If you are interested in improving airflow, see if you can mount two 140 mm fans on the top of the case. Not sure if you have enough clearance within the case but it would improve the amount of air intake you have tremendously. I wouldn't move the front panel fans to the top though as it'd mess with the lighting effect on the front panel.
@@Prim1itve This is a good solution and you're right there is plenty of space up there currently. I will definitely add those if the airflow ever becomes a problem.
For the sound, you can get silent stepper motor drivers which may help. Also, that looks like a *really* beefy motor for what you need. You might be able to get away with using a smaller motor, which may or may not help.
Instead of sanding the acrylic, I'd recommend some frosted etched vinyl. you can probably get some scraps from a sign/vinyl shop for a piece that small. They may even lay it for you. It'd take like 2 minutes.

I just watched this video discovering your channel for the firs time. You litteraly are the definition of the humble passionated man. You keep saying you're not a mechanical engineer yet you designed and built the first ever kinetic pc panel in your living room, alone and with limited budget. An everything fits in the 1 inches space you left. There are tons of engineers who wouldn't be able to achieve this and so many companies with whole teams of designers weren't able to built what you did. It's rare i subscribe after just watching a single video but you deserve it. Good job man.
DIY Perks actually built a "breathing" PC that uses pressure valves to keep it at operating temp. It is much louder than a fan, but very cool concept, and I would hope to someday see a collab between you two! Good video!
Dude you are ridiculous. Not only is the project and your product amazing, but your videos are amazing too! I cannot believe how much time and effort you put in, it is very inspiring
The editing on this video has been seriously underated. The animation, the talking to one self and the transition to different scenes. And o yeah.. Case is cool

The editing and transition between so many different scenes where youre speaking, its like you can actually think and plan in an extra dimension hahaha. Not mention the actual project and substance of the video itself. Youre nuts man this is incredible.
that end result is insane. It makes me happy to see somebody who is effectively an amateur tackle this project and just learning as they go. Makes me feel like I could also attempt to do cool things like this without needing to be an expert. Great vid
This is STUNNING. You should be SO proud, cause that is a lot of incredible work. Your tenacity and diligence is admirable! and it looks SO GOOD. Very fun and informative, and some good comedy in there! Even the editing was just excellent! Highest of fives, pal. Subscribed!
This is such an inspirational Video! I love how you did not just throw a bunch of materials at the problem, but kept refining until it finally worked. This shows how, even with limited money, you can still make a really really cool project :)
I think timing belts would be your best friend if you tried this again. Instead of having little gears that mesh all you big gears together so they move together. you could wrap a single loop of timing belt around an entire row of gears that moves them all simultaneously. It will probably save you a lot of headache (and might run a bit quieter as well).
The end result is unbelievably awesome! Just unreal! Looks like a 3D render 0_o This is the very first video I've ever seen from you. I can't image how much work you've put on all the planning + implementing + processing + montage but it is fire! Wish you all the best! PS: And I totally forgot to mention of the gentle drops of humor you've put here an there. it was bursting and hilarious at times and keep me smiling through the almost whole video. Separate thanks for making my day better!
hey dude. its a massive treat when you post a video, every single one has been so interesting and impressive. the kinetic panels look insanely good, well done! it really is a special effect even greater than the sum of its parts! (and thats alota parts!) i don't want to break your heart, but given they work around a single motor just continuously turning at a constant RPM, you could literally just have plugged a 5V motor into a USB port. no controller, no programming, no nuthin. just finding one with the right RPM or a gearbox/appropriate gearing in your mechanism to make it go the speed you want. but hey, i'm sure you learned alot and saw it through for a phenomenal result, and theoretically you can couple the motor speed and direction to various things now, like game FPS or something.
Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed the video. I am sure there was a better way to do the motor lol. That is good to know if I ever want to expand on this idea or mess with other electronic stuff. The main reason I went this route was to provide a variable speed if I needed to change it between panels but tbh your solution would have probably saved me a month of work if I had known that off the start and planned for it.
@@Ideal_Idea U could also have used a pwm fan and modify it to have gears ect could have been cheaper than gettin a motor too :P plug it to your mother board and this way u would be able to control it using ur motherboard fan software , Armory crate or so on

