    The cockpit still looks very modern with its LCD screens and the Sidesticks, it looks like an A320 cockpit with 4 thrust levers, and no real difference compared to an A330neo cockpit from 2024.

      That‘s because it is… the A320/330/340 basically have the same cockpit. As a matter of fact pilots licensed to fly the A330 can also fly the A340…

    Awesome video! I hope to fly an A340 at some point. Is it normal procedure to do a packs off takeoff with no APU bleed? I'm assuming it's so you can use a higher FLEX temp which reduces fuel burn for takeoff.

    • @PapaPadde
      @PapaPadde  Месяц назад +1

      Thank you!
      A packless takeoff is indeed normal procedure for the reason you mentioned. To use the APU as backup for air conditioning is an option but other factors have to be taken into account in that configuration.

    Excellent video captain thank you. I have a question about FRA. sometimes I see that the ATC sends several aircrafts to take off from runway 36 although 25L and 25C are available. Do you have any idea of the basis they use their runways? Thank you

    • @PapaPadde
      @PapaPadde  2 месяца назад +1

      Hello and thanks for your comment!
      Normally, depending on the wind direction, of course, they are using 25C and 18 for departures and 25L mainly for landings, whereas 18 is generally used for all southern and easterly departures and 25C for the rest.

    • @PapaPadde
      @PapaPadde  3 месяца назад +5

      We take into account the weather conditions, traffic situation, personal fitness and more aspect in order to decide, how long to fly manually. Sometimes, it just does not make sense to fly manually over a prolongued period of time, sometimes it is a good time to train your skills.
      On that particular flight, I switched on the auto pilot shortly after the video ends.

    After the the thrust was set to climb thrust i didnt hear the power reduce does the A346 have a double derate feature? Or an airbus equivalent for flex temp?

    • @PapaPadde
      @PapaPadde  3 месяца назад +6

      We are using flex temp on the A346 but I do not remeber the exact values for that day. Sometimes, the difference is quite marginal which could be the reason that you cannot hear the reduction of power so well. Furthermore, we usually climb with a derated thrust (D2).

    • @spencerijeoma2463
      @spencerijeoma2463 3 месяца назад +1

      Ah makes sense does the 346 climb better than the 343 I'm guessing it does lol and which variant is your favorite the a330 343 or 346?

    • @RicciWork
      @RicciWork 3 месяца назад +2

      @@PapaPadde I can hear on video that you used Flex 66 which is a high value, meaning not a lot of takeoff thrust hence why the thrust reduction was not audible. If you used Flex 41 on the other hand there would have been a noticeable difference.
      Additionally, I have come to notice from watching many videos that very high power used on takeoff roll actually makes less sound, on video at least, than using low power. The difference is noticed at thrust reduction.

    • @PapaPadde
      @PapaPadde  3 месяца назад +7

      Yes, the engines of the A346 are more powerful and therefore climb performance is much better. I really like the A346 as it has power and actually feels like a large aircraft. It can be challenging to fly in gusty conditions but apart from that, it is great!
      The A330 feels more direct, sportier, almost like a heavy A321 and is nice to fly as well. The A343 is a bit more sluggish, especially with high weight but still a classic I am thankful to be able to fly! ;-)

    • @spencerijeoma2463
      @spencerijeoma2463 3 месяца назад +1

      Lol the a346 is my favorite as well interesting on the landing in gusty conditions I thought the extra mass would make it more stable I'm guessing the tailstrike risk

      Jedes Flugzeug, dass ein RAAS (Runway Awareness and Advisory System) eingebaut hat, hat diese call-outs. Ich kenne es von den Mustern A330, A340-400 und -600, vermute aber, dass es auf A350 und A380 ebenfalls installiert ist, wie auch in der B747.

      V1 and VR are almost the same at this peticular takeoff (symbolized by 1 for V1 and a circle for VR). The magenta speed bug you might mistake as VR stands for V2, so rotation was right on point - at VR! 😉

    Der 340 ist eigentlich untermotorisiert, der fast baugleiche 2 strahlige A 330 hat eine höhere Take Off Performance.

      @PapaPadde  3 месяца назад +1

      I do not remember the exact numbers but VR was around 155 kts, V2 166 kts, and Vlo was something in between.
      We do not use Vlo as it has no relevance to the T/O calculation, V1, VR and V2 are important, therefore they are being calculated for every takeoff.
      Vref is relevant for the approach but Airbus is using VLS - which basically corresponds to Vref - and VAPP. That day VLS was something around 145 kts.
