This is great I thought wing chun was faster but karate also has great techniques ! I would also like to meet you one day
KARATE DO LEADS!!!
If you come to Toronto, let me know 😉
Mr Jesse. I suggest you find wing chun fighters who also have adapted their martial arts for sports competition and have actually competed and fought in the ring. The man in this video doesn't do any of us justice. I'd volunteer myself but sadly I have too many injuries to even think about sparring or competing anymore and just practice for my own health and exercise. But, if you look for sport Kung fu fighters in the US that know wing chun, I'm sure you can find them. Good luck sir. Love your videos..keep up the good work and thanks for being a shining light in the martial arts world.
That "oh nice" was so wholesome
Right?
@@KARATEbyJesseEskrima vs wing chun and other martial arts?
You don't say the oh nice was wholesome you say it was nice.
HOW MANY MORONS ARE OUT THERE THAT DONT UNDERSTAND THAT NICE DOESN'T MEAN WHOLESOME AND WHOLESOME DOESN'T MEAN NICE. 🤦🤦
what a joke, the wing chun gun needs forward pressure to close the gap but he just stood there. didnt even trap the leg.
hes nice at the firstime
Description: Karate VS Wing Chun
Song: Everybody was Kung Fu fighting
Karate is just Japanese kungfu;)
Wing chun is a form of kung fu.
@@nickcarroll8565yep, Karate was taken from Chinese Kungfu and didn't use belt and gi before. Its the modernization of Karate for the masses that made it change
We've been backstabbed, betrayed and quite possibly bamboozled😂
@@nickcarroll8565 yeah, but karate out from kungfu. But they still sayad karate is a kungfu, but not so
In similar skill level, size comes back into play. Jesse just kept getting out of Kevin's range while remaining able to strike
bro he literally is throwing kicks from punching range
Yeah maybe just do a real self defense
So we always return to the blackpilled physical reality..big guy with some skill= You are screwed
Have you heard about walking forward? The guy on the right can go closer if the one on the left takes a step back
The wingchun guy was on defense the whole time, he wasn't even actually trying to attack? 😂 Like he just throw some punch "but if it didn't hit, so be it" mentality 😅
I think the purpose in this video was actually how wingchun defense come into play vs karate attacks? 🤔🧐
Damn, you’re throwing those head kicks with close to no space and you control is amazing.

Did you not see the wang Chung guy gets destroyed? It’s just not useful in a real world situation. It wasn’t even useful in this light sparring scenario.

In Kevins defense, Jesse has a considerable reach advantage here. They both looked great.
You either make space or take space.
@KARATEbyJesse very true 🙇♂️
@@KARATEbyJesselooks to me like he couldn't take any space. Your distance control was superb in comparison.
Um yeah was saying why couldn't find a wing Chun guy his size lol
I Always hear size doesn't matter 😂 especially from wc guys
I love how they are being respectful and humble with each other
Yeah most people almost always argue about which style is better
I think it was a Jet Li movie that the MC's common point was that "Which style is not important. What matters is the peraon."
Jessie is good at distance management, the last exchange was clean.
Jesse! You got some speed.
Thank you James

but no power
He do be nerding out on that karate, doe
@@pegasusrr3156no power? 😳.. Jesse! We’ve got a volunteer here to stand in front of you while you deliver a “no power, but ultra fast” kick to the head! 😆
Shoving someone and following up with the head kick is a great move. I try and use it in sparring all the time. Shove and low kick works great too. Way to go guys.
I used to do the same thing but I’d always get pointed for it. You apparently couldn’t maintain stable footing in a block/punch combo and had to push yourself back rather than the opponent which honestly just seems flawed to me. I mean yeah in certain scenarios I can see how it’d be beneficial but in most I’m gonna wanna shove the opponent away/off balance so I can get in that really good kick on them
Its is a magnificent move shove and kick i to practice this😁
I will try it next time
Wing Chu the Kung-fu is Perfect...Karatê is Inpact.
The ending is too relatable as a fighter who wears contacts 😂
Seems like two guys worth sitting and having a conversation with. Very wholesome gents.
Both of these guys carry themselves very well. Nothing but honor and respect.
Not really - The WC guy didn't do anything. He was on the defensive mode and no kicks or anything. You will get hit, it doesn't matter how good your defensive moves are. You need to go on the offensive.
@@nixontnguyento be fair the entire point of wing Chun is to strike right when you block

