Wanting to attempt this now. Going to try it on a Singer chunky machine. In a mens large size. My brain computes things weirdly, so I get the way you are calculating this, Machine knitting is far more than just, knitting. I love the math of it.
Yes - I appreciate this process (and totally follow/ get it! ) I'm a hand and machine knitter, with a dayjob in IT (Data Analytics, scripting, and general info sys admin). I'm probably belong to a very TINY demographic with those labels 😂 but still! TY for all your vids!
I’m halfway through your sweater pattern. Love it so far……. I really enjoyed this video and I’ve been watching all of your other ones too. Thank you for all that you are doing.
I love that you have the capability to imagine, draw out, define parameters, and then input that data into code so that it outputs a pattern to make your imaginings. I’m not a math person (math is the bane of my existence) but I love data and putting that data to good use is fascinating. Please! Do not stop your explanations. I may not get everything now, but I will eventually.
YES! We do get a lot out of these videos. I am a beginner and seeing a way to think theough drafting a pattern makes the pattern make sense and makes it easier to adapt it eventually. Thanks so much!
Ohje, ich fühle so sehr mit Dir - wie ärgerlich, dass der Ärmel verdreht war! So viel Arbeit!
I love hearing your thought process, even though I'm not very tech savvy, the sketches make it clear to me what you are trying to achieve! About 12 years ago I took a class on understanding Japanese knitting patterns and many of them are very simply written, mostly a diagram with the measurements, and the number of stitches and the placement of increases and decreases and maybe a chart for the colourwork/texture pattern.
Thank you so much for breaking down your thought processes! I’m looking at building some calculators in excel for knitting patterns but I’m very new to this.
This makes me want to try raglan sleeves... they're by far the style I like best on me, but I just can't get my head around how they're done on the machine!
I love your videos and thought process. I really struggle with stitch by stitch traditional style patterns to the point where I just don't do them, they are like being spoonfed a lovely meal while blindfolded, I've no idea what's going on, can't see what's happening and usually make a mess of it. Seeing you work things out as an overall pattern/plan while understanding the basic principles of the general construction of the garment is much more akin to my thought process.
I appreciate the realness of your videos - the accidents, the project fatigure, or simply not feeling like recording x prototype. Seeing snippets of your code featured is really cool too. I know how to create my calculations in excel/sheets but the way you have it coded is 😍
I do not understand most of the patterning part, but I love watching the whole process. I’m not a knitter of any kind, but it is such a great process to watch. Seeing it from beginning to the end project is such a good dopamine hit, & all I did was watch. Looking forward to your next video!
Oh my god, this process has been rattling round my head since I saw people had done the trouville sweater on a knitting machine, thank you for exorcising this ghost, you just do it bottom up!!!!! Thank you for your video and how your brain works, love a bit of mental 3D modelling.
The machine knit community in the UK did a retreat to learn how to knit it. I didn’t go but have always wondered how they did it, love the circus tent feel of the stripes and colourwork www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/trouville
Have you ever tried entrelac knitting on the knitting machine? I would love to see the process of how that would work (if at all) :) Love your videos btw💕
Love your videos! I always learn so much from them! What are your thoughts on cast-on rags to reduce the amount of waste yarn? Personally I love cast-on rags, just curious about what you think :)
This is so clever, I’ve been trying to come up with a knitting machine jumper that looks more raglan style. I only have an LK150 so I do the ribbing by hand at the end, but I really love how quickly I can use up my yarn stash on the knitting machine
Yes this does make sense in what you are saying. As a new machine knitter who cant have double beds, is there wa way to make this so i can knit one half of the shirt at a time?
The four colors of prototype 3 give me a vibe of "Tupperware circa 1980." (Although, yes- Burger King also had that same color palette back then...and a super creepy mascot.)
Ugh I wanted to see if I could buy the pattern for this but the web link takes me to some error page that says "Requested host does not match any Subject Alternative Names". I'm even worse at understanding computers than I am machine knitting! LOL Let me know if the link gets fixed.... Thanks!!!
Hoping someone here can help me... I have a studio 321 mod. I'm replaced the sponge bar, done a ton of maintenance and cleaning. She works. My question is.. in the videos you look effort less moving your carriage across the bed. Should it be?? Mine is like a work out. She moves, knits but it doesn't glide... what am i missing?
Wow. I loved hearing your thoughts on how to make this. I did the same sort of thinking but used graph paper from a commercial pattern. Maybe it’s a programmer mentality - lol - 30 years testing and automation.
Me, barely knowing how to knit or how to use my knitting machine, and knowing almost nothing about coding... still watching this all the way through, very jealous of your skills. Also you look like Brie Larson and Phoebe Bridgers had a sister together!
I saw an interview where she said she took the site down because it wasn’t worth the cost of maintaining the site and preventing data breaches etc. she also mentioned that most of her patterns are on other sites.
I get TONS out of your videos! I just can‘t do it yet 😂 Your videos (and us following your thought processes) are incredibly helpful in a lot of ways. One of which is just learning how to approach problems you want to solve when thinking about translating your dream projects into actionable knitting machine patterns. Also, your pattern resources are golden. I am not there yet, but at this point I at least can follow what your talking about 😂🫣
@@KnitFactoryImpl The for loop in yokeSections is an infinite loop. Upon further examination, it looks like state.gaugeStYoke is also null, so t is getting set to 0, which causes r>t to always be true.
Your videos are so helpful!!!!!! I love seeing the process :)
I love the chunky, wavy lines the waste yarn makes, you choose the contrasting colour so well.
Was just making sketches to see how I'd make this type of sweater only Abit more contemporary . You just solved my problem. Thanks

