A point that I have found useful (because I am often Nav-challenged) is to put a beacon on a ship with a Sensor set to detect your Engineer. The Beacon should be OFF when the Engineer is within 50m and ON when outside of that. It saves power when you're nearby and automatically activates when you move away so you don't forget where you parked.
I would like to claim brilliance, but if I were really smart I'd remember where I parked! I often do the same thing for bases...using a sensor to turn the base beacon off when I'm close by and turn it on when I'm away. I did a tutorial (linked below). Despite its age, most of the data is still relevant. ruclips.net/video/xjsW1mBsf9E/видео.html
I like to add a spotlight facing down on atmospheric craft as well as the one facing forward. In darkness or bad weather it is a huge help to detect the ground quickly in flight and tell how far away it is for landing safely.
I met your channel exactly 20 minutes ago, and I confess, I'm loving it, in my language there is not so much content from Space Engineers, my English is not the best, so I'm using Yandex Translate to write this, I can say with how little I understand, your videos are fantastic, continue with your channel, I will definitely continue watching your videos.
Yo Lunar. I just listened to your rant on "Space Engineers solo survival #39" and I have something to add: I thoroughly appreciate your videos, all your hard work and indeed your semi-coherent commentary! You genuinely sound like a cool guy. Now, I never comment or like anything on YT, but if I have to do it, this should be it. I'll try to make a habit of liking your stuff so you know it's appreciated. I don't have time to play SE myself. Your channel is the next best thing. Keep it up, much love!
Seems like everyone is time strapped these days! Much appreciated for the kind words my friend. Don't worry too much, sometimes I just get a bit hot headed !
I always struggle with small grid ships. I start simple enough, but then go way overboard once I have a frame built. I'm mainly based on Pertam, I prefer hydrogen thrusters, and I always try to build a ship that will work in every environment so I don't have to build multiple different ships for each planet/moon/asteroid. I'm also guilty of always trying to build multi-purpose ships, again, so I don't have to have multiple different ships. Heavy armor is another thing I struggle with, I always use too much. Even with mods that give 5x the boost to hydrogen thrusters, I end up with a ship that's too heavy for Pertam. 😂 I'm on my 8th version of a combo scout fighter. Ugh. You should've seen my small grid combo fighter/miner/cargo/interplanetary ship. 😅 That thing was fugly but functional. I need to go back and watch your guides, stop trying to combine everything into one ship, and make prettier ships. 😊
I found a solution to that: Attachments. Imagine you have a rotor with no head on your ship, then at some place in your base, held in place by either tires or mag plates, you have tools with a rotor head stuck at the end. Now all you gotta do is align and hit attach. Just be sure to have detach on a different hotbar or you might end up having a really bad day...
I've been an SE player for more than a year now, but still today I can't get my ships to look as nice as I'd like them to, especially when I'm building warships for my 4 factions world, I'm glad you give these tips as you're surely a great builder, but I'm starting to think it's just not a game I'm capable of being good at, i appreciate to look at your ships tho, they are really interesting
@@creatineforthesoul6495 Well, just enjoy the game and be an engineer. Just remember, the more you build, the more baggy it will get, to the point of slowing down completely.
If you get the chance, since I don't believe you've done a Handbook page on this, what about Cargo Shuttles? Something relatively cheap and able to ferry a decent amount of cargo between planet and space so we're not wasting a ton of ice to bring down and launch a large freighter.

that's.... actually REALLY smart. I love it!
Awesome idea
Holy heck, you're a genious!

Additionally, put a timer that makes the beacon blink. It draws your attention better.

This is my favourite series

I really love how aesthethics your builds are
Thank you!
"Just so you know"
Cracked me up
I just got into space engineers and your videos have been really helpful overall. Thanks, plus earned a sub!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed

Pog, per usual.

Consider the aerodynamic wings mod. On planets, forward movement generates lift and saves you fuel.
Very good editing!
Awesome tips
Wheels and blast doors make amazing bumpers and don't require grids iirc, they're really nice early on.

How about a first drilling rover or atmospheric mining ship?
That method is outdated, Drillsystem is the way to go.
@@LordOfThunderUK Damn dude. I just got space engineers a few days go and i made both of those things because videos told me to. Farkkkk

Cool guides!
I like your Channel!
noice!
Hopefully with the next update there will be some bases on Earth that would be ran by NPCs or just on planets.
I would love if you’d do another live build for some type of cruiser

What mod adds the see through artificial horizon at 4:20? (weed number haha)
Is the green ship from the beggining of the video available on workshop?
that solar pannel at the start can you do a vidoe on it so i can use it please
Not the mini x wing
Please give me a link to the ship 9:38
Do you mind making a workshop of your world ? i will like to start a save without the need to rebuild all this starting world !

Lunar colony Can I use my channel name as inspration yours? You know I thought abaut Space colony, can I?
Yes if I’m early
This is totally useless with current mods. Engineering is all about making it simple and effective to maximize output.
