The AP classes I want to take in high school are: AP spanish, AP government, AP human geography, AP world history, AP United States history, AP macroeconomics, AP research, AP seminar, AP American Literature or AP language, AP pre calculus, AP statistics, and AP environmental science. 12 AP classes in total: 1 freshman year, 2 sophomore year, 5 junior year, 4 senior year. I took ap chem and I got 8 college credits for it because it counted 4 for labs and 4 for the class. As opposed to 3 elective credits for the calc class and I have to take calc 1 anyways even tho it's basically a class I already took and passed.
I've taken all of these classes, and the difficulty to actual worth ratio is pretty good, because sans calc AB the rest are a pretty good courseload and difficulty level
If you're doing something physics/math/ engineering related, I'd definitely recommend taking AP Physics. At most schools its a weeder due to the high amount of engineering students, and that additional physics knowledge in a low stress environment really helps (same with chem with bio-related majors)
When applying to colleges, take a look at their AP credit policies and note which AP classes are eligible for transfer credit. Hard science (Calculus, Bio, Chem, Physics C) and foreign language APs are more likely to count for college credit at the most competitive colleges compared to soft science (Macro/Micro, History, Psych, Gov) or Art/Music and other humanities like English. Some top colleges don’t allow any AP credits to transfer, although you may place out of some first year courses at the least. And, of course, take APs that are relevant to your intended major.

Hey, so I am a Sophomore now, and I chose AP psychology as my first AP. I was later found out it was full since upperclsssmen had priority. I tried getting in AP human Geography, but that was also at the capacity. My school doesn’t really have a lot of staff for the abundant number of kids at the school. (680 to be exact) so I am stuck with no AP this sophomore year and I couldn’t freshman year, so I am trying to make up that one AP I can’t with all honors classes, and challenging myself he most I can do. I hope I can do two AP junior year next year and three senior year. Is it bad that I literally can’t do an AP this sophomore year because of the number of students enrolling in the same AP? Like I can’t obviously choose certain AP that I want to since they have a prerequisite for them. I hope I can get in UNC, Duke, or WashU. Last year freshman year I had a 4.3 weighted, and a 4.0 unweighted. I calculated that if this year I get all As which I will work for, I’ll get a 4.5 weighted and 4.0 unweighted or so. Any advice or thoughts to my bad situation? Thanks. PS my brother got in the AP classes that he chose, but not me. I am just unlucky… 😢
Try to take as many junior year as possible. By senior year you will already have applied for many colleges and they won’t really care what you plan to take senior year. I’m so a sophomore but this is what I’ve heard. Sucks that your school doesn’t offer many aps. Hope this helps!

@hopsmax2827 I didn't need any outside resources since the packets my teacher gave were more than enough. The class at my school was much harder than the exam itself, with almost everyone, including some who even got 70s in the class, getting 5 on the exam. But even then, it was super simple to get an A, it just depends on if you're willing to put in the effort. So each unit had a packet that was 30-40 pages long. During lectures, my teacher went over random problems in the packet. Instead of just copying down what the teacher writes, actually try to do the problem yourself. Check whatever you did wrong with the teacher's work At home, do the entire packet two times. First time, just try to get a deep understanding of how to do the problems. Second time, solve them as if taking a test. Try to do them as fast as you can, while also making sure you don't make careless mistakes ever What I said above is solely based on my personal experience on how to get an A in the class at my school. To get a 5 on the exam, simply do the packet once and its fine to even have the answer key open next to you (based on my friends who got mid to high B's but 5 on the exam). I have no idea if your teacher will be handing out as much homework as mine did. If not, try searching for past ap exam questions or use ap classroom over the unit you're on and do them a bunch until you stop making careless mistakes It's honestly not as much work as it sounds, say you've got 2 weeks per unit, you can do around 4 pages per day (maybe 16-24 problems, which should take less than an hour per day). Ofc it can stack up with your other ap classes and extracurriculars, but it'll save an entire year more time by letting you skip Calc 2 as well as Calc 1, so it's definitely one of the more relevant ap classes
@@stanky5187 thanks a lot man, that helped. i will def do this next year when i take calc bc. ig its all about practice and understanding, im overcomplicating it 😂i just need to work on my time management skills and split up work evenly instead of cramming. preciate it

I also became a better at presentations, memorization, and writing fast. But for the most part you're right. AP classes didn't do much for me aside from saving some money in college. I loved AP Gov so much, my teacher made the class fun and went beyond just teaching us the necessary concepts like some of my other AP teachers did.
