Physics C has a high pass rate because the course and the test are hard asf. You only need approximately 50% on the AP test to get a 5.
Also if you're taking Physics C you probably got a 4/5 on Physics 1, so that boosts the score a lot too.
I might be misunderstanding what you're saying, but just to clarify -- the high pass rate isn't because of the low thresholds for higher scores. The reason you only need a 50% on the Physics C test to get a 5 is because the test is so difficult. That doesn't mean it's "easier" to get a 5 on Physics C -- the threshold for a 5 is lower specifically because the test is harder. The point of putting the threshold there is to account for difficulty. In some sense, the idea would be that it's about as hard to get 50% (or whatever the exact threshold is) on the Physics C test as it is to get, say, a 70% on the AP Enviro test. I would guess that the reason the pass rate is higher for Physics C is because the course is known to be difficult, and is thus taken by students who are generally more adept at physics.
yeah and i got a 4 LMAO pain that class was so hard
@@neerajgogate491 it's probably also the extra year covering virtually the same material but adding in some basic calculus. -someone who went from a 3 to a 5 from physics 1 to physics c

This is not a measure of how hard the tests are; it’s a measure of how well the school steers students to the right classes for them. Calc BC is strictly harder than Calc AB, but schools don’t usually push students to take BC calc if they’re not ready for it; something that happens more for AB
also most people who take art and design are usually people who are pretty good at art so it makes sense that the pass rates for those are so high.
i can very much testify to this. i am in calc BC rn solely because my school had no idea what was happening to student schedules and its been the hardest time ive ever had in math thus far
I wanted to take BC but my district doesn’t offer it at any of our high schools
Yeah aint no way calc bc is that high up

Thats bad. Get 5
@Victor Saliba I hope you are kidding and just making a not-so-funny joke. If not, screw you. Chemistry is one of the hardest AP classes. Only 11% of people get a five. And before you start trashing me(again, if this wasn't just a dumb joke) I got a five on my Chemistry exam, along with my BC Calculus and Language and Composition tests. I got a four on APUSH despite my SAQs being on topics my teacher didn't cover. So I am exceptionally smart, and Chemistry was still difficult for me. If you got a five, great. But if you haven't taken the class and the AP test, don't be talking trash. And once again, if this was a joke, it was kind of lame and not funny at all. Just let people be happy.
@@sophias.8758 you have such a god complex what an absolute loser and downer you are, even the person you defended probably laughed at how ridiculous this comment was. Seriously, change your mindset
I like how he said the classes have low pass rates because they’re usually taken by freshman and sophomores but some of the lowest ones are calculus, physics, chemistry, and stats. In my school at least, mostly only juniors and seniors take those
Calculus is high school stuff tf you on about
@@frederikbrandt424 what lol
@@frederikbrandt424 Most students actually don’t take Calc until college, at least where I’m from. Usually people take Algebras 1 and 2, Geometry, and Trig/Precalc.
Well those tests are harder so it evens out
Notice how the non calc based physics has a lower passing rate than the calc based one. Typically people who take those classes (excluding chemstry) aren’t the best at high level math. Calc BC for example is Calc AB + extra material, yet nearly has one of the highest passing rates. In my opinion, from what I see some people test out Calc with AB, and then those who do good complete BC, hence the high pass rate. The rest of the people just don’t understand it. A lot of those classes there are you understand it or you don’t. Add the fact that most of those are easier variations of other classes so students who don’t wanna challenge themselves as much are there.
also, with the art classes, they don’t have a regular test at the end. Instead, you submit a portfolio to be graded by the college board
This definitely makes me feel better about my exam scores being so low

I never took AP classes, because I just did dual enrollment instead, but I am a Chem E. major and I’ll say this: Chemistry is hard. You have to remember also that a lot of these are self-selecting too; ie, bc calc pass rate is higher than ab because despite cramming more material into a year, the students who choose to take bc and not ab are more likely to be more familiar with and be better at math than those who choose to take ab

Like he said, high pass rate does not mean easy! Take Calc BC for example. It’s fifth in terms of pass rate, but it’s a ridiculously hard class. It just has such high of a pass rate because of an insane curve, as well as students have to have taken Calc AB to get to that level. Kids who get to BC in high school are honestly a special breed, and there are generally pretty few of them. So, those who take the class are REALLY good at math, and as a result, the class has a high pass rate.

