MG Unicorn (HD Color + Cage) Wound up being the gateway kit of my modern Gunpla career, and I 'recently' built the Perfectibility version, and my impression was that this is one of the most enjoyable kits to build to this day. Once built, doing ANYTHING with this kit is pain. Posing is pain. Accessories are pain. Mounting to a stand is pAiN. MG Narrative Ver Ka uses a brand new psychoframe runner of Unicorn parts, so maybe this is the last time (yeah, right) Bandai is going to use this mold for MG Unicorn.
Hope so. I know most ppl are not happy with the Narrative but I must admit that I’m very curious about what Katoki will do with this design and how will be the build and overall fun with this model. For me MgEx Uni is almost perfect in terms of build and how everything works there(transformation is really nice). But yeah, OG = problems. Still this variant is really nice as you don’t have transformation on board so kit is sturdy and looks absolutely phenomenal in person.
@@gundamartz well, I don’t know about a Unicorn 2.0, but Narrative will include a new mold Psycoframe runner in active and deactivated colors, and these parts will be compatible with the MG Unicorn for a Psychoframe inactive Destroy Mode look. So Bandai can release a new Unicorn MG without releasing a new Unicorn MG.
@@HidaAtarasi yeah I think they will milk Unicorn for some time so cool if we can get updated one. I'm ok with that and can't wait for Narrative and Sinanju Stein!
Thank you for watching! And about Phenex - leave my wallet alone!😂 But you have right color wise. PG Phenex and Perfectibility is on the list of my “glory kits” but price is killer in my area. But someday….
Thank you very much!✌️ I totally recommend this one. Very nice piece in collection even with this %#%%# vfin😀 And as you said - easy fix with some paint. Will look legit after!
Hah, glad to hear that. I needed to shout it loud, first time was so mad at model kit. Especially that I really love it in general. Hope I will not return to this kind of section soon😂
Hi my friend! I don’t think that this one is available on Pbandai USA right now. You will find it online as some stores may have this one for sale but I’ve double checked and Pbandai doesn’t sell it now. There was a preorder for it in late 2022 with release around Jan 2023.
@@gundamartz maybe it was an HG version or color variant. I've got most of my most desired kits with aftermarket upgrades into my backlog the last few months so don't pay tons of attention to the PB ads I get
I could close my mouth and just paint it and live with that if not the limited edition glory. They already printed new runners and parts, so that is just lazy move. Or there will be PG of this and they planned it like with the regular RX0 release. Sticker itself is like big WTF. Pathetic. In MGEX they at least added design itself to it with gold finish. Still shitty but this here? I mean WTF, plain, looks like vomit and this green “crystal” on it is reason why I would fire anyone brave enough to bring this idea even on paper. Still like I said. Kit itself is great in person and I love it. For Unicorn fans it’s like a real great deal and celebration of this mecha design.
@@gundamartz it for sure is a big disappointment. To not even have a reflective foil sticker which is commonplace even for HGs, is unbelievable honestly. It’s a small thing, sure, but if we start letting every small blemish go unnoticed, imagine how bad kits could be in the future. I do kinda fear for the future of MGs as it is and even if this version isn’t the newest MG, it still sadly indicates there is no longer a pretense of MG being premium at all, even the actual premium kits. I hope the second half of 2024 will turn the trend around. Really hoping for either MG Dijeh or Rick Diaz, ANY variant of the Rick Dijeh and maybe even some Moon Gundam… I can dream. Oh and an MG Zeong 2.0…
@@Herr_Gameractually it’s from 2022, so not old at all…(of course it’s based on old Uni but still) and you got the point. Fortunately new models are really cool and great so let’s hope they will be on track. And about the MG - really hope that they will do something with it in 2024 as I’m little concerned. Now when Udr Hunt is going Anime I hope that we will see some MGs from IBO also or UH itself. There are some really over the top cool designs. I miss Lupus Rex in MG so much. Moon Gundam in 1/100… take my money. Hope they will bring more and more and there will be some announcement soon and we are not watching a death of Master Grade as we used to right now. It would be a really big shame. Verka every year is cool with me totally but at least 3 regular new MGs would be great along with it. I am also VERY wonder when and what we will see in 1/60 scale next as well as MGEX. This two lines are very exciting for me if it comes for announcements.
@@gundamartz The fact that it's based on the older MG is what makes it old, even if it is printed in 2022. A lot of the new techs and gimmicks introduced since then won't be present since it is essentially still a 2007 kit, even if it is reprinted in 2022. What makes matters worse is that they essentially just upscaled a lot of the HG parts, which creates a lot of the problems that you see. Another example of this is the RG 00 QanT, which is just a downscale of the MG version. It creates massive weight problems and some parts being loose. By comparison is the RG Perfect Strike, which redesigned it so that it's lighter and doesn't have the weight problem. Urd Hunt is unfortunately shutting down in January 2024. The next wave is definitely with SEED Freedom. The big changes going on right now is mostly with the HG line as they have begun to phase out polycaps and the RG line focuses more on functional gimmicks. The new Rising Freedom and Immortal Justice will likely be transformable as well. Right now, the problem with the MG is that its defined inner frame is no longer unique to its grade. The HGs as of Rose Gundam and Witch From Mercury are losing their polycaps and blurring the lines. The RGs are developing features unique to them and feature similar frames as well now. Yet, some of these cannot be transferred to the upscaled MG, such as the God Gundam due to the sheer weight of an MG. MGSDs are also bringing a lot of these features down to the smaller size too. MGSD Barbatos looks amazing, but I likely won't be able to get my hands on one for a while. However, the MGs are improving on features present in both HGs and MGs, like with the transformable Zeta Ver Ka from earlier this year. The next one is the Narrative Gundam Ver Ka coming out next year. The problem with this is that in order for this to happen, it requires pushing their engineering further and the result of this is higher cost. If anything, the MG will likely phase out the PGs (in 6 months it'll be the longest we've gone without a PG kit) and we see the MGs being an improvement on the HG/RG lines.
@@gundamartz we can only hope. I just pray whatever we get next isn’t another Freedom or Strike and we certainly have enough RX-78s. Sadly the most logical next PG would be a Freedom in order to have a «safe» choice to prototype the tech needed for large backpacks on PGs, though I’d be absolutely overjoyed with a Nu or ZZ. Regarding MGEX, I really wouldn’t mind simething like a Zaku with a bunch of metal parts or somesuch. They are running out of potential ideas to make the EX line stand out from regular MG

Which version of the MG unicorn is this kit based on? Ver Ka, OVA etc?
It is based entirely on regular Master Grade :)