I took AP Calculus BC as well as AP Statistics. Only passed the Calculus exam though considering I was mainly a math person and didn’t put much effort into statistics. I must say I agree with this video- they were very useful
A gov class should be mandatory for graduation bc it’s honestly scary how certain people are actually able to vote
Thank God of the four AP classes my high school offers, three of them are on this list.
I also recommend both AP Microecon & Macroecon classes so that u don’t have to take either of them in college especially if you’re a Business major
Its funny how calc AB is considered most useful and calc BC most difficult, though the difference between them is just 2 units
“You will learn general data and probably most tatattic”😂😂
John got to college with the graduation requirements done 💀
Im taking AP Stats for my upcoming junior year lol
My school has no ap math classes but they have Ap Gov, Bio, English, World History, Apthrolagy(I can't spell for crap), and Spanish. I'll take ap gov sophomore year. Sadly my private school didn't have placement tests so when I finished 8th grade even with really good grades I had to go to Reg classes until next semester where I will be moved to honors. I'm in IM2 my school doesn't have algebra 2 for freshman.💀
I want to go to Georgetown and study political science and government as my major and international affairs as my minor to become a lawyer and a US senator. I hope I end up having a life. 😂
I’m in AP Lang as a High School Junior it’s a little tedious but an easy class I recommend it 😁
I’m taking AB calc, AP Lang, and AP GOV this year😂
I wish I could take those Aps! My high school only has 3 and our DC classes aren't teaching us any of the material of an Ap class either. I wish I could take Ap physics, chemistry, bio, and Calc Bc but sadly I have to resort to Khan Academy 😢
All of this assumes that the class is managed and taught well enough at your school that you’ll actually learn the material to get credit 🥲
Hmm honestly I think it's easier to just take calc in college than do AP Calc. I've taken both and I found college calc to be much easier
When 3/4 of those classes are mandatory...
mandatory?? u mean the regular class or the AP class
I’m taking 2 of these in senior year, language and statistics!
AP lang imo is the most useful class if you plan on going into a major in the liberal arts realm in college
I’m taking ap gov right now in my sophomore year, mainly cause I have a slight interest in politics, but the class is stupidly easy lol
Bro proceeded to list everything i wanted ti steer away from
Yep I regret not taking as much ap classes as i could I took a few but thats it
Calc AB KEKW
I took AP stats and AP Gov in highschool and Senior year I did dual enrollment for college writing 1 and 2. Definitely agree to do all these as you are ahead of your peers. It’s great to have your Math and English requirements done before you even start college.
I took dual credit statistics, it was hell on earth
I have taken apes, aphug, and I'm currently taking apgov. it one of my favorite ap classes ever and I have already learned so much already. I recommend it 10/10. it's very beneficial to have a solid understanding of our government system.
im taking APWH right now and im considering taking APCSP probably
me in India, with no AP classes: mhm.. yes super helpful.. definitely gonna take these classes...
sorry to hear that
Wow! I some how managed to take 3 out the four he recommended unknowingly.
Not me being in elementary school and being like what are you saying
I'm only taking AP Lang so at least I have one lol. I chose Pre-Calc over AP stats and I think it's for the best. If I wanna not cry ever 2 seconds, precalc is better
I’m taking all of those this year :)
So currently, my schedule is as follows:
AP Stat
AP Gov
College Comp Sci or Adv Comp Sci AB
A regular high school course
AP BC
ENGLISH 12 DE
PHYSICS C: M
Is this having a life
Ye
What year in high school is this?
bro this is def having a life, ppl in my school are taking like 6+ minimum APs. dw this isn't a no life schedule. its good, perfect. stick with it.
@@hopsmax2827 It's been a few months out of high school. No yeah it was just fine, but I wish I solved my eczema a bit sooner.
ngl seeing ap lang given a lower difficulty rating than calc ab feels reassuring
AP Lang was hell.
