      it depends on what you're trying to do with it. For example someone who wants to be an MMA fighter will take grappling styles like BJJ, Wrestling, and Judo plus standing fighting like boxing and Muay Thai where as police might take different styles like Hapkido, Aikido, along with a little Judo and Jujitsu. Special Forces will train in combat systems like Krav Maga and SCARS which are 2 of the deadliest combat systems there are.

To me I felt he was leaving his chin vulnerable, but I see in the counter defense he quickly brings it up. Karate guy has mad kicks!

      Mikael Forsgren, everyone needs to understand martial arts isn't about fighting, in the old days of martial arts, anyone who could prevent a fight before it started was considered a master of martial arts. I've been studying and practicing martial arts for 10 years now, and never got into a fight, because I never needed to or wanted to, to fight without fighting is my technique, and it's a technique every true master will teach. if you go out looking for a fight that's all your going to get, that's abusing the power you have been given. if you abuse your power it's going to be taken away. and if I do get into a fight my first course of action is to prevent it, and if that doesn't work I'll walk away, and if that doesn't work then I'll prepare myself for whatever happens next. and comparing a styles is meaningless, no style is better or worse. it's about the person using it, how good they are, how much training they have.

    • @chocobom110801
      @chocobom110801 6 лет назад +14

      Sparring isn't fighting. It just trains yourself to be able to use the skills youve already practiced in a realistic situation where you are being pressure and attacked by a live opponent. Drills in slow motion don't do anything other than work on technique. All I see is him practicing drills, I never see a video of someone actually trying to prevent him from doing his combinations and counter attacking. He hasn't proven anything about his style and the idea of practicing martial arts fro 10 years but no understand the idea of sparring is laughable. It's like when you see karate practicioners who have many years of training and a nice belt but if they haven't done any full contact sparring or ever been hit in the face/head, then when that first jab lands and breaks their nose and each time its being crushed, they wont be able to flow with the training they have done becasue they havent trained for a realistic situation. I get that a lot of karate have full contact Kumites however there is still no punching allowed to the head/face.

    As someone who is more or less on the outside looking in, with no fighting or martial arts experience, it looks like every style has something good to offer. I like seeing the dynamic between three seemingly proficient individuals from different disciplines coming together and just trading bits and pieces of their styles.
    It seems like it all comes down to the practitioner more than the practice, as with many things. I love it. I see a lot of hate going back in forth in comments, but my impression is that the style you find the best fit in, the greatest enjoyment in, will be the greatest one for you. As with all things, really.
    Great video, thumbs up.

    As a boxer, im sorry i just do not buy this style. Havent seen one example of it being used effectively. Only slow moving examples, show me a fight where techniques are on display. Please, feel free to link a video. Im not hating simply one fight enthusiast to another learning as much as i can. Fighting styles should absolutely be critiqued always. So someone show me proof this style works.

    • @Docinaplane
      @Docinaplane 7 лет назад +55

      That's why the best fighters use various fighting systems to be at their most effective. Boxing is a very good system and every fighter should have some familiarity with it. Of course, systems with rules have weaknesses. A wrestler would destroy a boxer if the boxer didn't know what the wrestler does for example. Master Wong's system is very good at close range, just as boxing is. He keeps it basic and simple, just as boxing is. Karate requires a very challenging skill set. You don''t have to be able to do what your opponent does, but you better know what they can do. Or hit them hard and fast before they can do it.

      As a person who has studied boxing and wing chun, I am sort of skeptical about this video. First, agree with his technique because realistically and ideally it would work; however, wing chun requires you to have superb reflexes. That's it downfall. Anyone that can throw fast tricky punches can beat a wc martial artist.
      With the wrestler argument it depends on the individual. Any wrestlers who think twice about grabbing George Foreman. He was an Ox.

    • @jameslarscius3512
      @jameslarscius3512 7 лет назад +9

      David Michael I've been boxing for about 9 years now and I can tell you that it might work the first time if we're caught off guard, but it certainly won't work the next time. Boxers are trained to adapt to their opponent's movements without having to use kicks, but that doesn't mean we leave our legs unprotected. There are plenty of movements that are evasive and even defensive when you're boxing against a discipline that uses kicks. It would probably work best in a street fight against an inexperienced fighter. It might even work against an experienced street fighter, but the point is they have no training or discipline. Its a lot different when you're fighting a trained individual or group.

