      Worked out well for the film though, because their height relative to the 6’1” John Rhys-Davies was proportionally correct for hobbits vs. dwarves, meaning scaled-up sets/props and the various tricks used to scale them down relative to human/elf/orc characters worked across the board.

    20 years later, and they’re still so much like their characters. Dom and Billy are jokesters, and obviously besties; Sean is very true to the story and passionate about it, like Sam was about ‘songs and tales’. And Elijah is somewhat quiet, but speaks when he has something profound and meaningful to say (apart from the swearing! 😂).

They do these shows for the fans, sure, but look at them - they have to try to come up with new stories that people may not have heard, as they travel, they have to save some of those for new towns, and so they sound so crooked and contrived a lot, and hope that the fans Qs are something interesting that they could expand on whatever they've already said or have been recorded by others of certain situations etc, they can't continue to repeat themselves if these are all recorded on video and are played back on social media every day, constantly. It's understandable that it's hard, but they are PERFORMERS and ENTERTAINERS, after all, and without new materials for these events it starts to sound hammed and Over the Top FAKE and PUSHY. 0:28 gave me chills, not even exaggerating. Their reactions to the crowd are literally exactly how their Hobbit characters would act. Frodo is just so stoked to be there and is hyping up his support group (the crowd), Merry is very coolly waving like he's the popular one, Pippin just looks excited but doesn't know exactly why, and Samwise is braced and ready for anything.

    • @blueskybelyr
      @blueskybelyr Год назад +13

      I think it's important for Sam to be even partially tempted, because it shows the function of Frodo. Sam's job was to emotionally and physically support Frodo, and Frodo's job was to harbour the ring without succumbing to it. They're very much dependent on each other. If Sam was totally resistant, why couldn't he just take it to the volcano himself? (I would ask myself, lmao)

      @@tevildo45 - I will never agree with what Christopher said about Peter Jackson’s films. If you watch the extra’s of the trilogy, the sheer amount of respect and passion and loyalty to Tolkien is undoubtably pure and real.
      Christopher had no idea about it and brushed it off way to readily bc he worshipped his father’s work and already held in his heart and mind that it could never been done justice.
