Fatima was a good friend of mine in culinary school. She was truely a beautiful person inside and out. I'll always miss eating ramen and writing recipes in our dorms.
@Jessica Smith they were in school so they most likely ate instant ramen. Their were times when I was in school I would snack on it right out of the package.
Fatima Ali wasn't just my all-time favorite Top Chef contestant because of her food, she had a joy and a zest for life that made me wish I had the joy of meeting her ❤
Guy did a special tribute GGG episode to Carl Ruiz. Him and the other competing Food Network stars were really emotional during the whole episode. really was well loved and respected by everyone.
@Louise Gross Makes no sense what you say. He's already high on that ladder with several of his own shows that he's had for decades. He has no reason to be insincere. And lots of people who meet him personally vouch for what a nice caring guy he is.
I don’t think the general public realizes justbhow many people all in all have alcoholic or drug addicted issues. In the food world and every world. It’s commonplace. Those who don’t abuse illicit substances, drink, or take medication and abuse that. Or end up on anxiety meds like Xanax. This is all over the place. And high functioning people under a lot of stress, often it’s unnoticed because a lot of people think of a drug addict, or alcoholism as only down on their luck, obviously drunk, passing out in the street, type people. But it isn’t the case The general public themselves are taking drugs and drinking a lot, too, they just view themselves as sober
In THIS same video a healthy eating chef who promoted only healthy eating and wrote books about ultra-healthy eating....died of a HEART ATTACK. JUST LIKE Carl Ruiz. So possibly be careful with your judgements.
Yeah I had no clue until now, I guess food network plays a lot of reruns of GGG cuz I saw him on there a bunch and recently so this was super shocking tbh
Graham Kerr was the "Original Celebrity Chef" for me growing up in 60s-70s New Jersey. I never missed "The Galloping Gourmet". Thanks for this video. Great stories. Sad losses.
I actually remember all of these people from being an avid Food Network watcher. I wonder why Jennifer Patterson's death wasn't mentioned - She died years before Clarissa Dixon Wright in 1999 of lung cancer. I guess that was too long ago for anyone to remember. I watched Two Fat Ladies when it was on PBS years ago.

All of these chefs (except Cristie Codd) died from conditions related to eating their own restaurant food. High salt, High Fat, lots of meat. Leads to diabetes, Cardiovascular, Colon problems, etc. Home prepared vegans are living into their 90s whereas American restaurant eaters are dying in their 60s. The chefs die sooner because they eat that crap every day.
@@terryjackson9395 it also seems that their lives can be stressful. Perhaps more stressful than the average person which may explain why some struggle with addiction because perhaps they are self-medicating from the stress. Haven't looked into that but it came to mind.
Well this was sad. I was personally shocked by Judson Todd’s death as he seemed so young and healthy. He inspired me to eat better. RIP to all the great chefs. 💜
Keith Floyd doesn’t get enough credit. He once got snappy with a camera man in the middle of filming because the guy kept focusing on Keith and not the food. It was always about the food with Keith, unlike many so called TV chefs who make it about them.
This youtube channel of Food Network Starts You Didn't Know Passed Away was an eye opener to appreciate being alive more, all of the deaths featured in this youtube video are tragic however the ones that really shook me and humbled me to continue to appreciate my life regardless of external circumstances was the inclusion of the man who passed away in his 30s even after achieving victory in his career money life and shedding a significant amount of weight and the woman and her husband who met a sudden death at the hands of someone they knew, I am going to watch this youtube video multiple times both because of the fascinating profiles of the people included in this youtube video and to give my soul/spirit a reminder why I must continue to appreciate being alive.

I was saddened to learn about her death years back. I wanted to just sit with her and talk....and maybe ask if she would make me some Bubble and Squeak! :-)
GGG did a Carl themed episode after his passing. They brought in his brother and podcast co-host. Had the judges dress up like him and cook his favorite foods.

If people knew who is cooking their food and what actually goes on in kitchens they wouldn't go out to eat as much.
I think it's a fair assumption that most do. whether they show it or not. hell most people in general do.
Then maybe the food network can do something about this? Just a question....
Oh! So that's why they put up that message. No wonder my well-done steak is overcooked, those junkies at the kitchen burned it!

It's crazy to think that someone can die of a heart attack at 36 that seemed healthy.
He was I'm sure. Sadly it appears his heart worked too hard prior to him losing the weight. I'm guessing that was the reason it malfunctioned. Shame.
