Most people aren't using 3d printers, CNCs, laser cutters, etc. It's just that most of the people you see making stuff on places like RUclips are going to be into that kind of stuff, and if they have enough of a following to be visible, will be able to afford it.
That's exactly the point 1powelrainbow2 is trying to make: A diy is often more effective with common household materials/tools. Cnc/laser cutting/3d printing are not as common as a saw, glue and a hammer.
Spektrik of course there's nothing wrong with these machines, I would love to have them myself, I just can't afford them at the moment. And I don't hate. I quite rarely watch a build-video... and if, it's rather skimming but watching... however, remarkably I just enjoyed watching this video start to finish without even thinking about clicking through for a single moment... outstanding result, outstanding walkthrough!
This guy is an absolute prodigy. The creativity, the skills and how he puts everything together it amazes me every single time! Oh yeah, and so impressive how silent the PC actually is. Crazy!
Cost to make manufacturer is probably $USD 20000 to $30000 to set-up and engineering design tooling and to create the assembly line and assuming a 15% profit margin(Boutique level, think hand-built Lamborghini Venano) your looking at $7500 to $8000 retail. Figure that's about 1% of the gaming market and.0001% of the total PC market (262.5 million units 2017 www.statista.com/statistics/273495/global-shipments-of-personal-computers-since-2006/) total unit demand would be about 26200 units. More calculation and details(Nailing down the set-up and assembly line costs for example as well as production labour costs) would be required for a break-even analysis to determine whether it makes sense to build it as a retail product.
pra izz Because it is relatively challenging. If you remember when linus attempted to make a mechanical keyboard, if you've seen that, he just got a bunch of pre assembled pieces that just lock together no soldering required which jacked up the price and skewed his perception on what you can do and what it would cost
"I want to thank each and every one of you" *doesn't continue to call out a million names * My disappointment is immeasurable and my entire day is ruined.

I used open box pc for years and it was waaay better, lower temps, quiet, easy to clean. Never crashed, no emf. Your project is the best ive seen so far
Okay, this thing is AMAZING! The custom heatsink for the GPU is so nice. I'm a tad bit surprised you didn't use liquid metal for the copper joining, but whatever. :-) The blacktack idea was really smart. It's no wonder the thing is so quiet. I'm surprised you didn't get one of those giant fanless coolers, but again, doesn't really matter. Actually, I don't think it would look as nice as the Noctua heatsinks. The SD card reader is a very useful but under-appreciated adapter that I am very glad you added. :-) This is one of the most expensive builds you have done, so this project I won't be replicating, but it's great to watch you make it. You certainly know how to film things in a way that it's always interesting. Great job man! And congrats on over a million subs. One thing I'd LOVE to see from you is make a Hackintosh, but a very unique one. I'm certain you could do it and make it look better than any mac made. :D
For a DIY PC, he should go with a fairly DIY operating system setup and use something open-source. A Linux system on bare metal running virtualized instances of Apple OS X, Windows 7 and Windows 10? Why, that would be the ultimate setup right there.
I found out recently about unraid Hackintoshes. Apparently they work really well. That would be something. Linux, macOS, and Windows all running at once. I don't think 2 different versions of Windows is necessary, but if one were to run 2 different versions, I'd run XP as the older one, just because. :P
"I was very grateful for this actually as the cable is almost 70lb" Me: wow that is a heavy ass cable. Brain: He's talking about money idiot. Me: Oh, That makes more sense thanks.
well..if he would have included a copper heating plate as an underbase for a mug/glass to heat it, it would have been *awesome* Could be an additional element if the audio interface would be removed and some heatpipes be directed to the underside that would heat it :P
So you really thought that he could have built transistors and boards using wood and rope, which are not very famous for their conductivity, and blaming him for a misguiding title? Don't project your shame on yourself towards him. He's done a magnificent job.
Maybe they thought (as I did) that he was going to build a mechanical computer out of rope and wood. That is definitely possible - as a matter of fact, he wouldn't even need the rope to build some of the easiest differential engines. Regardless, that's not what most people mean with "computer"...

I loved it, a really powerfull PC that shows its power through those massive air cooling grids and fans :)
Man, the silent running on that thing is fenomenal! Congratulations on 1 million subs!
Not the first time he has done it.. So i doubt linus will be interested, since he wasn't last time.
Pesterenan was my first thought also, linus would love to pick this apart. Lol
The only difference would be that Linus would put liquid metal instead of thermal paste because he can. Lol
Linus would drop it, throw it together, have it not work for half of the video, badly bodge the whole build and then advertise Tunnel Bear for 2 minutes.
Tunnel Bea... Ummm... Private Internet Access!
That was the best noise level comparison I’ve ever seen. I knew exactly how loud the system was.
ohhh wait i heard a fan noise.....
fuck it's my pc
NO NAME ARTIST Lol Love it.
You should consider a custom keyboard. That would be sweet
A wooden base with wooden keys!
And a Monitor with wood trim and that concrete volume controller
ShR3D0r S3v7n linustechtips made a video on it
MusicHaven2012 That wooden work
@@James.Stark.Ben.Edition fuck Linus, seriously, who gives a shit?
Turn the golden play button into a PC
Just hot glue a raspberry pi inside
I SAY YES
Congratulations. I watch this 2 years later and you're at 2.54M subscribers. Looks like there's some binge watching to catch up on.
It's so nice to listen to an English accent describing things, especially without saying "without further ado".
the most beautiful PC case 2018, someone give this man a medal!
Already done, thanks YT :-D
Now rope is the most expensive graphics card out there
just why its obviously a scam and next time do it in English so more people can read it because if your watching this video chances are you know how to speak english
ChamChoCraft who are you talking to
Lmfao
you're like the Attenborough version of a youtube DIYer
SO TRUE!! Well said. Thanks
That wat i was thinking
"I built a pc using a rope, wood and a pc", great video tho
LOLOLOL well put. but yes, fantastic video nonetheless.
yeah, definitely a misleading title eventho we know what it really means before clicking it
and still, a beautiful job, takes a great ammount of knowledge and skill to pull something like this off
It looks like an Espresso machine, i love it man!
it feels like i'm watching a bbc documentary
Soooshi you watch documentaries about BBC?