    Great work Master Wong. I absolutely agree with your sentiment. It should never be about delusions of what style is better or worse. We learn styles to defend ourselves against common bullies, but in tournaments - on any given day, what matters is the ability of an artist to manipulate and improvise their style to get around their opponent. I like the use of the elbow-covers to intercept, break and defend; I don't think we use in our style but if I get a brainfade with fists too close to me, I'll throw in some elbow-covers. Thank you.

  • @marcog3529

    Everyone has a plan until they get punched, that's mike tyson for you. So viewers, don't be mad, and know that this video is only theoretical. When you control all the variables, of course it could work. But say after the four punches, your opponent pulls a knife out and try to map you up, then it is a different game. Or your opponent kicks you while you are busy blocking the punches, and then you fall, now you are on the ground trying to pull them mma shit. Or your opponent is Mike tyson himself, and your defense is completely destroyed because he is simply too strong. This is only a stimulated situation. But i still like these videos. God forbid one day you are about to be killed by one massive uppercut and you don't know what to do. This might well save your life. There is no guarantee though. My advise? Watch these videos, but don't take them too seriously.

    • @isaacng4734
      @isaacng4734 4 года назад

      "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face" who even walks into a fight thinking of a plan anyways? in most mma fights, boxing fights or any other fight no one would even think of a plan, its just skill and experience vs skill and experience.

    What kind of noob boxer would throw an upper cut that is so out of focus? The dude's head is obviously at hook range and beyond.. do you even expect an amateur boxer would throw an upper like that? Also that uppercut can easily turn into a liver shot, and using elbow to block would leave your lower body wide open, that's what boxing is about..

    its easy to block and do this fancy shit and humiliate the boxer when you know what punches he's going to throw. i doubt that a pro boxer will just stand there with is hands down and let himself be countered. where is this "boxers" pride in his art.

      I kinda disagree
      Boxers are brute force and endurance, but kicks from karate might do some damage. Plus M. Wong would always be up in his face, preventing any powerful blows and tactically disabling him throughout

      Jordan L boxing is so technical haha what are you even saying? Have you ever even boxed before? head movement, timing, distance, footwork, defensive in boxing In general. Personally My style all about defense. I will jab you in the face and use head movement while your trying to wildly swing an hit me in the face. I have equal power in both hands an can go southpaw and orthodox. People tell me my jab feels like it will knock them out. All the time in Wong videos he will even say boxers are the mfs that are knocking people out in the streets. I believe WC is effective, but mainly if you use it to complement your existing striking art aka, boxing or thai boxing or whatever it may be.

      @@dennisgoe3537 wtf is a street fighter? that's not a martial art, a boxer like this would clean up anyone who just fights on the street with no training, even if they've had 100 fights, and where did BJJ come into this? BJJ is great 1v1, but if the guy has a friend, doing BJJ would be a big mistake, you will just get stomped if you go to the ground grappling by his friend, it's very useful 1v1, but useless if there's a possible threat from a standby, it would be a big mistake, boxing works against anyone, it might not be successful against another guy trained in another martial art, but it will be useful, boxing has the best footwork out of any martial art... lethwei or muaythai is probably the best to learn for self defense on the street, you got clenches, throws, sweeps, kicks, elbows, knees, punching, Headbutting if lethwei

      Watt & Co Accountants Ltd, everyone needs to understand martial arts isn't about fighting, in the old days of martial arts, anyone who could prevent a fight before it started was considered a master of martial arts. I've been studying and practicing martial arts for 10 years now, and never got into a fight, because I never needed to or wanted to, to fight without fighting is my technique, and it's a technique every master will teach. if you go out looking for a fight that's all your going to get, that's abusing the power you have been given. if you abuse your power it's going to be taken away. and if I do get into a fight my first course of action is to prevent it, and if that doesn't work I'll walk away, and if that doesn't work then I'll prepare myself for whatever happens next. and comparing a styles is meaningless, no style is better or worse. it's about the person using it, how good they are, how much training they have.

    • @davewatt1907
      @davewatt1907 6 лет назад

      There are loads of idiots out on the streets these days, more than ever and whilst i like quite a few martial arts and think that parts of them would be useful in a street fight to protect yourself i think wing chun is probably the best out of them. However like for like i think a boxer would win due to his experience in real combat situations such as open sparring and bouts in front of a crowd. In this video of Master Wong i believe that Archie Sharp, the boxer would knock out that karate kid in probably one or two punches. He is a seasoned and accomplished fighter. Karate never actually fight in real situations and this is its big flaw. How you can say that comparing styles is meaningless is dumb. You might learn pretty techniques but if kicked off karate would be pretty useless i think. Just my opinion, no disrespect intended.
