    These boats are made specifically for Sweden's unique coastal environment. There are very few places on earth like it, besides in Norway, Finland and a few other places. These are not optimal for the open sea or very exposed coastlines, but would work rather well on shallow river deltas.

    • @samolofsson2401
      @samolofsson2401 2 месяца назад +18

      You can build on it for more exposed coast lines, but I agree with you it's made to go fast between Islands it's realy good for the northen baltic sea and all the Islands between Stockholm, Gotland, Åland and the finnish archipelago and from Finland to Estland, and From skåne/Göteborg down to Denmark and northern Germany, it's abit to small for open water like Norway to Island or denmark to UK or even worse the Mediterranean Sea down to Africa but I think it would work close to the coast in south east asia alot of small Islands out there too as long as they avoid blue oceans.

      LOL! How do you know there are only few places in earth like Sweden, like you’ve been around all the coastal areas around the world. Aside from that, it’s a coastal shallow water amphibious speed boat, and therefore it should be suitable for many coastal areas around the world

      very few good landing boats in the world let alone once that can work in difficult terrain. ya they aren't really optimal for making land in open areas but basically no boat is. they also don't have the pure fire power of many larger boats almost forcing them into a rush for the coast line. luckily that's their bread and butter. what I'm trying to say is it has flaws but it can be devestating in places like south east asia or america. especially since its so versatile when it comes to where it can operate and deploy/ retrieve troops.

      Not really. This is a troop transport for amphibious infantry.
      The PT boats were made to intercept large vessels and shoot torpedos at them.
      Btw, the Swedish torpedo boats of the ww2 era and especially the later spica-class missile boats run circles around the US PT boats.
      There are a few of them left actually, and they are absolute beasts.

      @@Merecir While true with the ascension of Sweden into NATO we need to start looking outside our own waters and at longer ranged deployments further from a home base. This will create a need for more capable fleet assets then we currently have so a general expansion of the fleet may be needed and perhaps a new class of frigates or even destroyers could be needed.

    I am just supprised how both Norway and Sweden lack major sized boats to protect the outer waters, sweden in the baltics and Norway in the artic, there is of course the coastguard, but they are hardly useable in case of aggression, and only corvettes and a few frigattes and subs, they do not hold both countries as safe as they probably should have been, specially for Norway having the words second longest coastline, its truly lacking on capable boats, even though the ones in use are more than capable, they are too few..

    • @Merecir
      @Merecir Месяц назад

      If Sweden ended up in a war with Russia (outside NATO), the Baltic would be a Swedish lake and the Russian vessels would have to stay in port.
      The number of Swedish submarines is enough for that.

    Swedens defence industry certainly has the ingenuity to make some really good coastal warfare ships and fighter jets. Canadas defence industry has no ingenuity and initiative except overcharging the tax payers for poor quality products. For example the new AOPS ships whose fresh water system contaminated with lead and one of them had an engine room flood during rimpac in Hawaii this summer, and it is only a one year old ship, and a copy of a design of a ship that’s already been in service in Norway for many years. Now the new supply ships being built for the navy are more than a billion dollars over budget, and behind schedule in construction.
