- Perne is the leader of the Dandelion Gang, a group of Robinhoods operating deep within the Dakia forest in Northern Thracia. Perne’s actions have given him a positive reputation among the villages he’s worked with and helped. He’s described as a “righteous leader” from August, Leif’s chief advisor. And aside from colho, a brigand who rebels against Perne in chapter 12, the significant characters of the Gang: Trude, Tina and Salem are all good people. Given that Thracia doesn’t have support conversations, Perne’s characterization only develops in these two chapters. So, this video serves as a spotlight: It will analyze his dialogue between Salem, Trude, Tina, Lifis and Lara and explore what kind of man Perne really is behind his noble reputation. Is he just a run of the mill robinhood?

Hey, as someone with a phobia of bugs myself, I can tell you that Perne's threat is greater than you can imagine. That's like if Perne threatened to cut tina as far as I'm concerned.
Good lord, this is fun. I really love Thracia's dialog, and how much you can get out of so little words.
If I had to recommend another thing to look out for, it's Dean and Linoan. The relationships they have, the way they're shown, and especially their endings.

Characters who had motivations and goals other than f*ck the protagonist and who were more than a walking set of sweater dumplings? We should go back to that. There's always the TearRing Saga series if you haven't played it already. It was made by Fire Emblem's creator, Shouzou Kaga, after he left IS.

I don't think he ever showed off Perne's relationship with Troude. Then again it's Troude, I don't know how much mileage one can get from practically nothing.
So Perne basically exploits people by his expert understanding of people. He does everything dictated by his mood. Which made him cruel and nice at the very same time. But no matter what he did, he did things purely out of beneficial self interest, he gets the big picture, but he pertains this child-like cruelty.

This may be a terrible thing to say, but it's such a dark joke that it crosses the line straight back over into being hilarious... y'know, despite the whole implied child molestation thing. Whatever it's funny sue me
Anyway I always interpreted the situation with the slaves and dancers as the dancers being people he'd rescued from one place or another and given shelter, and Tina being similar (i.e. he made her his "slave" so that she wouldn't run off and get herself killed or enslaved for real, given that prior to that she'd been wandering alone looking for Sathi). Also the Lifis thing I think is more to give Lifis some sort of comeuppance for his actions thus far, seeing as how Lifis is basically the single worst human being recruitable in any Fire Emblem game (Oliver/Peri/Karel etc don't even compare, really)
Of course Perne is supposed to be of, er, colourful morality, but it does seem like he is portrayed as, at least, a significantly better person than Lifis is.
Perne is hands down one of my favourite characters, what can I say, I love asshole bandits who aren't actually full evil. Salem is probably my all time favourite as the first playable dark magic user.

I already new about Pahn and Tina, so I knew you were going to build that up.
I know this video is REALLY OLD, but I believe that the Dancers are with Pahn out of their own free will. Once you recruit him with ANY character, every single enemy on the map will flee, possibly indicating that, since Pahn isn't going to be around there anymore, they don't have to stay.

Huh. I didn’t think a character from a game without supports could get too much development, but it seems Thracia did ok with it. Although this just makes me hope even more for a remake that adds in supports, like SoV did.
I will say this, he’s no Robin Hood. From the earliest stories of Robin Hood, he’s been a devout follower of the Virgin Mary, and thus has respect women juice coursing through his veins. So owning a slave, and especially a young girl, is something Robin Hood would never do.

I just don't get a good understanding of it besides being a retainer when others earned that right by doing something outstanding for a royal or being rewarded as such. This video makes Perne so much more sinister than I thought my first playthrough. I like to think he's more of a kicked back cool-guy type.
Why Lifis would want to avoid Perne? I see it more like Lifis finds Perne annoying, Perne who loves to tease and Lifis who doesn't really get it.
(Lifis as a character is made out to be really simple and comedic, He's more like an incompetent cartoon villain)
The Mansion doesn't have any Brigand types, it's all thieves and Dancers but also Female archers. I believe the female archers are more so to represent Female thieves without creating a female thief sprite set (because the one in game is of a very small person [Lara]). Think of them like Rangers or Huntresses.
The Dances don't have to be as, let's say inappropriate, as it might have been implied to be in Lara's past. (Imagine the mansion more like a college party dorm than a criminal hideout)
The Mansion being dimly lit is explainable by just the fact that the thieves are escaping and they now the mansion layout better than the invaders. There's no reason to have all your lights on when you plan on making the place vacant soon, Darkness will intimidate your adversary more than it'll hinder you.

I always interpreted the "giant bugs" as his hands looking/feeling like spiders over her face when he "did horrible things to her." I know that's dark, but think amount it. She wouldn't be able to tell what he was doing with his hands in such a dark palace and he could just say it was spiders. Also, he might be trying to maintain her childlike innocence just as he did with Lara. To do so, he covered Tina's eyes so she couldn't see what he was doing to her. Is that too dark? :) sorry

it's a robin hood character, a thief with mercenary stats who has a personnal brave sword who steal life, and he has a 100% critical chance on his second attack and give +10% avoid/hit to everyone around him. And he is hot as hell

Thracia 776 is full of completely broken characters (Orsin, Safy, Ced, Fergus, Olwen, Ilios...) for giving you a chance to win against the hell that is launched on you (status staff everywhere, unlimited one turn reinforcment, ennemy who capture you, etc)
Xaveric Jr An early join time and really useful weapons ( The PUGI and the Repair Staff) doesn't change the fact that Orsin's best growth is still only 85%, and Safy has less then 10% in LCK and DEF ( the stats that tend to be useful for healers that want to live), and usually requires Physic and Fortify to keep up with the group. But yes, Ced IS indeed broken.
pcc isn't hidden. the game literally tells you what a unit's pcc is in their stat menu. it's as obvious as their strength or their magic. by "hidden," i assume you mean "the game never fucking explains what this means and expects you to use either nintendo power or the internet, just like 99% of thracia 776's unique mechanics."

I don't think he keeps slaves per se - he just seems to be a good douchebag, kinda like me, I can be shitty for people sometimes but if push comes to shove I'd rather help somebody than laugh. Plus he has some shitty humor. Generally I think the entire "dancers" and "slave" is consensual on the side of dancers and Tina being a slave is rather a problem he has on what to do with her. Imagine she escapes - what is she supposed to do in a land engulfed in war and banditry? She could get raped, murder and all the fun stuff - I believe he thought she'd be safer with him than all alone and just says it like a shithead instead of admitting it.

The hardest classic FE game, that requires the fourth game for context, that is one of the least profitable titles in the series, and who has the literal least popular character in the series (Glade), deserves a remake over the predecessor who basically set up the foundation for Awakening's B-plot in addition to being incredibly complex in terms of story and characters. Seems legit.

HarryBoBarry Well, consider that Genealogy was supposed to have a midquel between Generations 1 and 2. They very well could do a two in one package, or at least make Leif's story DLC like Hidden Truths and Rise of the Deliverance.
