The a pillar trim covers the gap

Yep, the pillar trim flares out to cover the gap, held down by a Phillips head screw.
Also the top of the dash is often (usually?) black, so the black Butyl is not so noticeable.

Yup after you said that I had a head slap moment and pulled out the pillar covers and they cover that area perfectly. this is what happens when you buy a car in a series of laundry baskets... Thanks for watching

Consider painting the metal ahead of the dash Flat Black. I think it will minimize glare spots on the lower glass during the day.. That orange paint is going to reflect the big ball in the sky.

Yeah that would have been the smart play for sure knowing what I know now. It would take me a long time to get that dash pad off at this point. But maybe I could just paint that return that the seal sits on. That would not be too bad of a job. Thanks for your input!

@LakeAndLodgeGarage Think of how many times a piece of paper gets down there and how much its reflection annoys you.

At least the butyl matches the black and copper/orange theme
