RUclips is being weird. I used to watch your channel, but I haven't had one of your videos appear in my feed for a year. The last video I saw from your channel was when you knitted the orange top that was part of a dress. I kept seeing videos from the Engineering Knits channel and I would remember your channel and wonder what happened to it, but I couldn't remember what it was called. Today you showed back up in my feed, and come to find out apparently nothing happened to your channel and I have a bunch of your videos to binge watch. This dress is awesome.
Yt normally shows you videos from what you are dayly watching! The top 5 channels (for example)! It's impossible to show you videos from all the channels you have subscribed!!!
The dress is gorgeous! Thank you for showing the different stages in the process, I want to try doing a bit of cut and sew, but I'm a little nervous about running pieces of knitted fabric through my serger/overlocker in case it chews everything up! I think I will have to make some samples first.
Well done! 🙌🏻 exciting to see the entire sewing and knitting process. It’s also a flattering dress. Love your QR code garment. So creative and what clever marketing ❤!
I did a bit of cut and sew with my D.B. knitting machines. I had the benefit of a great book which gave all easements for different size garmets. I love your videos.
I love this so much! The fabric, the struggles, the pattern adjustments, the giddy excitement of a job well done! 🎉🎉🎉 i know you live in a warm climate, but I'd love to see more knit/sew collabs done.
Amazing project! Love these videos and wish I had a machine capable of extra cool patterning like yours. I did try and scan both codes when you showed the knitted piece at the beginning of the video - and they worked 😃
Your happiness when it al worked out. Was so nice to see. Love it❤ cool project. I'm from europe so it is to far away to come. 😅 you make me enthousiast, I start watching you. When i was searching for knitting warm socks. I've big veet and warm socks are not for sale in the right fabric and size. These knitting machines are expensive here in the Netherlands. I'm still searching and when I find one I will knit some sweaters.
the knitter and Geek in me loves this! My Husband is a programmer geek as well. I would love a machine like that but I get frustrated to easy. lol My husband is currently 3d printing me a sock knitting machine. its almost done! I am very excited. Also when you cut the fabric I cringed so bad! LOL so glad you had a serger to keep it from unraveling lol
You mean there are people who DON'T iron their pattern pieces? Clutching my pearls! This dress is amazing! You almost have me convinced to try flatbed knitting!
Cute dress. Good Project. Two things. Maybe try thinner yarns for double bed knitting so it won't be a bath mat weight when finished. Second, I see you have a Passap linker to use with your Brother knitting machine. This linker is meant to be used with the Passap knitting machines that have a needle spacing of 5mm. This means when you are placing your knit stitches from a 4.5mm brother standard gauge knitting machine, you need to stretch the stitch loops a bit to get to the next stitch pin on the linker. Even with the Studio and Hague linkers you need to make sure you are getting the correct gauge linker model for your knitting machine. You can fudge the process in a pinch but it works so much better and smoother if the linker machine gauge matches the knitting machine needle spacing or aka gauge. This is especially true when knitting with a bulky machine that doubles the needle spacing from the standard gauge. Viewers and new machine knitters need to be aware of these small differences before making uninformed purchases. Machine knitting can be an expensive learning curve and investment.
The best fabric marker pens I have ever used are crayola washable markers. I've ironed the fabric with the marks in place and it washed out with no issues. However, only use these markers if you know your fabric can go in the washing machine.
Both informative and joy-inducing. It turned out so good. Hopefully at some point in my life I'll convert a William Morris pattern into a 2-4 color knitting pattern and make a glorious coat on my machine. Also, I lol'd at the Karen Puzzles timer and the spider (I assume) crawling across the floor at 19:55 ish and then changing it's mind less than 20 seconds later.
The dress looks amazing! You did a really good job. I hope you have a lot of success in the event. Thanks for sharing, your content is very inspirational 😃
This is just super cool. I have that exact linker!!!! I don't know how to use it!!! Actually, I have a Passap E6000 that I got for free from a person on Craigslist about four/five years ago now? Haven't done a thing with either. (got the linker from her as well) Maybe you might think about doing online classes, or a Patreon site and teach about machine knitting and the ancillary accoutrement? I'd join, and I don't sign up for things like that very often. ALSO!!! You sew!!! Very, very cool. Sewing is my main thing. Then handknitting. I am interested in machine knitting to be able to turn out pieces of fine gauge fabric, because they're too hard to knit by hand, I find. I don't know if the E-6000 does that, and when I began studying about how the machine works (on their RUclips videos) I got discouraged and gave up. I also have one of the Bond machines, I thought that it would be a pretty good place to just begin getting familiar with how knitting machines work, but haven't really done anything with either. Anyway, your work and expertise is phenomenal. And it was really fun hearing that your Mom helped out. Clearly, she knows about sewing. Grandma too. A nice legacy.
This looks perfect! I have a 24 stitches punchcard machine so QR codes are out of question but I might do one (pointing towards my professional website) on my embroidery machine just to see whether people would even try to scan it! 😅
BTW the 4.5mm gauge of the Brother knitting machine along with the two color knitting per one row of knitted fabric makes this QR code dress possible, because of the lack of image distortion with this color change knitting system. This is not the case for some other machine models. 🤩 Just additional hints and information for those following your inspirations. Yarn size, and stitch size can also affect the row gauge and squaring the QR image results. Good first time QR code results.. The dbj style of knitting also stabilized the image from knit distortion. 🤩
It looks great! Thank you for working on AYAB. I haven't been able to use it with my 965i and switched back to img2Track on my old Intel Mac. Will the new version work on the newer M Series Macs?
I have Brother punchcard knitting machine (non-electronic) and the KR 850 ribber. In the ribber manual it has instruction on how to do double bed jacquard but I do not have a double bed color changer. My question is this: can double bed jacquard be done anyway without the color changer and I manually change the colors?