Im only a minute in and I am still impressed by how high effort your videos all are. Its amazing!
Gotta say, the effort you put in to editing and the transitions are impressive. I've seen big budget movies that failed to merge shots as well as you did.
Gotta say, if you actually meant what you typed you would've commented with something more genuine. I've seen low budget movies that succeeded at feeling more real than what you commented
Super cool! I'd love to see a company mass produce this concept, especially if they keep the ability to add custom DIY or 3rd party panels!
This just might be one of the coolest videos on RUclips. You legit had me freaking out with that last panel montage.
At the beginning I thought it was just another video trying to make something simple look cool and difficult. But sir what you've done with your second design is utterly impressive it is by far one of the best craft videos I've ever watched. Truly a masterpiece, thank you for posting it❤
4:21 caught me off guard (I was looking off screen), very clever. Love your editing and storytelling style! The project is NUTS!
just discovered your channel, you're so resourceful and creative! I loved seeing the process of this. your editing is top notch too ! very inpsiring :D
I absolutely love your editing style of those silky smooth transitions!
man, you always make my day when I see a new video uploaded. Such an underrated youtuber! I've shown so many friends your channel
Thank you for the kind words, I am honored!
Can we just appreciate the skill he used to edit this video? ❤😅
Seriously, this content is like 1 mil subs level. I look forward to seeing your future content. This build is amazing and your style is fun. Now tell your friends to suck it because this already is an amazing setup
One of best editor I've seen
First time watching a video from this channel and I was shocked when I saw how low the sub count is for how high quality the work being done and editing being done is. I'm not even really a "crafty" guy when it comes to pc stuff but this was a fantastic watch. Subbed for sure.
Dude, SICK!!!!! That’s amazing. Your patience and attention to detail is godly. I love this design.
Also, really great video editing. I was engaged the whole time, and it was very entertaining.
Lastly, your accent (speech impediment?), is so authentic. It’s like a real TV nerd. I can tell you’re very knowledgeable, but the accent makes me feel you are real, trustworthy, and even more smart.
As a mechanical engineer (am definitely not), that last design is insane! Well done lad 👌
Good job man.
this is an instant sub, the editing was amazing, the determination was inspiring, and the final product was jaw dropping, i applaud you my good sir
Wow, I loved the build, but can I just say, the editing quality in this is TOP notch and hilarious! Well done!
That hex pattern is insane! Thanks for making this🙂
First video ive seen of yours, youre obviously an OP content creator lol damn.
This is an insanely impressive amount of designing and just plain intricate, detailed work that I would not have the patience for. Super cool.
The end result is unbelievably awesome! Just unreal! Looks like a 3D render 0_o
This is the very first video I've ever seen from you. I can't image how much work you've put on all the planning + implementing + processing + montage but it is fire! MEGARESPECT
You have an instasub from me and I would recommend you to any of my DIY inspired friends.
Thanks for the efforts and inspiration for all the existing and future creators!
Wish you all the best!
PS: And I totally forgot to mention of the gentle drops of humor you've put here an there. it was bursting and hilarious at times and keep me smiling through the almost whole video. Separate thanks for making my day better!
Amazing work! You are a hero 👌
No- you are the hero for above and beyond supporting, I appreciate it a lot!
hey dude. its a massive treat when you post a video, every single one has been so interesting and impressive. the kinetic panels look insanely good, well done! it really is a special effect even greater than the sum of its parts! (and thats alota parts!)
i don't want to break your heart, but given they work around a single motor just continuously turning at a constant RPM, you could literally just have plugged a 5V motor into a USB port. no controller, no programming, no nuthin. just finding one with the right RPM or a gearbox/appropriate gearing in your mechanism to make it go the speed you want.
but hey, i'm sure you learned alot and saw it through for a phenomenal result, and theoretically you can couple the motor speed and direction to various things now, like game FPS or something.
@@Ideal_Idea U could also have used a pwm fan and modify it to have gears ect could have been cheaper than gettin a motor too :P plug it to your mother board and this way u would be able to control it using ur motherboard fan software , Armory crate or so on
This is proof that even through all of the frustration, all of the anger, that W is so worth it. Amazing build my guy. One of the worlds new wonders 💙🍍
This man is legit the modern Leonardo da Vinci. He's talented in almost every art out there!
My trypophobia rn 💀😭
that editing with the whole desk/setup/drawing segment was smooth af
Came for the build, absolutely enthralled by the video editing. The sketch/photo transitions 🧑🍳
