    Love your material fellas, keep it up.
    My road block unit of choice is the outriders. 80 pts, Auto advance, and in Firestorm, they get assault. More wounds and higher toughness than a JP assault squad means they are a little more resilient. Only downside is they can't move through terrain. Larger bases are good for roadblocks, but are harder to hide when needed.

    Having played several games of PN with Custodes, GK, and SM (all relatively elite armies), I find myself absolutely taking some more action monkeys to do that random Sabotage, cleanse, etc. One thing to note is that there are a few secondaries that require the unit to live through your opponents turn. As such units with deep strike/high move characteristic and lone op are at a premium:
    For example here are some that definitely are considered for my Custodes/GK:
    Callidus Assassin, Eversor, voidsmen at arms, Witchseekers, 2man Allarus, GK interceptors
    For SM there are quite a few options. Top of mind for me are:
    JP intercessors, Scouts (still cheap), Combi Weapon Lt, inceptors, Suppressor Squad (for DS), and infiltrators (not cheap but the DS denial to push back your opponents reserves from scoring is crucial)
    Honorable mentions in SM:
    1. Solo Phobos Lt is a 55pt DS piece that is hard to screen out (good if you don't bring a lot of other characters)
    2. Solo Bike Chaplain is 75pts relatively durable and is very fast
    In Leviathan I probably spent 150-200pts on backfield objective holding and action units. In pariah I'm a bit closer to 300pts

    Nice video. As a Ravenguard player, I think there's some potential for stapple units to perform well in this edition. As you mentionned, some units and Strats from Vanguard will be quite good to move around cheap action monkeys around. I'm thinking about that Reiver thing, with or without Phobos Lt I,m not yet sure. Since you can lift two Phobos unit with Guerrilla Tactics, you can always reposition another unit alongside the Reivers, target a unit with Phobos Captain to do it for free, or an Infiltrator unit for a chance to regain a CP... These are not game breaking combos, but they're interesting to thinker on...

      You absolutely can! HOWEVER! You have to be mindful of where your models are being put and what goes where.
      Even if you are scoring strong on primary, you will need to score some secondaries, and there are a reasonable percentage of secondaries that you can score by sitting on like... two objectives (your deployment zone and one outside).
      Always be checking what secondaries have also been already pulled and do the math on what can still be pulled. Set yourself up for success!

    Hey Guys! Thanks for this topic! I am struggling with this exact issue right now. I have an RTT coming up a week from tomorrow, and I am concerned my list doesn't have enough cheap units to throw at actions.
    Hyperphase Necrons, 20 man warrior blob with Imotekh and a plasmancer with reroll enhancement, 10 man immortals with a plasmancer, 6 man Lokhust Destroyer with a Lord and the deep strike enhancement, 6 man Skorpekh destroyers with a Lord and the auto advance 6 enhancement, a ctan shard of the nightbringer, a monolith, a 2 man heavy Lokhust Destroyers unit, and a 5 man death mark unit.
    After listening to this video, I don't think this list has enough expendable units to just sit and score. It's really just the immortals, death marks, and heavy destroyers, and one of those three is going to have to sit at the home objective as well.
    I am considering breaking the 6 man skorpekhs into two 3 man units and drop the Lord, as well as split the 10 man immortals into 2 5 man immortals and drop the second plasmancer, then add something else in for those points from the dropped characters.
    Thanks again for this topic because it is spot on for my current issue! Penny for your thoughts on the list change?

    • @Killomainia
      @Killomainia 6 месяцев назад

      You have the right idea with the skorephks, but I would say drop one 3 man and keep a unit of 3 with the Lord. Except they will be acting as a rapid ingress shock troop. I run this unit all the time in my Awakened List and they always pick up whatever unit they run at whether be infantry or vehicles. The Lord gives a mortal wound bomb, adds that little more value for punching up due to giving lethals to the unit, and since you can reroll hits on the charge thanks to the skorephks ability you can try fishing for those 6's, plus adding devs if get lucky on the wounds.
      This should give you 90 points (105 if you don't take auto 6" enhancment) to maybe chuck in a hexmark which then you could give the dimesional overseer enhancment to for more hyphasing options for units. Plus the deep strike/lone op functionality of this unit is godly for scoring since you can pick him up and down almost anywhere with the 3" drop.
      This way you have split a very killy but hard to hide elite unit into a ambush killing unit and one great scoring unit with some good utility

    • @hyperspacehobbies
      @hyperspacehobbies  6 месяцев назад

      I think tomb blades are insane right now too, there movement is just unreal. I feel if its not going to get a ton of stratagem support or a character, MSU is a safe bet. Good luck at the RTT!!