Really enjoy hearing your process, seeing your mistakes (been there done that) and being able to follow you all the way through. Thank you!

I don't knit, but there is something very calming and centering about your videos.

I love the look of round yolk sweater! Can't wait to try this!!!!
Thank you so much for breaking down your thought processes! I’m looking at building some calculators in excel for knitting patterns but I’m very new to this.
I love your patterns, even though I've only made a handful. I have a basic bond machine so I feel like some stuff is just off limits to me.
Was it Burger King? I swear I can’t unsee it now. And it makes me think of a cheeseburger.
You do beautiful work and explain it all so well.

Awesome thank you 🥰
This is sooo cool! I would have never thought to decrease across a row by using waste yarn and rehanging!

Love this entire process. How do you ensure your fair isle pattern matches at the seams?
I am impressed😮

cheezeburger sweater so good, it's giving Burger King
❤❤❤❤❤ le petit pull avec le centro 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Is it possible for you to do a tutorial for this sweater on the lk-159
Did I see Tension = 10? Did you use a kitchener stitch? Ima going to try for sure.
I'm a 41 in bust that will be the next pattern I try.
Let me know how it goes!

Do you have a video on your workflow for generating patterns from code? (If not, could you make one?)
I tried it once and it felt too much like a coding interview so I decided not to do it again.
Great work, very inspiring, thank you
Can you tell me is the Ayab interface now available (and if so, where), for the KH270?
The 270's hardware is compatible with the interface for the 965.
Thank you. Where can I buy it please?

The final sweater is so beautiful! It makes me feel warm. I watch your channel because your skills boggle my mind.
I made sure to archive Susan's free patterns on Archive, I've posted it in the machine knitting discord.
Yay! Your coding is beyond my Fortran, python and R, but All for brute force T&E.
You had me at 'javascript'

I have a lot of basics to learn first but seeing how to think through the construction is very interesting and helpful.🧶
The pattern isn't working (hangs forever in yokeSections). It looks like state.bicepCircumference is uninitialized
What do you mean by "hangs forever"?
@@KnitFactoryImpl The for loop in yokeSections is an infinite loop. Upon further examination, it looks like state.gaugeStYoke is also null, so t is getting set to 0, which causes r>t to always be true.
What values did you enter for your measurements?
@@KnitFactoryImpl Sorry, I wasn't clear. It hangs when clicking the link for the pattern before it renders any of the input boxes.
That's what I get for not doing any input validation. I pushed a speculative fix, let me know if it works now.
