hi sir, im not your students but i want to ask. so on analyzing a communication in speech communities, do we analyze it trough the speakers and addresser too? so the meaning in the communication will occurs and understand by both people in speech communication? or we analyze it focus in the speakers?
Good question! In a thorough analysis, we will analyse all aspects that will make the meaning clear. It involves both the speaker and the audience. Focusing on one side will lead to different result. However, you'll gain different, or perhaps unique and clear, findings when you try to focus on one perspective only.
@@englishcornerbanjarmasin i see, so we also have to pay attention with both speakers ( speaker and addresser) also the content they talking about, in order to understand the meaning of the content sir ?
It's a kind of information that the speakers shared before the talk which becomes shared knowledge between the speakers when they have another talk after.
Can we analyse a novel using this model or it will be more convenient for dialogues of a drama or a short time conversation or speech
There's possibility for that, but the result will not as interesting and as valid as a real life conversation.
Thank you for the explanation. It's gonna be much better if your sound volume is louder
Thanks for the synthesis. Do you have a reference of the source(s) used for your presentation?
Mr Hymes.
This is really helpful. Thank you

@@rasyidsidiq7948 Yes. As explained, in Ethnography, we have the SPEAKING. All of them need to be considered in the analysis process.

Thank you, may I ask why ethnologist argue that communication is much more than a speech
Because communication means understanding for both sides. Not merely as message delivering. In addition, it is another way of doing an action.
Also communication involves context and context gives more in-depth meaning to speech.
Thank you so much for this
I didn't understand what is meant by the other pre-existing forms of speech...
