- Yoshikage Kira is one of the most stand out character in JoJo, let alone Part 4, even acting as the main antagonist of Kira gets a lot of the spotlight. He managed to strike a cord with not only the reading audience but his own creator as well. And over time his character was perfected into the amazing one we have now.

My favorite part is kira is that even though he’s clearly unhinged, he’s also very classy and cunning, like a mafia leader kind of. I also like his design, he’s supposed to stand out as the main villain, but he still managed to seem ordinary to those around him

Kira is what took JoJo villains from run-of-the-mill shonen archetypes, to something interesting and unique. It took 3 more parts and 12 more years for us to get another villain that could potentially top him, in the form of Funny Valentine.

DIO and Kars both actually had a lot going for them compared to a lot of shonen-archetypes at the time. People just don't like spending time trying to understand them.

The other thing about Joskue and Kira being opposites from each other is simply the look. When people look at Joskue they look at him as a Delinquent since in Japan people in gangs had that hair style so they probably thought he was a bad or disrespectful person not knowing he was a really nice and caring person. While In Kira looks he looks like a well mannered and nice person just by how he dressed. He has a nice suit nice hair clean shoes always caring a suit case yet they don’t know how he is a serial killer who is insane. As much as I loved this part I just noticed that today
I forgot the name of this but I believe there's a name for this effect, you just naturally assume a well dressed, clean person is the better one while you assume the dirtier, not well dressed one is the worse one. Interesting how that works
What I like about Kira is how he appears twice before his actual introduction, and you never notice it. He appears during Yukako’s episode with Cinderella, and the lesser known one, during The chili pepper fight (with josuke) during his rant on how he’s stealing power from the whole city, you can see Kira standing in front of the malfunctioning traffic light. It’s fascinating, showing how he can stand as a background character. An unsuspecting victim would never notice.

Kira is honestly my favorite villian because of not only his perfect design and motivations but also how despite being a realitively normal guy there is a sense of entitlement and darkness to Kira. Him sending sheer heart attack on unsuspecting non stand user women is honestly proof of how terrible he really is
When did that happen again? I just remember him using Sheer Heart Attack in the tailor's shop which had his suit and once again when he escapes from Josuke & co after cutting off his hand.

In that time he must have close calls (victims escaping, eye witnesses) right? sheer heart attack was created to chase down victims who were escaping, killer queen doesn't have the much range so it must kill victims far away somehow? we dont see this in the show because kira is still a careful man, just putting the pieces together terrified me. Imaging your being chased down by a serial kill and everywhere you go starts blowing up, the sheer heart attack from it blows me away
To think Kira could have had a happy life since he did protect Shinobu , but his killer instincts overtook him and the rest is history

Damn Araki is a genius.
This is prob the scariest villain in my opinion. Simply because of his mentality. People like him do exist in real life too. Just looking normal like him, hiding their unhinged, murderous, psychopathic intentions, ready to kill you at any moment.

To be fair Kira is a much different antagonist than Diavolo, so having King Crimson be an overpowered stand makes sense since he isn't supposed to be a relatable villain like Kira but a force of nature villain that the heroes must overcome. And even though GER is the most op stand in existence, when Giorno achieved that power, it felt earned since he had to work to get the arrow

I’ve always loved that Kira as a villain was never given a choice at a truly normal life. He was born with the urges to kill and with that, his only two choices are to keep it inside himself and live miserably or act on them and live happily while others die. It doesn’t justify his actions, but it adds to the fact that it’s his destiny at birth to be the chaos in Josuke’s life.
I am gonna say it, one of Kira’s abilities should have been called “under pressure” to reference the song made by Queen and Bowie

Kira is probably the most realistic villain in JoJo, he's a pure psychopath that wants a quiet domestic life while committing crimes with his stand and will do anything to achieve the life he wants, I also like that he has a mudane appearance compared to a lot of characters in the series
The way araki writes his villains is just outright spectacular.
I love Yoshikage because he acts and thinks like a genuine Psychopath that help amplifies the themes of community and Justice in part 4 making him a Amazing antagonist

I have a theory on a musical reference to Kira’s personality.
So apparently Freddie Mercury once said “what I’m trying to say is that high class people can be whores to”. This was when someone asked him about the song killer queen.
But this fits Kira pretty well, Kira is a man that does things that society wouldn’t accept. So in Kira’s case it’s that normal looking people can be monsters too.

Man, David Bowie was always my favorite jojo character. Even when I was extremely new to Jojo, I knew that Kira was gonna be my favorite. He's got the looks, the suit, the personality, the stand, the intimidation! He will probably stay my favorite Jojo character, and I will always be jealous that I will never able to write a character HALF as good as him.

