I was born in the 50's. If you only listened to the Rock genre then I can see where you might think that the 70's were the "white" era. The 70's were full of music by successful Black artists too. Motown was still churning out hits and the 70's also brough the Funk Music. Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, The Supremes, The Jackson 5, Ray Charles and James Brown just to name a few. The disco years of the later 70's was dominated by the Bee Gees with 5 #1 songs but also by the Queen of Disco, Donna Summer along with groups, Earth Wind and Fire, The Commodores, Sly and the Family Stone, etc.. I honestly can't think of a decade that was dominated by "White" music. Country Music was dominated by White artists with one or two exceptions. Ray Charles and Charlie Pride were two successful Black country artists. Music is music to my ears and all genres have their own genius to offer.

EDIT: I grew up in the 70's and came of age in the 80's, so I guess I fit your demographic. But I don't see a peak in any culture of music; there were landmarks left from as long as music has existed.

Back in my day it seemed like a lot of good bands had a huge following because of their live shows. My family is musical and loved all types of music and I was raised in the South. And look at the artists between Macon and Atlanta in the 70s and the Muscle Shoals sounds 💕 Allman Brothers Band Lynyrd Skynyrd Outlaw country Waylon Jennings Merle Haggard. Otis Redding Ray Charles and Delaney and Bonnie. Love your show
If you look at the members of bands in the 70's you will see that many of them were racially mixed so I am not sure you can call it white music. It was great music for sure.
