Eartha Kitt felt like a friend. I was so sad when she died. Her music gave me such comfort in the worst of times. She truly appreciated her fans and they knew it. I had the pleasure of seeing her perform about six times in intimate settings between 1997-2005. The last time she waved at me from the stage and even once replied to an email. It's hard to believe that she's no longer here. Thanks for posting.
she met Albert Einstein when he was 75 and she 26. She had donated $10,000 to an orphanage in New York City, and was asked if they could grant her a wish in return, and she said that her greatest wish was to meet Einstein.
The first time i heard Eartha was when i watched The Emperors New Groove! I absolutely loved her voice! Sadly, she had already passd away by the time i researched her. Never the less, i still think she is incredible and i wish she were still alive, i would have loved to see her in person!
…l ove her..she didn’t go gentle into the night…always loved life to the end …may you find comfort wherever you are now…didn’t see you here on paradise earth…hope to see and hear you in paradise where you are…
Such a very moving performance from the grand Diva herself! She's telling us her life's stories, all laid bare....it made me cry. She will always be remembered by us as one of the many super stars up there.
I've even seen Eartha live in Berlin in the lateEighties. She was so incredibly good - I admired her before, but then I fellt in love. Never again have I seen such a good show. She was divine! I miss her so much.
how much i miss you, my beloved eartha..almost 1 year has passed..and your passing away is still as much hurting as last december..rip...in love! ralph from germany
My impression is that she wrote this song for this show. She mentions that she wrote this as a poem and you can see the que cards in the background with the words. The CD credits her for the song.
I met her backstage when she performed in Seattle and it was such a memorable moment. Also ,she was very gracious to the people who wanted to meet her.even though it was already past midnight and still scheduled to perform the next day. And this was such a beautiful song -that pinches your heart and makes you sob. RIP Ms Kitt.
Thanks for the information and also for uploading this video. Never saw this one before and it shows her still great voice and a certain sadness in the performance, the mark of a true artist. TY.
I have this DVD too.Great for all the fans to see this. I loved it !!! Not many performers can ever be just as good like Eartha. I have very fond memories on her...
"The other track that is of note is Alone, which was written by Eartha and Daryl Waters and is our first glimpse of a long rumored stage show about the life of The Most Exciting Woman in the World."
What an incredible human being,I had no idea she had been through such a tough childhood,How she survived and then went on to do what she did is ust beyong amaing
Thank you so much for posting this! I have the CD but cannot find a copy of the DVD that is formatted to work in the U.S. I was privileged to speak with Eartha a number of times, and I was amazed by her warmth and appreciation for her audience. What a poignant song, as this is how she really felt in life -- alone.
hello there, I would absolutely love to watch this entire show you wouldn't happen to have it would you, its absolutely astonishing and I cry everytime
truly wonderful! If theres any chance to post more excerpts from this wonderfully inspiring dvd then it would be smashing to see some more in the new year please?!
Hallo Ralph! Vielen Dank für Deinen Kommentar. Eartha und mich hat eine tiefe und langjährige Freundschaft verbunden und ich vermisse sie jeden Tag, aber ich habe sie im Herzen und immer bei mir. Olaf
Alone Sometimes it seems that life`s unfair The journey leads nowhere Its roads of miles apart I follow the path within my heart All that I wanted more or less Was a key to happiness And now I plainly see The key to happiness is me When times were dark And days were grey And dreams were lost I found my way Through all I`ve seen And all I`ve known I`m still standing here alone I`ve been through clouds and stormy skies And different worlds all filled with lies I`ve travelled through the stings of lovers And wept my tears upon their covers I`ve lived the life of roughen queen And dyed my hair to fit the scene I had my ups I had my downs And sipped champagne with worldly crowns I`ve been as honest as I could And shame the shame of those who should I`ve been loved and I`ve been lied to And found few shoulders I could cry to And all those years I thought life`s naughty She made me beautiful at 40 For life`s not been so bad to take For now I cut life`s golden cake Into a million tiny squares And with each piece recall the years The taste of life is not been so bad Between the tears and joys I`ve had For with some good and a little sin She allways allowed me to get up again And all those years I thought life`s naughty She made me beautiful at 40 When times were dark And days were grey And dreams were lost I found my way Through all I`ve seen And all I`ve known I`m still standing here........ alone..... Alone
Sometimes it seems that life`s unfair
The journey leads nowhere
Its roads of miles apart
I follow the path within my heart
All that I wanted more or less
Was a key to happiness
And now I plainly see
The key to happiness is me
When times were dark
And days were grey
And dreams were lost
I found my way
Through all I`ve seen
And all I`ve known
I`m still standing here alone
I`ve been through clouds and stormy skies
And different worlds all filled with lies
I`ve travelled through the stings of lovers
And wept my tears upon their covers
I`ve lived the life of roughen queen
And dyed my hair to fit the scene
I had my ups I had my downs
And sipped champagne with worldly crowns
I`ve been as honest as I could
And shame the shame of those who should
I`ve been loved and I`ve been lied to
And found few shoulders I could cry to
And all those years I thought life`s naughty
She made me beautiful at 40
For life`s not been so bad to take
For now I cut life`s golden cake
Into a million tiny squares
And with each piece recall the years
The taste of life is not been so bad
Between the tears and joys I`ve had
For with some good and a little sin
She allways allowed me to get up again
And all those years I thought life`s naughty
She made me beautiful at 40
When times were dark
And days were grey
And dreams were lost
I found my way
Through all I`ve seen
And all I`ve known
I`m still standing here........
alone.....

Olaf Wackwitz , thank you so much.
Did Oprah Winfrey interviewed or invited her to her show or even includes her to the lists of her "LEGENDS BALL" 😳❓
There use to be a video from this same performance of her singing "Here's to life" do you have it as well?
I have, it`s in the end of the same show. I can post it.
Olaf Wackwitz POST IT!!! or you can post the whole show anyone is fine with me lol.
I think this was her swansong, 81 and terminally ill and she put on a show like this 🎉💪👏
Is there a version of this song recorded in a studio?
what did eartha mean at the beginning when she mentioned fertilizer and "mailed"..it sounded like mailed but could be wrong. anyone?
"I´ve had enough merde (merde = the French meaning for shit or manure) thrown on me all my life that I`ve used it as fertilizer"
@@olafwackwitz thank you :) RIP Eartha :/
where could I get the lyrics for this beautiful song? If someone know where, just let's me know
I believe she wrote the song for this show and fused pieces of another song with it.

And all those years I've spent on my youth
Thinking knowledge brought the truth
I know life has her games to play
And puzzles of crackling clay
So, graves are dug and wars are lost
But life goes on at any cost
I do think life has made me wiser
So there is no reason to disguise her
Even I tried to rearrange her
She has been fair, I would not change her, hah-hum
She presents me life so simply
In a cup that's almost empty
With a little wine to tease me
But not enough to really please me
And if I drink, and let her take me
She is wise enough to wake me
But only after dreams and visions
Allowing me to see these decisions, ah-hah
All those years I thought life naughty, grrr...
