Knitting instead of doom scrolling had really helped my mental health, socks are so fiddly and time consuming bht they're saving my sanity. I have the long doctors appointments too as well as the super long wait times and if I forget my knitting it seems to take twice as long! I'm glad to hear you're doing better ❤️
I was in hospital SIX months. I lost 1/2 of 2014! Not only did my hair fall out (think bald) but I had to do therapy to - eat, walk, you name it. You have my total sympathy. For anyone still reading this - GET YOUR FLU SHOT -- wow do I wish I had.
I really appreciate your point about needing to do things we're bad at. A friend of mine wrote a song called "Take It Back," about reclaiming the right we all had as children, to be creative just because we wanted to and not because we were "good enough" at art or dancing or music to satisfy somebody else's standards. It should never be up to anyone else -- including our own inner critics -- to decide that we shouldn't do something creative just because we aren't good at it... yet. We will get better with practice, and honestly even if we don't, why not do what makes you happy whether you're good at it or not? It's not like flying an airplane, where you've got to do it right or people will die. It's just for fun. So why not do what makes you happy, however well or badly it turns out? ❤
I learned how to hand knit when I was a kid and picked it back up when my migraines got bad in 2020. I was too weak to work, but I needed something to do. I'm still pretty disabled and hand knitting keeps me sane. I'm also a process knitter and I love knitting blankets because they take forever. 😊
Thank you for your q&a very useful info. So sorry to hear you weren’t well last year and thank you for continuing your wonderful channel. I’m making your drop shoulder sweater in 4ply scrap sock yarn, I really like the simplicity of the pattern, just need to knit one more sleeve and sew up. Thank you again, take care
Welcome to the Passap club! So excited to see the E6000 in your collection and hoping you get it up and running smoothly quickly! Been using a Duo80 for about a year myself and have been loving it.
i enjoyed this video, but the camera movement i found to be very disorienting and distracting. i tend to listen rather than watch, so it's not a big deal. but i wanted to mention it because i think it's the kind of thing that would have people clicking off a video quickly. also, i'm very glad to see you back on youtube and feeling better
I feel the same way about patterns. I don't hand knit. I can puzzle out the patterns, but they don't tell me much useful anyway, because I often have to work completely differently. For instance, right now I'm trying to figure out how to make a cardigan with a really interesting texture in it. It's hand knit bottom up, but I'm pretty sure I'll do it sideways so I can use short rows. Even machine knitting patterns are too row-by-row. I want to know where we're going and why.
Best pattern I found was one where they basically gave the measurements of the knitted pieces, a guide on calculating your gauge and off you go. Stitch by stitch instructions are a nightmare for me too. I think in pictures not words. It halted my hand knitting progress.
Ooh! I saw the e6000 console and got really excited! I would love to watch over your shoulder as you work through refurbishing it. So great! I have had mine for over four years and know ABsolutely nothing about it. So, I'll be watching with much excitement. Thanks!
at least you didn't loose all your eyebrows and eyelashes! I lost all my hair and i mean all my hair when i was going thru chemo and i looked like an alien without eyebrows or eyelashes lol
hey @KnitFactoryImpl unfortunately the camera tracking you added this video is dizzying. I could only make it a few minutes before having to stop watching. I really look forward to and enjoy your videos, so in future would you consider turning the sensitivity of the tracking way down? I don't even have one of the disabilities normally affected by screen motion, so I imagine I'm not the only one who is struggling with the tracking.
I read the "Does the AYAB setup work with a Raspberry Pi?" as asking if you can use a Raspberry Pi as the computer running the AYAB desktop software, not as the interface board.
I'm sorry to hear you were ill and glad you are doing better. Hand knitting can be a very Zen thing to do!

10:17 I’m definitely not watching this video on my phone while my code is compiling when I could pick up my sock project just a meter further away 🤫

From breakdown comes breakthrough! ❤️

The camera following thing is making me feel nauseous :O
Me too - it was distracting
Yes, I’m prone to motion sickness and it’s definitely very sickness inducing
I'm listening like it's a podcast, the motion thing isn't good for me either.
Me too. I just listened instead of watching. :(

Yea, if you've got a supported OS (windows, mac, linux) installed on the RasPi you can use it as the host for the desktop software. It's just PyQt
@@KnitFactoryImpl Right, the instructions for running on Debian should work there (the default operating system, Raspbian, is a Debian derivative)