You know what, I actually finished my second rewatch of part 4 recently and I’ve really appreciated Yoshikage Kira more and how good of an antagonist he is, plus killer queen is such a badass stand too.

his theme fits so well with him
it goes from something unassuming like elevator music to something sinister and dark which is basically what kira does when he goes to kill like you wouldnt expect someone who looks like kira to kill you
And the Kosaku version mirrors his new twisted power and cockiness
There’s also a reference for Kira changing identities in the Killer Queen, in the lyric: “To avoid complications, she never kept the same address .”

The underpressure part is also a great part when he was careing for Shinobus safe. That wad his last chance to change, and not get under the pressure of killing. If you listen to under pressure when he fights stray cat, it mimics a lot of what is going on in his mind, is kinda crazy how well is executed that chapter

I'm not sure if this was also in the manga, but in the anime, Kira does actually show a semblance of mercy towards someone. During the Sheer Heart Attack fight, Kira starts heading back to the shoe store to see what was taking so long, and gets harassed by two guys. His wallet fell out of his jacket pocket, and the goon picked it up. Instead of an instant detonation the moment he touched the WALLET, it only occured when he touched the MONEY, which suggested that Kira was willing to leave them be if they simply gave his wallet back, and even then, he only blew up the guy's hand (though that might just be because there was another guy with him, so there'd be a potential witness).
You know Kira could’ve avoided this whole mess by convincing Shigechi that the hand was just a realistic-looking Halloween prop

Notably, I think his abusive mom plays well into his former persona he had before taking on a new identity. He likely wanted to feel in control of his environment and reminds himself of that when he recites the info on himself. Its the conditions he finds safe cause he controls them and won't let anyone infringe on them. Control let's him feel safe and he doesn't want a life of conflict since its deeply uncomfortable for him. Additionally his only female role model was abusive towards him and thus why he never willingly found a female partner and more saw any perspective women as potential outlets for his murderous hand fetish. Both sides of him were influenced from his upbringing in that cruel household.
I always liked the monkey paw like effect of Bitez Za Dusto. Kira got the peaceful life he wanted, he didnt need to concern himself with what was going on because his stands taking care of it.
But in that same case his life is so peaceful he isnt informed about anything the stands doing. Hiyato could of reset over 1000 times, formed any amount of plans, dont anything and he would never know how in jeopardy that peaceful life of his was.
Idk it's always something I rarely hear anyone talk about, how ironic it all turned out so I'm glad someone finally did.
The amount of detail in the characters written is incredible. It's really cool to see the little things in each character.

Ok, whenever we see a stand obtain requiem the STAND is pierced by the arrow. This is seen in both scenarios of Silver Chariot and Gold Experience where the user pierced the stand with the arrow. In Kira's case he was pierced himself, not Killer Queen. Therefore Kira's situation is more of a stand power up instead of a new form.

The stand needs to stab himself whith the Requiem arrow.
For pucci's disc:
Pucci presses a stand disc in your skull, then if you don't already have a stand of your own, you can keep the disc unless pucci takes it out. If you already had a stand pucci needs to press the disc on your head and then you can keep the disc for only 10 seconds- 10 minutes depending on how your personality

Videos like this really show how well thought out Jojo actually is with so many things actually lining up when you look into them. You'd look at Kira and simply think, likely because of Death Note, that his called that because he's a killer but his name has a deeper meaning. His appearance has a deeper meaning, his Stand names have deeper meaning, even his personality. It just makes me appreciate moments from the series that I never thought of at first but when I did made perfect sense. One example is related to Kira when he has Cinderella grant him a new face. As I recall, Aya's goal was to help people in their love life with her stand with this allowing Yukako to finally be with Koichi. With this in mind, its extremely interesting that even when forced to use her Stand to help Kira, she unintentionally helps a failing marriage as Shinobu hated her marriage and her husband all the way up until he was replaced by Kira (unknown to her). Now she was suddenly happy and super in love with what she thought was her husband and its possible that Kira was falling for her too. Even when forced against her will, she manages to help someone find love, even if unwilling and unintentional, this trend stuck through the series. Another example of this is Polnareff when he confronts both DIO and Diavolo. Dio is Italian for God and Diavolo is Italian for Devil and when Polnareff confronts DIO, he's looking up at him, looking up at God while when faced with Diavolo he is looking down, down at the devil himself. Araki is an amazing writer, everything he puts in place fits, makes sense and seems incredibly thought out. Despite what the 'Araki Forgot' crowd may think, he does actually think hard about his work, he's not constantly forgetting crucial details, far from it infact and ironically its these very same people who are forgetting things just to point out an alleged plot hole. This just makes me love the series more and more.
Those who says "Araki forgot" are actually the fans who forget more than the author. The actual araki moments are just some minor mistakes. Do you know what saddens me? What`s saddens me is that most people only watch Jojo just for the memes and for tiktok and yet they are missing a such masterpiece.
