"If you are standing on the roof, this backing is extremely slippery and if you step on it you just might make it all the way to the ground." Funny but true!
My plan was to make a covered firewood rack out of pallet wood and I stumbled across some shingle bundles that have been gathering dust since we did the roof years ago. This was the perfect level of backyard engineering that I needed to get things started. Thanks!

Concrete roof is the way to go , it can last for up to a century. It’s one of the most long-lasting roofing materials available in the market, and yet I don’t understand why peoples still using this crap to build their roofs . A concrete roof is storm , hurricane and fire proof . They generally low maintenance, meaning they are easy to clean and aren’t too difficult to access. You can even host a party on your roof :) . I never understood why American are using this crap and keep waisting their money on repairs and replacement every 5 to 10 years . Very stupid

Great video Dan.
Thank you, sir!
I have a roof shaped exactly like your playhouse albeit much bigger. Should i put a drip edge on those sides?
You have excellent talent. What are the most durable shingles to use to roof your house?
Owens Corning is always a good choice. Generally dimensional shingles are thicker, could be tougher.
This guy has no talent and hes using shingles from home depot that he used on his own roof do not I repeat do not do anything this guy just said to do you will ruin your roof
Thanks Daniel....I wish you had a video for 3 tab shingles....do you??
Great job.
I don't, but the process is very similar. You just cut on the shingle split and don't overlap cuts row-to-row
Wait you have a point do you just Measure the ends of the full full shengel
When do you add the drip edge? On top or underneath the ice shield/tar paper?
under all layers. Everything should overlap on the way down
Exactly what materials are needed again.. lol I think I'm going to try to redo my dad's roof
I would recommend watching this video again, google image searching the layers of an asphalt roof, and then going to a home improvement store where you will buy the materials and speak with them in detail about what you will need. Thanks!
What you need the tar paper between underlying and shingles?
It goes between the decking and the shingles, but because this roof is so small it also overlaps a lot with the ice and water shield
Does redoing a roof usually replace the OSB or only when needed?
Only when needed
What’s your camera resting on? Or is it a giant tripod?
A 12-foot step ladder!
Probably a gutter
How come people don't seal the wood with epoxy? Wouldn't that save the wood from water damage?
Interesting thought. Ideally, the water never reaches the surface of the wood anyway. Epoxy can be expensive too.
@@TheCousinDan Paid once cry once as they say. If you do it, then your roof will last your lifetime.

Can you use felt paper instead of tar paper??
Awesome video and you have good masculine charisma thanks for sharing
Yeah that’s like a rare thing you see in young guys nowadays.
Haha, thanks guys.
you, are a good man. great job.
Thanks
What glue did you use on the dash board when you was doing it
What is tar paper?
Paper saturated with tar
Any roofing jobs available
Not at the moment

You threw that on a tarp? Right?
Of course!

Our Midwest climate and humidity levels do better with insulation and venting. This is also WAY cheaper.
Also, almost all have 30 year warranties. If you're only getting 5 then that's a major issue.
