I don't think it was Cavil who refused to shave, I think it was Paramount that wouldn't let him shave it.
He was contractually obligated to not shave.

They asked for a million or 2, and they'd let him shave so he could do the movie as superman without it, and they would have cg'ed it here
Warner refused to pay so they didn't have it shaved
It's about the production repercussions of shaving the mustache. Would they wait til he grew it out which halts the production? just wear a fake mustache, or a CGI mustache? All of those options are does not bide for the quality of M.I. esp with Tom Cruise who's an advocate for genuine filmmaking.

Warner brothers actually did some cgi moustache shots over existing clean-shaven Cavill footage to show that it would look good and they offered to pay for it if Paramount would let Cavill shave. paramount didn’t like the way it looked, but the director Chris McQuarrie offered to just take 3 million payment from WB, shut the MI production down for a few months for Cavill to shave, do his JL reshoots and then regrow his moustache. Paramount stepped in and told McQuarrie hell no we aren’t shutting down and the rest is history.
As Christopher says, it wasn't that Cavill refused to shave it. It's that Warner Bros. decided to reshoot a significant chunk of Justice League after Cavill was already working on Fallout, and since WB was imposing upon Paramount, Paramount released him with the stipulation that he wouldn't shave, so that Fallout wouldn't be affected by WB's changes.
Another fun little note is the implication that The White Widow is somehow connected to -- perhaps the daughter of -- Max, the arms dealer from the original Mission: Impossible movie, as she seems to be eulogizing Max when Ethan enters the back room at the club.
To be fair, I wouldn’t blame him if he did refuse to shave it. The man does look good in a mustache.

And also that random guy in the toilet essentially kicked the asses both of the films main Hero and Villain at the same time. Now that's unique lol.

Someone already mentioned it but TheNormies missed that Ethan was the one who put the WhiteWidow's mother in jail. Max from the first movie.
Yes and her henchman from the first movie was in ghost protocol, gave him the same type of mask and took him to the Russian arms dealer. I’m pretty sure they recognize each other and make a comment about the mask kind of like “just like old times”
EDIT: I just rewatched the scene. They don’t say anything to each other, but when Ethan sees who he has to deal with he’s a bit apprehensive as if he’s not sure this guy will help him after MI1. Then the guy pulls out the balaclava and smirks at him as if to say “you remember how this works, right?” Ethan sighs and puts it on.

The bathroom scene is a classic in action cinema
This is dumb that they made Ethan so weak in that fight... He is supposed to be a trained IMF agent but he gets destroyed by a random asian dude... They both get destroyed... The girl killing him is the most anticlimactic ending for this scene...

@@GameDjeenie Both Ethan & Walker are well trained, they just ran into a superior fighter. Cruise likely wanted to go the Jackie Chan route (vulnerable hero) rather than the Bruce Lee route (invincible hero). But yes, that gunshot at the end ruins the fight.

I think they missed the reference to the first Mission Impossible: Vanessa Kirby plays the daughter of the late Max, the arms dealer, using the same iconic lines as her mother.
Angela Bassett's character is a retread of her CIA Director Hayden Chase role from S4 & S5 of Alias. The plane jump sequence is reminiscent of Alias' S4 finale.
He didn't refuse to shave, he was contractually prohibited from shaving until Mission Impossible wrapped.
Ethan is so badass he problably kept track of the countdown on his mind since he started climbing to the helicopter

In IMAX, it was a must see and no way you saw it first in another format.
Henry Cavill as August Walker (wow).
Vanessa Kirby as The White Widow and daughter of a character from M-I:1 (cool).
Baldwin & Bassett as the bosses (hell yeah).
Few months later.
Early 2019 in fact; Cruise, Paramount and Skydance annouced back to back sequels.
One for 2021 and one for 2022.
Of course, everything was pushed back to now and all worth waiting for.
Glad you enjoyed you all the missions so far.
M-I:7, Dead Reckoning part 1 was incredible too.

So man crazy stunts, the fights are awesome and the ending is so exciting.
Henry didn’t “refuse” to shave his mustache for Justice League reshoots. Mission Impossible was still filming their reshoots and he was under contract to NOT shave it.
Definitely my favourite MI movie. Has such a Christopher Nolan feel to it too. Hope Dead Reckoning part 1 and 2 can at least be just as good.

Trivia: Tom Cruise actually broke his leg while jumping in this movie yet continued to finish the shot. That shot was used in movie to show his dedication. Where he see him limping after building jump, believe that it is very real. The man was walking with briken leg at that point. He is real life superhero
Tom Cruise runs on screen for ten straight minutes which means high-level action enjoyment as always
One more fun fact- Rebecca Ferguson was like 7 months pregnant near the end of this shoot. Props to her and her sound double.
Ferguson also farted on Lane during the final fight scene where she was on top and choking him.