This is inspiring me to finally sew with the handwoven panels I made years ago and was too scared to cut.
You can do it!
That dress is absolutely amazing! Thank you for your contribution to this craft.
Flabbergasted is the right word, I think. Wow. I'm deeply impressed.

I saw you walking around in this, you slayed this so hard!!! You looked incredible!!
Well done! 🙌🏻 exciting to see the entire sewing and knitting process. It’s also a flattering dress. Love your QR code garment. So creative and what clever marketing ❤!
My choice is to RickRoll people with the QR code, but i like that you linked your channel!
That is what the third QR code was going to be but there wasn't enough space!
My immediate thought as well. Why have a qr code outfit if not to Rick roll?

laughing at the crawling under your machine to see where you are, definitely have done that myself lol
Brilliant job! I love cut and sew, plus linker, as you get a great finish.
Amazing project! Love these videos and wish I had a machine capable of extra cool patterning like yours. I did try and scan both codes when you showed the knitted piece at the beginning of the video - and they worked 😃
That dress is just the coolest thing I have seen in a long time
The coolest dress I've seen for a long time!
Awesome! So inspiring - I hope you have a great and successful time at your event!
This is seriously so cool! I wish I had a machine that this could work with, but so far I just have a portable Knit King. Always on the lookout!
This is so awesome! It's also awesome that AYAB will be at OpenSauce!!

And it was, indeed, so cool when it was done!!
You are absolutely amazing. Very impressive. Thank you for the work you are doing. Xx
I saw this dress at open sauce! Great work! 🎉
This is extremely cool! I need to get myself a knitting machine some day

Knitting doesn't really unravel when cut as long as the strands aren't pulled on too much or picked at.
You mean there are people who DON'T iron their pattern pieces? Clutching my pearls!
This dress is amazing! You almost have me convinced to try flatbed knitting!
Fun thing, a QR code was the second thing we ever knitted on the AYAB prototype back in 2013 ❤ Have fun at opensauce!
It's not a DBJ project without a few F-Bombs.
Woooow! I had no idea that a machine like this exists!!!
Beautiful!!, ❤🌹👍

I love it! You make it look so easy. I haven’t even tried double bed jacquard yet.
Wow, what an amazing dress! Also love the Celtic knot like hair band you had in your hair!
Looks amazing and so cool. Congratulations!!
Knitting and sewing yay - great video and the fabric and dress look stunning, well done 👏 thank you for sharing
I love it! It shows how important it is to plan everything, and it turned out perfect and fun, even the shape!
Wow! The dress is fabulous!
Wow! Loved every minute of this video
That is so incredibly cool! Amazing job in the dress 👏👏👏
Cool dress and post. 👍🧶👍🧶👍

The dress looks amazing!! The finish is impeccable and it's such an amazing demo of both your craft and what AYAB can do. Stunning!!
What a genius design 💖😊
Amazing! And you look stunning in it!
This is absolutely incredible!
i’m saving up for my first knitting machine and i love your content ❤ this is sooooooo cool

I scanned your dress and it brought me to AYAB! Cool.
Crayola washable markers are amazing
It came out beautifully. Great job. Thank you so much for sharing. 😊
A very successful project! Congratulations!
That fact that there is more than one lady making yarn QR code clothing, wild
Who else is making QR code clothing?
Quite impressive!🎉
Your projects are so cool!
I am imaging wearing this to a game dev conference with a link to my portfolio haha. That’s one way to get employers attention
Fantastic work!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
You make me soooo happy!
Fantastisch 😍 , en dank je voor de goede uitleg, de jurk ziet er zooooo leuk uit. ❤❤

Are a speed puzzler!? Love those competitions.
I am not but I enjoy the videos.
Wow wow wow
Fyi the blade your mom helped you with is tungsten carbide and will last 2 to 4 bottom blades
imo sewing patterns do have their own vanity sizing
So cool! First. :)
Love it!
