    Without doubt the smoothest touchdown I have ever witnessed. I didn't even know at which point the wheels made contact. Wow.

    1:23 The main gear ext/ret wheel tread is the same as the main gear tire. 1:56. Nice touch.

    I wonder why this 747 use Imperial LBS / Feat. Is it because the FMC is then a little bit more delicate/precise on the rounded numbers? e.g. MAX TOW / LDW or FMC Fuel predictions to find the best step climb enroute?

    • @livecockpit
      @livecockpit  Год назад +1

      FMC fuel predictions made during flight to find the best step climb level are dependent on the aircraft's fuel burn and performance. FMCs might have had limitations in terms of processing power and memory. Using Imperial units could require less data storage and processing power, making it more feasible for these older systems. Weight and balance calculations involving rounded numbers like MAX TOW or LDW might be easier to perform in Imperial units, reducing the risk of rounding errors.

    Have you ever landed in BSL? Because a while ago I heard a very loud engine noise over the neighborhood close to the airport here in southern Germany and when I looked on FR24 it showed your 747-481 operating for QTR would be too funny if that was you flying over my house 😁😁

      haha 🙂 Thank you for your comment. They have never scheduled flights there before. I hope they will one day. I will let you know if they schedule any flights there, don't worry. 🤙

    First of all I wanted to congratulate you, Captain, for the beautiful video which also leaves me emotional (being an airplane enthusiast); However, I have a question that I haven't had a clear answer to yet, do all airlines also have a swimming test in their training program? and do the pilots also have to do this test?
    A cordial greeting from Italy 🇮🇹🫡

    • @livecockpit
      @livecockpit  Год назад +2

      First of all, thank you very much for your kind and valuable comment.
      These tests are applied in accordance with the policies of each airline company. However, not all airline companies have a policy requiring such a test. Pilots are not required to pass this test in any way. For example, my friend doesn't know how to swim and hates water, but he has been flying as a pilot for years.
      Even if an airline does not have a formal swimming test, they may still expect their flight attendants to be comfortable in the water. This is because flight attendants may need to assist passengers in the event of an emergency water landing.
      I hope this has answered your questions. 🤙

    çalışma ortamı nasıl oluyor kaptanım? mesela 15 saat sürüyor yolculuk 15 saat boyunca hiç kokpitten ayrılmıyor musunuz? tuvalet, yemek gibi ihtiyaçlarınızı nasıl karşılıyorsunuz?

    • @livecockpit
      @livecockpit  6 месяцев назад +1

      Merhaba, kokpitten ayrılıyoruz ama aynı anda değil. Muhakkak bir ekip üyesi uçağın kontrolünde oluyor. Wc ihtiyacı için, yemek hazırlamak için, arada bir bacaklarımızı ve vücudumuzu esnetmek için vs. çok uzun süreler olmamak kaydıyla kokpitten ayrılıyoruz. Kargo operasyonu yaptığımız için, yemeğimizi, çayımızı kahvemizi vs. kendimiz hazırlıyoruz.
