    Ireally don't know why your videos are so underestimated, i've seen stuff in this channel that would make tackle shops cry on despair and fish go extinct if everyone knew of this techniques. You are amazing man.

    Really nice video of the Baby Bass Thermoformed Stencils. I made the box just need to get the thin stencil material and try my luck at making some. Thanks!

    I hear some “Ah-Nold” in your voice. I like what you have done and as long as you enjoy providing content and making lures, ignore the thumbs down crowd.

    Vinyl sheets work as well. The .02 thickness sheet is pliable enough to mold around minnow shaped hard plastic lures, very easily.
    I use delicate tape to adhere the clear vinyl to the lure.
    While on the lure, run a heat gun or hair dryer over thr stencil very quick,, maybe three passes quick passes on 350 degrees, to help the stencil form to the shape of the lure
    Next, draw your design on the vinyl with an ultra fine point permanent marker, cut your pattern out using a very sharp hobby knife.
    Use one lure as the cutting board, as the hard plastic makes cutting the pattern out much easier.
    The process of removing the stencil cutout takes the longest time, a steady hand and some patients.
    Leave the vinyl stencil on the lure for 24 hours to help retain the shape of the minnow while vinyl is cooling.
    Remove the stencil, trim the delicate tape back so just enough tape is left to stick to the lure.
    Place the vinyl stencil on the lure you are airbrushing and paint.
    Have fun.

    Awesome video and definitely looks like a baby bass. Could you use a heat gun on the plastic instead of an oven? if so it would be cool if you made a video doing that. Tight lines man.

    • @SplishSplashFishing
      @SplishSplashFishing  7 лет назад +1

      You can use a heatgun, but it has the risk of melting holes in the plastic. With the owen you the whole thing heated at once, so it easily shapes around the bait

  • @matthewgerathy2

    Great video as always mate. Thanks for posting. Are they plastic stencils for the scales or some other material?

    • @SplishSplashFishing
      @SplishSplashFishing  8 лет назад

      Thanks Mathew. No the scale "stencil" is made of some metal net i found at the hardware store. I think it's called "expanded metal net" or "expanded metal plate mesh". I found that if i shaped it around the lure it gives me the same great result as the thermoformed stencils.

      Thanks. The Cartoon Pike was mostly a "for fun" project, and as it didn't involve any techniques that I haven't described in other movies, I haven't recorded anything on its creation. However there are quite a few pictures and small clips of it on my facebook page: facebook.com/splishsplashfishing/

    • @SplishSplashFishing
      @SplishSplashFishing  6 лет назад

      About 30 seconds in 200 degrees celsius. When the plastic starts to get soft and hang down from the frame, you should quickly take it out of the owen
