a full day and beautiful views. Bierstadt and Elbert are zoos and Sherman is just kind of blah IMO. However, Sherman does have some old mining area to hike through which is cool but also v crowded.
@@TheVirtualsherpa Thank you! We have now changed plans and are staying down by Telluride, haha! Seems like everything around there might not be doable for beginners.
What date(s) did you do this hike? You posted it like 4 days late for me!!! Just wondering if you were up there this past weekend while we were doing the segment.
I watched 30 more seconds and see the snow field. You were definitely not hiking #6 this weekend. That was long gone. Did you jump to #7 also? We had snow there still a few weeks ago.
Download or go to the AllTrails app/site. You can refine your search by distance, etc. and it will help you locate local trails. If you aren't from here, take it slow and remember to bring water while it's hot like now. Don't try to do a 14'r tomorrow unless you're in shape. Take it slow and start exploring trails around Golden Gate, Rampart, Lost Creek, Roxborough or even start with Waterton Canyon to the dam (the first part of CT Segment 1.) Good luck and go explore.
Check out my website and use the map feature - plenty of hikes near Denver and with my complete usual trail guides for them all www.thevirtualsherpa.com/about-virtual-sherpa/colorado-hikes-map/
My husky has the same backpack setup! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for posting and taking me along with you! 👍
I mountain biked this. It was cool to see you hike it.
AWESOME guide. more subscribers deserved!
Awesome hike man!
How much weight are you carrying on an overnight hike? I want to be closer to 30lbs than 40.
Great videos!

Looks like an enjoyable hike even if you got a bad taste in your mouth in the way that it ends.
