I’ve used this combination twice this year with great results and no damage to my zeon zoysia. My neighbors yard is Bermuda, so I’ve been spraying my boards to prevent further envision. Great product and I’ll try spraying it earlier next year to suppress the Bermuda………great video

I got 95% control of all the common bermuda in my Zeon zoysia lawn using your recommended application of Fusilade and Tricophyr. It transiently stunts the zoysia, only minor yellowing, not bad and recovers quickly. I am very interested in this new herbicide combination and will be following your results! My Zeon is again the best lawn in the neighborhood and everyone who walks in the morning and evening stop and tell me if I'm out working on the yard. Thank you for your lawn care advice.

I don’t know how I missed the notification for your post, but I did.
The update is in a recent video but I’ll recap. I only had a handful of Bermuda plants pop up this year. I applied this combo about a month ago and I can’t find any more Bermuda right now. It smoked the sedge but only dinged the crabgrass. The crabgrass grew right out of it! The crabgrass is at a growth stage now that you probably won’t have good herbicide results. Get you a pre-emergent down in the next month or so.

  • @NCGrassPlugs

My advice is to follow the directions on the label, but if not stated, wait until May or June to apply in FL.
My test plots included Zeon, Compadre and Zenith as well as my side yard that has Meyer zoysia and the front yard of El Toro. All of these showed no sign of damage whatsoever and I applied 2x rate on the test plots. I may repeat that rate again this summer to verify these results as the Zeon has historically been plagued with Common Bermuda popping up. I do not see any in it right now.
It may be worthy to note that I use a biostimulant on a regular basis, either CytoGro or RGS depending on what I have in the garage.
Looking at this front lawn in the video, I am amazed at how much it has filled in. I think we are over 95% filled in.

What do you believe the impact of only using Fusilade or Recognition by themselves would be? (Instead of together)
And would Fusilade by itself do well with removing Bermuda from Zoysia lawn?

Perhaps sometime you could comment on what and when to use as a preventative insecticide (grubs, army worms) and anti fungal, in zoysia lawns. These products are expensive, and there are many varieties on them. I think they recommend an antifungal in October in the Charlotte region for zoysia.

Just ran across this, great info. Thank you. I have planted zoysia here in FL. Had St. Aug but I killed it trying to spray then my wife wouldn’t let me do it again. Now I have my established zoysia, but st aug from neighbor and Bermuda in spots throughout. Above says to spray in June, so it’s too early now? Wasn’t sure being this far south if we should get an earlier jump? Also I heard mention in your test plot of several types, but u sure what was put down at this point. Had to resod 2yr ago another patch, so I could even have 2types. Will that matter or do I need to make sure which type first? That’s how I lost my first lawn, didn’t realize I had Flora-tam and the chemical was unsafe for that particular. Trying to gain control back and not many down here seem to be able to help.

    • @NCGrassPlugs

I believe the idea behind that is to get some Bermuda vegetation exposed so that it can be hit with the herbicide.
To date in my front lawn, I have pulled out two small Bermuda sprigs this year. I am sure I didn’t get it all but it looks like 99.99% of it was killed off. That’s an amazing rate of control.
I plan on shooting a video today and maybe another in two weeks. They may end up being just one video but it’ll be a 1 year update on the plug installation.

Hey, thanks for checking that out for me! I’ve been using MSO with the old Triclopyr formula with reasonable success. Haven’t had any trouble in the heat yet. Are there temp restrictions for using this new formula? In TX, by the time the grass dries out in the morning, it’s about 85-90degrees and quickly climbs to 100plus. I guess if this new product gives a higher kill, I can do it in late spring and early fall when the temps are lower and prob only twice a year. Just put down my 3rd app of the old formula. It knocks the wild Bermuda back but doesn’t seem to kill it. While I’m here, THANKS SO MUCH! for the vids. You saved my lawn!