The interesting thing to keep in mind about this list is that classes like Art & Design, Physics C and 2, French, etc have such high pass rates because they aren't normally taken by the AVERAGE student. They're usually taken by the students who think they can handle a more difficult class (that isn't a necessary course to take), thus significantly higher pass rates due to fewer low score outliers. (update: i'm going through my youtube comments and found this; i got my test score back about a year ago & got a 5 !! the test was actually a lot easier than the practice tests i took in class in my opinion)
I took AP Human-Geography last year. Yes, the class was easy and so were the tests. I didn’t think I’d do great from low self-confidence, but I wasn’t wrong. The exam is nothing like the actual class. There were about 60 questions for me and 3 frqs. Literally, half of what you learn in the class doesn’t matter on the exam. It basically takes one section out of all the things we learned and focused on that. The only thing you need to worry about are remembering vocabulary, maps, and countries. If you know that, you have a good chance of passing, but from someone who failed mine (I got a 2), good luck.

I think the high pass rate for stuff like art is probably because most of the kids in those classes are genuinely invested and want to be there, while students in "core" classes like math, science, etc are probably there just because it was the "next step" in a particular course path.
I know this is an old comment but also there’s often a chance to “drop out” of an AP like AP art very late in the game which is why people who follow through are probably less likely to fail. I stopped taking AP art halfway through my grade 11 year and just switched my credits to a studio art course.

Because people who aren’t qualified to take AP classes hear that it’s easy and take it when they’re not ready. Or, even if they are qualified for the class, a lot of students just don’t study for the exam because the class itself is easy
I kind of understand some of the low pass rate. I've been to different AP classes and they are stratified in terms of students capability. Students in some challenging Math classes like BC and Physics are usually the good math students. US Gov and World History are very inclusive.
I took AP chemistry this past year and my teacher was an amazing teacher, and compared to this 56.1% pass rate, his students for the 2022-2023 school year had a 100% pass rate
I took AP US History and AP Chem a couple weeks ago so we’ll just have to see how that turns out :,)
hope it turns out well
Design and art aren’t supposed to be difficult, it’s just the people who make those tests are elitist, pretentious etc.
i just found out I got a 5 on the APHug test... it's my first ever ap test and i only expected to get a 4 max.
I got a 4 on it and was very surprised
Bruh I got a 3
Hah I got a 5
I have to take the APUSH test next week. This is going to be so fun 😢👍🦐
You can tell this man passed statistics, explaining all those Compounding variables 😎.
Thanks, lol
i got a 4 on both APUSH and ap human!! whoop whoop
no one cares
I care. Congrats!!
@@casualsparrow3038 thank you!!
good job!!!
@@skylar2600 thanks 😊
Where's AP Art History? I heard it was easy which why I'm taking it this year.
Ask your counselor about it and see if you're eligible! :)
Idk how testing works this year but fyi i was lucky to pass because the online test the first year of lockdown was easier. If we go back to the normal test, be prepared because you will have to (more or less) memorize 250 works of art, title, date, background information included (and with little continuity between the pieces). Just a warning.
@@tenzinchang6620 oh my
Real happy for getting a 4 on calc now, and not so bad about getting a 2 in physics 😭
Nice to know my first AP Class as a freshman is AP Gov, one of the hardest AP classes :/
Legit got the scores back from my first 2 AP Exams. I made 2 on both I'm so upset 😭💔
At my school, one program requires you to take AP physic sophomore year, some kids are 14 in a college level class 💀
"here's the rest of the list"
Me a high school student: THERES A REST OF THE LIST?!
lol
I took AP Human Geograph last year and made a three put of five, hardly passing, but even as a straight A student I was ecstatic. I didn't know the pass rate was so low! It was hard. This school year I'll have AP World History.
When you got a 5 in the lowest class on the list :)
Great job!
@@haydenrhodea761 Thanks!
Oops shouldn't have took AP Macro this year
I passed the AP human test with a 4 and one of my written responses simply said “it was the Vikings”. I had an F in the class all year but passed all my in class tests with an A as well. If homework didn’t exist and my teacher didn’t give us a required 30 page study guide before every test, I would’ve certainly passed with flying colors. Our education system is terrible.
Something funny was that in my AP computer
Principles class, we were learning controls and when she said control shift, I said “I know the person who made that. He’s my neighbor” and the entire class went dead silent 💀 😅
I just had my APUSH exam today, so we'll see lol
Psychology being in the middle is wild. I got a 4 on it back in 2016. I would have thought it would have been near the top.
love how almost all my classes are at the bottom of the list
Bruh I'm taking the world history test tomorrow 💀
Nvm lol. I think I did fine. Hard, but not too hard tbh
Music theory was pretty cognitively demanding, you have to listen to an entire orchestra and write the counterpoint and bass line for it or match counter point to instrument that you figure out from an audio excerpt
us gov and politics being my first ap exam of all time and being one of the hardest 💔
Yessir bout to fail it tmrw
The fact that you only need a 38% percent to pass the AP Chem test and it has one of the lowest passing rates is INSANE
That’s so true .I took human geography AP my freshman year .I’m currently taking 5 APs including chem, and so far the hardest AP class I have ever taken is Human Geo AP. Miraculously,I got a 5 !!!
I’m doomed for Human Geo 😭😭😭