    • @jasonneuhaus6348
      @jasonneuhaus6348 6 месяцев назад +1

      So I dropped the second plasmancer, and I dropped the auto advance 6 enhancement. Kept the Skorpekh Lord, added a third heavy destroyer and a royal warden. I split it up as the 20 man warrior blob with Imotekh and plasmancer, the 6 man Lokhust with Lord, the nightbringer, and the monolith all being 4 massive threat units. I then went with two 3 man Skorpekhs, one with the Lord, two 5 man immortals, one with a royal warden, three single heavy destroyers, and the 5 man death mark unit. Ended up at exactly 2000 points rather than 1990.
      That gives me 8 small units to spread out and score with. Each heavy destroyer unit is still a big Damage 6 threat, and the Skorpekh Lord unit is still a threat to brawl against other smaller units. Then I still have my big 4 scary units, and considering my original list had 8 units total, I think this is an improvement for scoring (at least on paper). I have a test game tomorrow against a dark angels list with the improved inner circle task force detachment. Thanks for the help! I'll report back with the score!

    • @jasonneuhaus6348
      @jasonneuhaus6348 6 месяцев назад +1

      The game went very well. It felt like my opponent was on a roll T1 and T2, but at the start of T3, I looked at the score, and how many units I still had spread around the board and went, "oh I see." I managed to take serious board position and was racking up the score board while slowly chipping down his biggest threats. I basically was able to push both short edge flanks and corral him into the center of the board.
      Neither of us have a pariah nexus mission deck, so it was still a leviathan game. Deploy Servo Skulls on sweeping engagement with mine fields and secret Intel. Both players taking tactical secondaries. The final score was a resounding necron victory 94 to 56 (with 10 points for paint)!

      @spacemarinesteve6057 6 месяцев назад

      I still feel like 1 Squad of Infiltrators is a great asset. Other armies still use deep strikers all the time, and the 12" bubble can protect you from so much!

    • @justinc246
      @justinc246 6 месяцев назад

      Another thing to consider is if you run into an opponent who relies on deep strike or reserves to get their action/utility units out to where they need to go, a squad of infiltrators forward deployed in ruins will stop that and deny your opponents scoring

    Is there a set ratio of action to damage units you try to go for when making a list?

    • @justinc246
      @justinc246 6 месяцев назад +1

      It's generally dependent on the army. If your army generally depends on big expensive units to do what it needs to do, I'm thinking just a few small action monkeys. If you play a more board control list, take more

    • @hyperspacehobbies
      @hyperspacehobbies  6 месяцев назад

      @@justinc246 Totally. having just a few can get you VP. Each army has something that does these kinds of things like Stormboyz, Tomb blades, Von Ryans Leapers.

    As a Custodes player, my choices are obviously limited, but I think there are good ones. I'm going to try ditching the 2 Caladius tanks I always run in favor of more:
    - Venatari (fast and free rapid insertion)
    - Allarus (upy downy)
    - Sisters of Silence (cheap and for actions/objectives)

    Funny, Dude just won a World Singles Tournament with 5 X 20 man w/ Character Attached Black Templar Primaris Crusader Squads. Slow Sloggy and Tuff AF. Of course, he is a world class player but this is the exception to the rule of MSU. His list is crazy he also had 2x 5 man scouts that just kinda sat around watching the last battle.

    Looks like outriders aren't that bad after all. 80 points, T5, 4 wounds each, 12" movement. And if you get to do an action after an advance, 18" automatic movment.

      Most of the time, you won't get to action after you advance. BUT they can advance t1 to an opportune spot and then be set for the next turn. They are also tough enough to withstand a little pressure

    So if my army is elite and has no expendable units , and the only faster moving unit is a land raider , l should not play this seson? l can't afford to buy FW units, and those are , besides horrible jetbikes, are the only faster moving thing. Even our dreadnoughts moce at 6" speed for domem reason

    • @hyperspacehobbies
      @hyperspacehobbies  6 месяцев назад

      I assume your talking Custodes? They have an interesting road ahead of them, they are a mega elite army and might want to focus more on preventing your opponent from scoring secondaries, using board control and roadblocking with unkillable golden boys, to prevent you opponent racking up the score. And just score your secondaries whenever you can. I mean if everyone on the other side is dead, how can they score?

    Calidus is just the best at this kind of nonsense. She was great in Leviathan, she's great in Pariah Nexus. But here's one that you might not think of; the Culexus Assassin. If you absolutely just cant afford a Calidus, the Culexus is 15 points cheaper and he's got Deep Strike and Lone Op. You can't count him out!
