- Today we stop by Kings Island in Mason, Ohio, to see how fast they can be sending their trains through to keep that line moving. Now obviously not every dispatch is going to be the exact same every time, but we're going to put the ride ops on the spot and see how well they do!

I honestly think you should've re-done the Vortex segment. I'd argue that the guests wanting off played a major role in the slow dispatch time.

I think that's a bit annoying. If you are strapped in they should just say "Too bad, you came here, you aren't going to hold up the guests, you're riding." I think they would have fun anyway, Vortex is great.

41 seconds for Banshee is literally the actual capacity for Banshee ( I would know, because I'm in the banshee video. lol)

Gatekeeper crew is better. We dispatch as soon as it drops from the lift AKA 35 seconds.
We are required to wait for the lift hill timer which is 20 seconds after disengaging with the lift hill.
40 is your real good number on a good day. Keep in mind, that there is a timer on the lift hill. It requires 20 seconds after the train disengages with the lift hill before another train may be sent. After the 20 second timer, you have to wait and additional 5 seconds as the front gate comes down.
In reality, we can have a train ready for dispatch in 15 seconds. with 6 or 8 people in the station managing the restraints.
Gatekeeper may be slightly different, the dispatch lights usually start slow flashing once you see it fall from the lift in controls, however gatekeeper also has a longer drop time than banshee so yes it may be like 5 seconds after it releases.
To be fair, they had to get 2 people off Vortex

I got a 25 sec dispatch on Mystic Timbers once. It was incredible.
When I went, they asked for a group of 3 to get on. I was with a friend and my brother so we got to skip a bunch of people, they put me right up in front, AND the train left almost immediately once we got in. It was a nice ride! (Back probably would have been better, but I still felt the air time and had a great view)

Everyone is complaining about Vortex, but you have to understand that every ride is different. He could record dispatches hundreds of times and get an average yet it would still constantly be changing. It just so happens that it was a long dispatch, but that means that it is completely possible that you could get that long of a dispatch on Vortex.

If it hadn't been for those two people at 3:22, Vortex would've already left. It doesn't usually take them two minutes to dispatch the train from my observations (KI is my home park).

Usually Vortex has the second best dispatches in the park. You caught it on a really rare occasion.
On Vortex, you can see 4 riders, 2 towards the back and 2 towards the front, sit down, pull down the restraints, and decide to bail and the ride attendants releasing the restraints. That's why the dispatch time was over 2 minutes.

Fun fact: I don't think The Beast can dispatch much faster than about 1:10 because of the way the blocking works. The train ahead of the one ready to dispatch must be off the first lift, and that lift can take awhile depending on when the train in front of that one gets off the second lift.
I was just at Kings Island, and let me tell you, they were BOOKING it with the dispatches. It was great to see ride operators not dillydallying. 😀😀😀
All I know is that the operations are better than my home parks...

Disneyland and universal have amazing operations, but Knott’s and magic mountain are pretty crap.

I went to Knott's and the operations were absolutely horrid yesterday. The only rides really running to their full potential were Silver Bullet, Calico Mine Ride, and Supreme Scream (surprisingly).
Go to Six Flags Magic Mountain WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING?!?!?!?!? IT's great I went there a couple days ago.
From one visit to the park, I have to say that the operations are fantastic. On diamondback, they were ready to dispatch the train in like 10 seconds, but obviously had to wait to dispatch. I never felt like I was waiting very Long at all and it was amazing and really exceeded my expectations.

The Mystic Timbers crew hauls ass. They were pushing out so many trains that GCI actually had them slow down their operations in order to reduce the stress and strain on the coaster
Former Firehawk worker here this ride has the longest cycle time for any roller coaster in the park. That is why the line are always so long it could take between 3-5 min to get a train out on a cycle
I've noticed Cedar Fair parks are awesome at dispatching, and getting you hyped for the ride, before and after. My home park is Kings Island, and I've also been to Cedar Point, Carowinds, Disney World, and Busch Gardens Tampa.
In Raptor's defense Banshee doesn't have bins :P

Kings Island is my home park, and they’re usually pretty good at getting people in and out of rides. My only complaint is Firehawk, due to the way the station is designed and the restraints are a bit hard to get into.

Nicely done. It’s nice to know that King’s Island has good operations and I look forward to seeing them in action in May or June of next year.
I've sat almost all day at work and watched the webcams. Diamondback and Banshee consistently double stack daily. I hardly call that efficient.
After Cedar Fair took over Kings island the lines got alot faster like Cedar Point. I clocked my son on the Racer. He waited in line , rode the ride then, ran back to the exit gate. 8 minutes and 49 seconds

In Vortex’s defense, dispatches there usually take about one minute instead of two. You just happened to catch an infrequent slow dispatch. :)

The vortex took a while longer than usual because that little girl was scared and wanted to get off. Can't really knock em for a rare scenario.

After a storm front passed by, I walked on a Banshee train! Awesome!! But I have to wait 25 minutes in line for Flight Of Fear and Mystic Timbers each.
That vortex time was more the fault of those people who decided to leave last minute

I am going here tomorrow and I have only ever been to kentucky kingdom as its my home park. Its gonna be interesting seeing my reaction being on a giga while my tallest coaster ever ridden is only a 102 foot coaster in T3...

Banshee Crew 2017!! Our sups presses safety and also pressed capacity so we would try and get as many on if the fastest time and would have competitions with Mystic😂😂

F for Vortex boys.
Probably second best operations in the chain compared to all the other bigger parks, Carowinds is amazing with Fury but everything else was slow and only running one train when I went, KD was pretty good but a bit slower, Knotts needs to step up their operations, CW wasn't so good, and CP is almost always consistent with quick operations. The lower attendance parks that I've been to (like Michigan's Adventure) have alright operations but not enough people there to compare
Suprised Mystic Timbers has good operations. The shed is an excuse to stack the trains, which is why I absolutely hate that shed. Good ride, but you can ride Prowler 25 times in the time you can ride Mystic Timbers once, and I personally prefer Prowler as a general ride.
Kings island teaches safety as the first part of training, then a couple of weeks later after the new associates are comfortable they push capacity. The main issue for us is guests who have no idea what they are doing with their belongings for instance on Flight of fear, there is no where to put bags, cups, balls, and hats. Also vortex isn’t always that bad, when they have to upbar you have to re check the entire car (set of 2 rows)