That's a beautiful creation. :-) If you stained it, the Queen might want to buy it for her palace.
him: “such a powerful graphics card”
me watching in 2021: “huh???”
yeah, I had to go back and check the upload date when he said that
The 1080 is still good
still better than my card
You gott a better one then, or just wet dreams from watching to much news?
Get a life irl..
I quite rarely watch a build-video... and if, it's rather skimming but watching...
however, remarkably I just enjoyed watching this video start to finish without even thinking about clicking through for a single moment...
outstanding result, outstanding walkthrough!
This is the most unique PC case I have ever seen!
right...really great work... unique
lol yeah wood and rope around 300°C semiconductors swarm WHY HAS NOONE THOUGHT THJIS BEFORE
This video was what, like a hundred hours work??? Nice job!
AdventureSportFlashlights probably like a full week work, atleast thats how much time I would need
i think i would need a month :o
Dwayne Hawkins I work with wood and metals every day and build myself and my friends a PC so thats why I guess
3r5 What's your job?
rock I dont know the exact name of the job in English but Im building interiors, stairs and doors and working with all types of wood and aluminium
This guy is an absolute prodigy. The creativity, the skills and how he puts everything together it amazes me every single time!
Oh yeah, and so impressive how silent the PC actually is. Crazy!
Turn this into a mass production unit, ill buy 2 XD
Congratulations on 1 million subs bro!
same
Exodarion I want one.
More calculation and details(Nailing down the set-up and assembly line costs for example as well as production labour costs) would be required for a break-even analysis to determine whether it makes sense to build it as a retail product.
this is the real CUSTOM-PC,,
why no us-tech-channel ever build a pc like this
pra izz Because it is relatively challenging. If you remember when linus attempted to make a mechanical keyboard, if you've seen that, he just got a bunch of pre assembled pieces that just lock together no soldering required which jacked up the price and skewed his perception on what you can do and what it would cost
pra izz so true it's because we are so spoiled
Because this requires actual effort, and why do all this when you can just churn out fairly low effort videos and still earn decent money?
"To make it look more like a sculpture, or a work of art"
Yes. But can it dispense me an espresso?
Damn, that's a nice system, and it's beautiful to boot.. What a fantastic project. You're a genius.
Haha, to boot...get it :D
a fancy classic espresso machine that runs windows, and made out of wood.
DIY at it's finest👌
"I want to thank each and every one of you"
*doesn't continue to call out a million names *
My disappointment is immeasurable and my entire day is ruined.
it's refreshing to watch a video by someone who isn't purely a pc enthusiast channel but still knows what they are talking about when it come to their pc parts
Two things are very nice: this build and his voice.
this video also turns into an ASMR vid @ 13:44 too. Which is nice
*VEGAN PC*
Cintex if it was vegan it would have to tell every user it was vegan before they could use it
is your pc case made of bones and leather lol
you need to collab with linus, perhaps be on his next season of scrapyard wars
Juas!
Yes, yes.
Yes, yes.
I used open box pc for years and it was waaay better, lower temps, quiet, easy to clean. Never crashed, no emf. Your project is the best ive seen so far
When I heard him say “the cable is almost 70 pounds” I just though “how could a cable weigh 70 pounds, and the I realized he was talking about money.
American much?
I would have believed 70lbs more. What a ripoff
I did the same thing!
nanodrolone
Over 99% of the world does NOT used weights as units of monetary value. Hope that helps.
British much? *rollseyes*
Nice coffee machine!
i couldn't even hear the pc during the sound demonstration cuz my laptop was trying to blow up or something
"I was very grateful for this actually as the cable is almost 70lb"
Me: wow that is a heavy ass cable.
Brain: He's talking about money idiot.
Me: Oh, That makes more sense thanks.
Last Week Was Funny no worries I did the same thing 😂😂
It looks like a kitchen appliance, haha. It's very unique!
coffee machine.
stop following me around youtube man
Stephen Missah I was thinking the same
I was half expecting George Clooney to walk on and make an expresso.
It's still a beautiful design.
well..if he would have included a copper heating plate as an underbase for a mug/glass to heat it, it would have been *awesome*
Could be an additional element if the audio interface would be removed and some heatpipes be directed to the underside that would heat it :P
The more I see this channel the more I think this guy needs a designer.
I call it "The Coffee Machine" 😂
Minus the coffee.
planetX15 xD you don't get my point, in my opinion it looks like a coffee machine, I know it's not, by kinda reminds me of one

The real "Tech plant" was very amazing to see!
Only true tech people can keep them healthy and strong.
Correction, you built a computer case out of rope and wood.
Qwerasd I also was very disappointed
Clickbate.
Yes, thumbs down for that, even though it DID look cool . . .
I love the enthusiasm of every video, it portrays a highly positive attitude and makes me want to watch more.
10,000 subscribers left! Keep up the good work, would love to see more of your work.
Congratulations! I think this was my favorite of your projects. This computer came out super great! Nicely done!
Yeah, I think mine too, and that's saying something, because he has had some really cool ones!