Me waiting for him to me how to get out of school early
I’m only taking 4 AP’s next year and 7 throughout high school 😂(Gonna be a senior next year)
taking 2 of these my senior year
I would recommend taking AP Chemistry and AP Physics and including Comp Sci APs if you want to go in the engineering field as a basic requirement.
How tf do you take 23 AP’s in high school?
Large or private high schools
Self study the easier ones
Every single class? And 0 periods 🤢
6 periods of AP Classes in 4 years.
@@blockofvik7133 For my high school, you can only take APs starting junior year, with the exception of AP Euro and AP seminar
Good news I’m already taking AP Lang and calc AB and with the course path I’m on statistics is next year. Also I cannot handle an AP social studies, I already tried Apush and moped out of that one ASAP
As of yet I haven’t used calculus in the slightest considering I’m a business student but at least I’m well over prepared.
I only took 2 APs being ap calc ab and AP chem
I passed AP calc and got a 3 on the exam even tho I slept thru class every day but even tho I passed I still have to take calc 1 even at community college so would not recommend
At least not as much as chem.
There are like 7 options over all 4 years at my school. Yay
Imagine having AP classes.
@@brianfeuerman1732 yeah we don’t have any here either. Though I’m taking AP exams in may and self studying for them. So that’s an option if you want to take AP classes
@@ava1872 Sadly I don’t have many testing locations near me :(
@@brianfeuerman1732 mine are pretty far too, in another city. But I understand that it may not be possible for you :(
I started AP Calc AB last year but dropped it because I had to miss a month of school for surgery and health problems. I knew I would never recover in that class lol. I'm taking stats this year.
As an uprising Junior, here are the AP courses I've taken or will be taking through 2024
10th: AP World History
11th: AP U.S History
11th: AP Spanish Language and Culture
11th: AP Seminar
I got my associates before I graduated high school not to mention going to state in 2 sports. Idk why people say you can’t have a life from taking hard classes. Just use your time wisely.
Right now I'm on track to take AP calc AB and AP Gov
That's awesome. I took Honors Algebra 2nd semester my freshman year and if they put me in it 1st semester I would be too. Unfortunately I might not be able to take AP Calc during high school. Freshman year, placement was determined by standardized tests and I'm not good at those
@@siobhanbartz6460 I'm sorry to hear that. At my school my Freshman year I'm taking Algebra 1 Sophomore year Geom/Alg 2 Junior year pre calc and Senior year calc AB
@@ilikecats6016 that's awesome. I'm happy for you 😄 I would have been on that track but I joined Honors Algebra 1 my freshman year late so I would have missed a lot of stuff
@@ilikecats6016 wait you get to take geometry and algebra 2 in the same year ? We have to take them in separate years
@@Potato_pigeon at my school there's the option to take algebra 2 and Geometry in the same year (this is a fast pace class) so that students can get to calc their senior year if they wanted. There is also the option to take the class separately which is what most people do if math isn't there strong subject.
I hated AP calc sm, but looking back I’m happy I took it. Definitely would recommend for juniors tho and not seniors bc I doubt it would mix well with senioritis
Ap Gov for sure that class is really really good
Hey, so I am a Sophomore now, and I chose AP psychology as my first AP.
@@tylerfrazier1468 Well if you're applying regular decision, colleges require you to send a mid-year report in your senior year. So it's gotta be of some value, right?
I have taken these before, I wanted to take AP calc instead of AP stats though since I wanted to major in math, now it's too late :
Did you try seeing if you could sign up for the class online? Or maybe self study and take the exam?
I only took a few aps in high school but I am really glad I took gov. Also coming from someone who does not strive for the same high achieving standard that this guy does, gov wasn’t overwhelmingly difficult. And I got a 4 on exam. Also even though I did not do well on the exams, taking AP micro and macro did help prepare me for my undergraduate Finance courses. The other I took was bio which I did well on the exam and got to apply in college, along with gov.
i’m actually proud of myself cause i’m taking ap calc ab and ap lang next year 😎😎
US gov was a suprisingly interesting class
100% ball knowledge
I need advice. What classes should I take. I am going into my freshman year. I am taking honors geometry, honors English 1, honors physics 1, and normal us history. Should I change any of my classes. I am a straight A student and I want to go to UPenn to be a neurologist. I am also taking Spanish 1, video productions, foods, and physical education. I am also joining multiple clubs. There is a medical field preparation club, a suicide and bullying prevention club I have been in since 5th grade, I am in 2 volleyball teams, I do horse back riding, and volunteer at an animal shelter. An I doing to much, should I change any of my classes or do more sports or clubs.