That's a naive statement.
Timing > reflexes which came from experiences... Like a win or lose might come down into who can land a solid hit towards the opponent in that split millisecond...

Your are quite right... Sensei chess
My thing is, what is the probability of a Wing Chun practitioner getting into a fight with someone who knows Karate? They’re both winners and are effective disciplines.
No greater feeling then to spar with a bro, and you help each other inprove your forms and compliment what works
Except one form is completely dog sht and will get you cooked in a matter of 10 sec
Everybody gangsta until their contact comes out lol

The point of sparring is not to win but to learn. Not trying to win gives you more freedom to be creative.
This isn't sparring
Those kicks were on point.
My Sifu, who taught me Wing Chun, often said "NEVER be overconfident or underestimate ANY other martial art. Boxer, wrestler, Karate, whatever, he's got a range and a strategy that will BEAT your strategy--if you let him. Don't play HIS game, make HIM play YOUR game.

Wing Chun dude used no legs attacks. Great control by Jesse!
Height disadvantage
I was expecting the Wing Chun guy to stick more. More Lops, more Paks, etc.
According to what i know, wing Chun only had a couple kicks like side kick, front kick, inside/inner kick, and last outside/outter kick. And in that little range he can do lower kick like the inside/inner and outside/outter kick.
@@victorrainit's not about which martial art is better but it's about how well you master it and how well you know the technique. Like Jiu Jitsu, if you cannot remember the technique then you're in the losing side.
He didn’t attack anyway either.. no kicks, no punch… just kusao… and let karate have determination… not fair fight…
Wing Chun is determination to attack directly in the middle line… with no determination, wingchun or any other martial art is useless…
If I had to pick a winner, I'd give it to Jesse simply because of the "oh nice!"
you know they keep holding back to not hurt each other so its not determined who is actually stronger

What's the point if one is superior?
I need the whole video of this interaction, if possible.

Never underestimate anybody! That nerd is dangerous !
Not standing straight up and down and full forward in a fight he's not! But I get how one could think that if one has never been in a fight before! Karate guy has a bladed stance. Moves in and out of range and finds balance in each step which allows him to strike with a lil more power! I'm only a fan of a few karate techniques!
@@EricJohnson-tb9sj Former prison guard here. Have seen some action... Look how fast his kicks to head are. That is impressive. That does not mean that he can fight. His WC is not great, even though he trains with one of the best WC instructors in the world. His kickboxing and grappling seem much better in other videos I’ve seen of him.
It is obvious who has sparred more, with these respective styles - that's all - to develop effectiveness, you really need to be using it in real-world conditions.

Jesse and Wonderboy has some of the best kicks I’ve seen. Such a joy to watch. The wing chun guy is very fast, but size and range is the deciding factor here, I think atleast.
That sneaky ass headkick at the end though.
Those Karate Kicks are so smooth it's unreal how fast they can throw them, without even telegraphing, just with speed and setups.

Nice one dude
For a Wing Chun guy, he does seem to have a real foundation & skillset for application - he's not just a dancer like many others
Sadly, Wing Chun is affected by McDojo more than most other styles. Especially because most people don't understand the style. They go at it as if it's Kyokushin where you just overpower the enemy. Some people think Wing Chun is unbeatable and make it more vulnerable because of that.

Wing Chun can work when you move forward aggressively, closing the distance and robbing your opponent of his balance. But this can only be achieved through intensive sparring.