No, he didn’t refuse to shave. The studio refused WB requests for Cavil to shave due to the reshoots. WB even offered to pay for the mustache-cgi they would have had to use. Paramount said no
9:09 as others have pointed out, Paramount refused to let Cavill shave for the Justice League reshoots, leading to the rushed, horrible "Mustache-gate" fiasco.
Also, that is 100% Tom Cruise skydiving later on. Henry begged to do it with him but he didn't have enough skydiving experience so they couldn't risk it. So it's the real Tom doing aerial action with stuntmen.
Disappointed that we didn't get a reaction for Henry Cavill's cocking his arms.
That AND when the countdown hit zero and we all thought for a split second that the nuke actually went off… i guess they saved that for Patreon.
In regards of the future film, I feel like now, as the franchise gets close to a penultimate climax, Ethan's conflicts with morality and sacrifice would grow ever bigger than before. He may lose either his entire team he known and loved and worked with, those close to him (Julia), or 8 billion people, or his own life, and that would ruin his sense of sanity forever...
Cavill's biceps reload was awesome 😂 It can live rent free in my head, I don't care.

So glad you four have gone through this series together. Wonderful couch cast/family, wonderful reactions, wonderful film series. Glad Cruise, the directors, the stunt teams and all involved are gathering more and more credit. Upon rewatching all the films again, I'd say my personal order goes:
1. Rogue Nation and M:I-3 (tied)
2. Fallout
3. Ghost Protocol
4. M:I
5. M:I-2
In June 2023, Christopher McQuarrie stated that Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One and Part Two would not end the series, as there are developments for future installments.
In July 2023, during promotion for Part One, Cruise expressed interest in continuing to make further films in the series as Ethan Hunt, despite both films having previously been billed as a send-off to the character.
Inspired by Harrison Ford's continued success in the Indiana Jones films, Cruise stated that he would like to keep making Mission: Impossible films until he is likewise in his eighties.
I am so excited for y’all to watch this one! It’s my favorite Mission Impossible movie, Henry Cavill is AWESOME in this!
Also, Cavill didn’t refuse to shave the mustache. Paramount told him not to because he was technically on their time when WB wanted to reshoot JL. WB even said they would pay to digitally help them add it back on for this movie, but Paramount refused.
Am from Norway and that guy at the start of the film is Kristoffer Joner. And I did go to school with him in Norway. And Yes many of the scenes are made in Norway

No contest. Not only is it the best Mission Impossible movie of all time, but quite possibly one of the greatest action movies of all time.
I put it at 4th place of the 6 I have seen. Good movie, but not the best imo.

Rebecca Ferguson is by far the sexiest woman in Hollywood right now from these movies alone.
Dead Reckoning is really great and has such cool stunts but I don't think it was as good as Rogue Nation or Fallout. But it's still great. How much they promoted the bike jump kind of ruined the whole scene, we shouldn't have seen it at all until seeing the movie. Would have been hype af.
3 and 5/6 have best villains. 3 - 6 are all top tier though.

I don't know if I'd say this is my favorite Mission Impossible movie, but the action sequences are definitely the best of of the franchise. Walker's death is straight out of old school Bond villain deaths! So entertaining from start to finish!

The Helicopter stunt was absolutely insane. Loved everything about this movie. That bathroom fight scene 🔥
MI3 is still my favorite. PSH played an incredible villain. RIP to a great actor.

To me the helicopter stunt still not as insane as the plane stunt in rogue nation or him biking off a mountain in the most recent one
They rehearsed the Halo jump for a year, on the biggest wind turbine ever built.
I still consider Fallout as one of my favourite Mission Impossible movies in 2018, but not because of the plot, but because we got a stack of all star cast like Tom Cruise, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Henry Cavill, Rebecca Ferguson, Angela Bassett, Vanessa Kirby, and Alec Baldwin.
Can we get a full couch reaction to Tom cruise's the last samurai. It will do great numbers. Seen big numbers of other youtubers with that movie ❤

It's was widely reported that Paramount is responsible for keeping the mustache, guys. Not Cavill. Such a petty move on their part.
I couldn’t keep my eyes off Rana the whole time
So, Paramount wouldn't let Cavil shave. The lawyers wouldn't let Cavil do the HALO jump either which is why his mask is all fogged up the while time. Cruise absolutely did the real HALO jump. About 250 times to capture all the shots they needed. They did it over Dubai and then added the clouds and Paris after. Had to invent a new helmet camera for the cameraman.
Cruise also did all of the driving and motorcycle stuff... legit traffic no helmet. Including the crash, real.
The helicopter climb... 100% real. Including the fall. He was safety harnassed but the fall was very real. He also spent 6 months and learned to solo fly the helicopter so they could have him alone in there legitimately doing the death spiral stunt.

Henry Cavill is the most qualified actor to play Bond . He already played a British secret agent in Mission Impossible and Man from Uncle. All that experience has to mean something .
That he's already been there, done that? Most actors don't particularly like to do what they've already done. They prefer a new challenge. Some even get annoyed when offered parts that are similar to roles they've already played.
