I met her in San Fran after seeing her play Miss Gultch/Wicked Witch of the West on stage. She was unbelievably friendly & chatted with a small crowd outside the theater for 45 minutes or so, signing autographs, posing for photo-ops with us fans & purring in our ears! A woman/entertainer who appreciated her fans as much as we adored her. It was an honor to meet her. I will remember that night forever!
Kenneth de Vries Lucky you!!!!! I have seen her perform a few times at a club called Backstreet in Fort Lauderdale back in the 80's and she was puuuurrrfectly wonderful...but unfortunately never got to meet her in person! Damn.
A friend of mine met her in person and showed me a picture of them together. He said he was crying and she asked him why he wascrying and he said because he was standing next to her.
I was blessed and privileged to see Ms. Kitt live, at the Kravis Center in Palm Beach when she was 79. Full House - She walked out on the stage, put that audience right in the palm of her hand from the first second, and took them on the most incredible ride for the next two hours. Amazing. She genuinely loved that group - and they loved her right back. I don't think I've seen the likes of that kind of performance before or since. Thank you, Eartha!
I've been fortunate enough to see her perform live 3 times, the last was when she was just celebrating her 80th birthday, The woman is like an atomic bomb, she'll blow you away!! She held the audience captive every second she was on stage! and she still looks PHENOMENAL!
Pure magic, what a talented and beautiful lady this song always makes me smile. Thank you for posting and am thankful we have youtube to be able to recall gems like this. A class act for sure
Thank you. We used to go to the cafe' Carysle in NYC. She would come out from the kitchen and tear up that fab place. Then we would laugh and have a cocktail. I learned so much about being a better actress and woman from her. Bye dear. JT.
no doubt I agree Theo, a true epitome of a Diva, I ahd the pleasure seeing Dame Eartha Once in person in Clearwater FL many years ago. Her voice and persona will Live on
I think Eartha Kitt loved to entertain and make people laugh...kind of a comedian/singer rolled into one and yes of course all the world loves a clown And.she had a spectacular voice that could really deliver! Age did not bring down her confidence one bit.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i had no idea she passed away yesterday i am so saddened by that she was a true legend and a very great woman and i hope she will finally get the recognition she deserves :)
You seriously need to see "Old Fashion Girl" and "C'est Si Bon." I actually hate this song, this is more like spoken word than actual singing. I think you'd actually like her actual singing

What Wiz are you talking about? That was Mabel King in the Wiz as the witch. Eartha Kitt wasn't even in the movie. However she is a little thing.
This was 1991 or 92 and she was 65 at the time.