AP Bio will save you three semesters in college.
Have you done a video on how to find and pursue extra curriculars and what are the most important ones
Is AP chem worth it, I’m considering taking it
If its your first ever ap course, have fun
If your a stem major absolutely, do both if you can, if you study well on the test and get a 5 your can skip college classes and it looks great. If you’re planning on a stem and can’t handle ap chemistry I’m sorry but don’t be a stem major
I am trynna choose between AP Chem and AP Bio but I think that I’m choosing AP Chem since Chem Honors was easy to me. I am expecting it to be hard anyways.
@Carlos-cv2di ya it should be, AP bios easy though just took it
@@ayyankhan5758 they asked me what I wanted to be in the future and I said that I wanted to be an electrical engineer. They told me that the best option was AP Chem
Ayee I took 3/4 of these classes! The only one I didn't take was AP calc ab
Very good advice for the smart kids
Damn bro is gonna beat his brother in subs
zimbabwe 🇿🇼
I disagree with taking ab instead of bc, the pass rate is higher for bc for a reason
And also you get credit easier with bc
Plus the course takes no talent. Doesnt matter if you arent a math person. Just do 10 problems a day and u will ace the class
really? what did you do to study for the class. any helpful online resources of extra study methods? im taking it next year as a junior.
Check whatever you did wrong with the teacher's work
At home, do the entire packet two times. First time, just try to get a deep understanding of how to do the problems. Second time, solve them as if taking a test. Try to do them as fast as you can, while also making sure you don't make careless mistakes ever
What I said above is solely based on my personal experience on how to get an A in the class at my school. To get a 5 on the exam, simply do the packet once and its fine to even have the answer key open next to you (based on my friends who got mid to high B's but 5 on the exam). I have no idea if your teacher will be handing out as much homework as mine did. If not, try searching for past ap exam questions or use ap classroom over the unit you're on and do them a bunch until you stop making careless mistakes
It's honestly not as much work as it sounds, say you've got 2 weeks per unit, you can do around 4 pages per day (maybe 16-24 problems, which should take less than an hour per day). Ofc it can stack up with your other ap classes and extracurriculars, but it'll save an entire year more time by letting you skip Calc 2 as well as Calc 1, so it's definitely one of the more relevant ap classes
@@stanky5187 thanks a lot man, that helped. i will def do this next year when i take calc bc. ig its all about practice and understanding, im overcomplicating it 😂i just need to work on my time management skills and split up work evenly instead of cramming. preciate it
@@stanky5187 currently im taking ap preclc so this helps a lot too.
In my AP comparative and government class, me and the other students became more aware of the world around us and how it affects us. It may not be necessary for college, but it switched a lot of mindsets from “the USA is the only country that matters” into “we can learn a lot from the of other governments from their history and their current states.”
"unlike him"
AHHAHAHA
Ngl I didn't learn a single thing taking these ap classes. All I did was memorize some shit and then spew it back out on the exam. Completely forgotten that useless information now
AP Art History helped me look at Art, Fashion, and Architecture differently as well as learning ways to talk about and analyze art. I also became a better at presentations, memorization, and writing fast. But for the most part you're right. AP classes didn't do much for me aside from saving some money in college. The dumb culture of encouraging kids to take 4 5 6 AP's is stupid. High School is a one-time experience so why would you make your experience more stressful?
@@warwick802 Well it’s exactly what you said.
I was definitely encouraged to take multiple AP classes just to save money in college (considering how expensive everything is) and the same probably goes for tons of other students out there.
Other than that, the only other reason why people typically encourage it is to get a high GPA for Ivy Leagues but it’s really up to the individual to decide that for themselves since having a packed schedule sucks 😩
Can you do the most useful textbooks for these 4 AP classes?
my school doesnt let you graduate unless you pass calc ab
