Great video, I’m a project manager for a roofing company and we explain this to all of our potential customers so they understand how a roof is supposed to be properly installed
I wish I had watched this before Hurricane Michael hit us in the Florida Panhandle! We finally got rid of a scam roofer, and decided to not even deal with the roof. But now, after watching this video, I'm prepared to talk to another contractor finally! Thank you!!
Find someone that works with your insurance company like evolve construction. They helped my sister with her roof after the hurricane and all she had to pay was her deductible. They made sure the insurance company approved everything the home actually needed too.
I’m a hands-on learner, brother you explained this very very well. Thank you for the help! You don’t have to do this, but you do, thank you for your service!
I’m helping my buddy start his construction business. I’ve done sales and marketing for a good insurance company in central Illinois. My parents were always savvy but I wouldn’t mind learning from you. Lmk if you have time for some questions, I’m 5 days in the game for their business (our business, gotta own it, I even wear the company shirt all time while DoorDashing too) and have 15 leads, 1 inspection done, 2 set up for Monday and have follow up calls. I just to learn more about roofs and how to rebuttal to a client that a new roof after inspecting it, that a new roof is an investment to their home that will bring value if they plan to sell it or pass it down to anyone plus it prevent anything else from happening like leaks, rotting, etc. . I have the confidence but I need the knowledge to rebuttal a client “on the spot”, since I know everyone is trying to sell them (the customer) on anything and everything.
Thank you so so much! About to start a new position at work where I'll be ordering all materials for our roof deals. This is extremely helpful and educational!

I worked for a small town boy and roofing was some of the most gratifying work I've ever done as long as the pitch wasn't too steep, busting out and using toe boards were a pain in the ass. Tear off was satisfying, using a shingle cutter to get a perfect end cut was amazing. The worst part was being 140 pounds and hauling up an 80 pound bundle. Roofers should be paid more than plumbers and electricians imo just for the danger factor
Thanks for posting this. It's great to be able to understand when the roofer is speaking. How much does the siding type effect the roof job. I have three year old Alside Ascend Composite Cladding Siding (installs like vinyl with a J channel on the bottom). How hard is it to replace the step flashing (I think you skipped that term). I'd guess the J channel is screwed through the old step flashing. Seems like Hardie could be a pain too. For the ridge venting... I like the idea, but I have a whole house fan requiring 9 sq feet of venting. I don't think a ridge vent alone is enough... And, I've also had squirrel problems. Need metal covers over everything. Sigh.
